LEGENDARY BROKEN PLAYER - VRMMORPG

Chapter 816 - 816 - The Champion’s Sacrifice

20 levels!

The monster they were facing had dropped a full 20 levels—a massive reduction. And the difference was immediate.

Its attack speed had slowed noticeably. The magic damage wasn’t nearly as overwhelming as before. Even its massive lava sword—previously an unstoppable force—was now something the Elder Wing could hold his ground against.

This fight had suddenly become way more manageable.

But still…

Why stop at just 20?

“Vallrick! Just lower it even more while you’re at it!” Broken shouted at the mysterious assassin, who was still running along the cave walls, dodging waves of lava crashing in all directions.

“Sorry, Broken… that’s the max I can do! That cost me 40 of my own levels.”

“Forty levels?!”

Broken’s head snapped toward Vallrick, utterly stunned.

The Pride Champion just scratched the back of his head with a sheepish grin—but before he could say anything else, another lava wave nearly hit him, and he panicked, sprinting away again.

He sacrificed 40 levels… to drop the monster’s level by 20?!

That was an insane trade-off!

Forty levels weren’t something you could just farm overnight. That kind of progress could take a year—maybe even two years in Yunatea time.

Was he serious?

No wonder his level was ridiculously low for someone dealing with such an extreme quest.

But then again… maybe he had some kind of mechanism that let him regain levels faster. That would actually make sense. Because if he kept sacrificing his level like this without a way to recover it, he’d eventually drop to level 1 and be completely useless.

Still…

This ability was absolutely insane against high-level enemies.

If they’d had him back when they fought Focalor, just dropping that thing’s level by 20 would have made the fight so much easier—maybe even reduced the number of casualties.

These Pride Champions were seriously just cheaters in disguise, huh? Their abilities were beyond broken.

The battle continued—but now, the dragonkin was suffering far less damage. They could hold their ground better, withstand the hits more effectively, and for the first time—Broken could finally shift his focus to attacking.

He unleashed a relentless barrage, chaining together every high-damage skill he had. Strike after strike, the fight tipped further in their favor—until finally…

CRASH!

The demon hand’s massive sword shattered, crashing to the lava pool.

This was it.

Broken prepared his strongest single-target finishing move.

[⚔️ Abyssal Spear – Piercing Spear of the Abyss (Active Skill) activated]

The Abyssal Wavebreaker Spear shone brilliantly, its form enveloped in a swirling vortex of pure water energy. Every droplet hummed with power, condensing into a single, devastating lance of destruction.

Broken tightened his grip. This was it.

The air around it ruptured, a shockwave exploding outward as the colossal spear of abyssal water ripped through the battlefield—unstoppable.

The demon hand twitched—as if sensing its own doom—just before the spear collided.

BOOOOOOM!!!

The impact was instantaneous.

The spear pierced straight through, water surging into every crack and crevice of the molten flesh. The lava hissed and boiled, steam exploding outward in violent bursts.

The hand quivered—its massive fingers twitching in agony—before the flames in its core flickered… and died.

The once-molten surface darkened. Cracks splintered across its form, light bleeding through like veins about to rupture—

And then—

KRAKOOOOOOM!!!

The demon hand exploded.

Fragments of obsidian-like rock blasted outward, scattering across the battlefield like shattered remains of a fallen titan. The sheer force of the detonation sent a shockwave roaring through the cavern, causing the very walls to tremble.

And then—

For a few stunned moments, the dragonkin floats there, almost unable to process it.

The legendary raid was over.

They won!

The tension finally broke.

A wave of relief swept through the battlefield, and the dragonkin roared in victory, their voices echoing through the cavern.

It took a few moments for the aftermath of the battle to truly settle.

The demon hand was gone. The once-chaotic lava pool below had begun to stabilize, its surface no longer churning as violently as before—though it hadn’t disappeared entirely.

The scattered lava that had spilled from the pool was slowly cooling and hardening, turning black and solid, especially after being relentlessly hammered by so much water elemental damage throughout the fight.

And then—

A soft glow shimmered in the air, right where the demon hand had once been.

The light rippled before suddenly shooting toward Broken, sinking into his body.

[You have obtained: Legendary-grade Fragment of the Abyssal Demon: Marquis Sabnock Monster Core Lv. 280]

A monster core. Not bad.

Wait… hold on—

[You have obtained: Legendary-grade Fragment of the Abyssal Demon: Marquis Sabnock Monster Core Lv. 280]

Two monster cores?!

Bountiful Harvest never failed to come in clutch at moments like this.

[You have obtained…]

[You have obtained…]

[You have obtained Legendary-grade…]

[You have obtained Legendary-grade…]

The loot notifications kept flooding in. Alongside the monster cores, Broken also received several rare materials from the fallen demon, along with—

A Legendary-grade item.

A bracelet. And a ring.

But Broken didn’t check them just yet.

Not now.

He watched as the dragonkin slowly regrouped, checking on one another’s condition. SexyBloom was moving between them, helping stabilize the injured and making sure no one was in critical danger.

Seeing this, Broken quickly moved toward the ones who were most severely wounded.

He still had enough Mana and Stamina left—he could do something for them. While he wasn’t a full-fledged healer, he did have some healing skills, even if they weren’t the kind that could be spammed endlessly.

He worked for as long as he could, restoring as much as possible—until his Mana finally ran dry, forcing him to step back and recover.

For now, the dragonkin needed time to rest and regain their strength.

Because soon, they had to return to their lands—to ensure the dragons and the looming threat of the High Elf Queen didn’t escalate into something even worse.

And then—

Vallrick.

Standing there, grinning like a fool, right in the middle of them all.

The moment Broken turned toward him, Vallrick flashed his signature wide smirk.

“That was insanely close! Good thing we won, huh? Hehe.”

Broken sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Why didn’t you tell us from the start?”

Vallrick tilted his head. “Tell you what?”

“That you can reduce a monster’s level.”

“I did tell you…” Vallrick replied, shrugging.

SexyGrill groaned, rubbing her temples. “Yes, but next time, answer the damn question clearly. You nearly got more people killed because of that nonsense.”

“Ah, haha, okay, okay, sorry,” Vallrick said, still grinning. “And thanks for helping me take that thing down! I’ll just—”

But before he could finish, Broken had already turned away, resuming his conversation with the dragonkin, completely ignoring him.

SexyBloom giggled.

Seeing that he was being blatantly ignored, Vallrick turned his attention to her instead. “And… SexyBloom—”

“Bloom! Just Bloom, okay?” She cut him off sharply.

Vallrick blinked, then chuckled. “Ah, okay, hehe. Bloom, you’re so cool… You are Broken’s little sister, right?”

Bloom just rolled her eyes as they continued chatting, their conversation quickly turning into playful banter.

After that, the Elder Wing stepped forward, approaching Broken.

“King Broken, I believe we can return now.”

Broken nodded. “It’ll take as long as before.”

The Elder Wing nodded in agreement. “The barrier has returned to normal.”

Yes… but would the dragons retreat now that the barrier was no longer weakened?
