LEGENDARY BROKEN PLAYER - VRMMORPG
Chapter 817 - 817 - A Threat from the Sky“We need to get everyone back to the village,” Broken said after summoning Pawpaw again.
The Demon Beast was sprawled lazily on the cave floor, resting his head on the ground while staring up at Broken.
During the battle, Pawpaw had fought alongside them, repeatedly tanking devastating attacks that would have otherwise injured several dragonkin. So, it was no surprise that he looked completely drained now.
It was clear that his stamina was nearly depleted—just a little more, and he’d probably need a long period of rest.
Even before this battle, Pawpaw had consumed a ton of resources—devouring monster cores, even absorbing soul stones he had found along the way.
This Demon Beast truly devoured anything in its path.
And yet… his progress was still slower than expected.
Despite everything he had eaten, he hadn’t undergone any noticeable upgrades since the day he was born.
Was it because he was a Demon Beast? Was his growth different from that of a spirit?
After all, the same thing didn’t happen for Blaze. Blaze had undergone a massive transformation after Broken had fed him high-quality materials.
As Broken thought about this, he sat down on the cave floor, pulling out the monster core he had just obtained from the demon hand.
A Legendary-grade Monster Core.
Its value was immeasurable.
If Broken crafted an item using this core, he was certain it would result in something incredible.
But… this wasn’t just any monster core.
It came from a fragment of a demon.
A named demon, most likely.
Still, something was off. Even after killing this monster, Broken’s kill count for named demons hadn’t increased.
That meant… this wasn’t a complete named demon. Somewhere out there, the rest of it still existed.
And if just the hand had been this powerful…
Then how strong was the demon’s full form?
If its complete body was still out there, Broken had no doubt that it could be even stronger than Duke Focalor. That was a level of difficulty he couldn’t even imagine facing anytime soon.
As he held out the legendary monster core, Pawpaw’s ears twitched. The Demon Beast gazed at it with an unusual hesitation.
“You’re giving it to me?” Pawpaw asked, sounding almost… reluctant.
That actually made Broken smirk. Because this was probably the first time Pawpaw had ever hesitated to devour something valuable.
In reality, Broken was pretty lucky to have gotten two monster cores from this Legendary-grade monster. That meant… he could keep one in reserve for whatever situation might call for it.
But—if this monster core actually gave Pawpaw a positive upgrade, he wouldn’t mind giving him both.
After all, Pawpaw had already proven himself to be an invaluable companion beast in countless situations—especially with his unique ability to teleport between Broken and Alora, ensuring that Alora always had a reliable backup whenever she needed it.
So, the stronger Pawpaw became, the better it would be—not just for Broken, but for Alora as well.
With that thought, Broken placed the monster core on the ground, right near Pawpaw’s head.
The demon cat sniffed at it curiously before finally opening his mouth and swallowing it whole.
For a moment, he just sat there, processing it—then let out a small burp.
“Good?” Broken asked.
Pawpaw licked his lips lazily. “Not bad.”
That was good enough.
Now, Broken needed him focused.
Because they still had one last job to do.
There were 23 dragonkin and 4 players that needed to be transported back to the village. Which meant Pawpaw would have to teleport back and forth at least 16 times.
It wasn’t that far of a distance—but the real danger was the risk of being discovered by the dragons or the High Elves, who might have already arrived at the battlefield.
They needed to move fast. Before more enemy forces showed up.
***
Broken was the last to be transported back to the dragonkin village.
He arrived at the highest peak of the village, where he could still see five dragons circling above the barrier.
This time, however, they weren’t attacking. Instead, they simply hovered, watching.
Their presence was unnerving—but for now, they remained inactive.
Back inside the castle, Broken stayed with SexyGrill, SexyBloom, and Vallrick, all of them waiting in tense silence.
“Dragons that strong…” SexyGrill murmured, her gaze still locked on the massive creatures circling above. “I wonder what kind of loot we’d get if we killed them?”
She giggled softly, clearly amused by the dangerous thought.
Standing beside her, SexyBloom nudged her shoulder. “You do realize they’re dragons, right? The same race as Ivana!”
“I know, I know…” SexyGrill shrugged. “But they’re under the control of the High Elf Queen…”
Her expression darkened slightly as she continued. “Just what kind of power does she have to control dragons that strong?”
Broken finally spoke up, adding his own thoughts. “This is the first time five dragons like these have appeared in front of so many people.”
He crossed his arms, his gaze sharp. “Because from what most people know—the dragons guarding the High Elf Queen’s kingdom are different from these.”
For a while, the dragonkin simply stood there, watching the dragons that had yet to make a move.
And then—
A thunderous roar echoed through the skies once more.
“I will burn this entire forest to the ground… if you do not hand over the Dragon Princess.”
The threat was clear.
The dragons had given up on trying to destroy the barrier. But in doing so, they had shifted their strategy.
Their assault had, in a way, strengthened the barrier itself—but now the question remained…
How long would they have to wait until the dragons finally gave up?
Hours passed.
Broken remained inside the castle, seated in silence, making sure to stay out of sight from the dragons above. The others stayed with him, all waiting—watching.
During this time, he took a moment to check on the Eternal Challenge, where Goldrich and the team were still holding their ground.
Even though most of the other teams were trying to corner them, they were still winning.
This match would last for several more hours, and Broken realized that if he logged out now, he could still jump in and help secure their victory.
But…
Was this really the right time to log out?
He kept debating it over and over.
Until—
Something changed.
From his spot inside the castle, Broken suddenly noticed something strange.
The dragonkin outside were stirring, their heads turning upward.
“…What is it?” he murmured.
At that moment, SexyGrill, who had been monitoring the area through the flying golem, suddenly stiffened in shock before she stood up abruptly.
“Grill?” Broken glanced at her, sensing the tension in the air.
At the same time, SexyBloom stepped closer toward the open balcony, trying to see what had caught the dragonkin’s attention.
Above the barrier.
Broken moved to stand beside her, Vallrick and SexyGrill following close behind.
And there—
They saw the figure.
A woman.
She floated above the barrier, her elegant white silk gown flowing like water, accentuated by simple yet regal light gold armor.
Her long silver hair cascaded down her back, swaying with the wind.
Even from this distance, they could see her presence was overwhelming.
Is that…?
For a moment, no one spoke.
It was as if the very reality of what they were seeing was too much to accept.
Some of the dragonkin even shook their heads in disbelief, refusing to believe their own eyes.
Until—
SexyGrill whispered the name.
“…Yvaeris Aranwyn.”
“…No way.” Vallrick exhaled, his voice barely above a breath.
Because the woman standing before them was none other than—
The High Elf Queen.
The Ancestral Wielder of the Pride Champion.
