Yu Jia Yu, who had lost his youth, was naturally not loved by his wife anymore and was forced to do all sorts of jobs.

Yu Jia Yu was the only one who had a decent family background. He didn’t mind the uselessness of his wife, as he was born with a soft temper and decided to continue living the life that fate had written in his destiny.
But who would have thought that Li Hanyang’s other husbands would turn out to be fox demons? They did not sit still and often made trouble. Some even blew air on the pillow and beguiled Li Hanyang into going to the Yu house and causing trouble.
Li Hanyang was also enchanted by greed after she got big chunks of meat from Yu Hai. Before Yu Hai’s death, Li Hanyang would send Yu Jia Yu to ask for meat, rice and grain from the Yu family. If Yu Jia Yu refused then she would go herself and threaten the Yu family.
However, once Yu Hai died everything changed. Li Hanyang never went to the Big River Village as she was worried that the Yu family would ask her for help.
She even stopped Yu Jia Yu from going back home. No matter what Yu Jia Yu said it fell deaf to the ears of his wife who was no longer as close to him as she was before.
What was, with the passing of each year, Yu Jia Yu’s situation in the Li family got worse and worse. Even though the Li family relied on his family for years, they have long forgotten the grace that Yu Hai had shown them.
Instead, now they blamed and looked down on Yu Jia Yu who didn’t have a family to rely on. Even though it was Li Hanyang who stopped Yu Jia Yu from going back to his maternal family, she now passes derisive remarks at him.

And whenever Yu Jia Yu talked about going back, Li Hanyang started beating him and threatened him with divorce.

His waist was aching as he had been crouching for so long but as soon as he straightened up, Yu Jia Yu knew that he had to go back home and wash the dirty pots as the family must have eaten lunch by now.
Only after washing the pots and pans would he be allowed to eat anything.
“Mother, I really miss you.”
However, after sighing for a while, Yu Jia Yu shook his head and started walking down the path. His sons and daughter must be waiting for him.
On the other side, Old Madam Yu was watching Yu Yuya playing in the garden.
After Yu Le divorced his wife, he renamed his daughter after the Yu family. She was smiling as she watched Yu Yuya chase after Yu Mai who was cupping his ears and refusing to hear any more about the water cycle.
He did not want to study anymore ah!
His life was already tough enough. All his friends were bribed by his sister who played with him now he could no longer sneak out of the house.

“Mother, I am thinking of going to see Brother Jia Yu,” Yu Le turned to look at his mother and said, “It has been years since I last saw him.”

She would curse at Yu Jia Yu for bringing an old bag of bones to her house’s doorstep. After hearing those curses Old Madam Yu decided to stop troubling her son.
Yu Le pursed his lips and said, “I don’t know but it has been a long time. I don’t know how Brother Jia Yu is, so I want to go and see him.”
