“What’s going on?” Yu Dong, who heard the words of her grandmother and uncle, walked out of the house and looked at the two of them with confusion in her eyes. “Did something happen?”

“Ah, it’s nothing Dong Dong,” Old Madam Yu waved her hand and sighed quietly. “We were just talking about your second uncle. Old Tong married him off to a distant village and the last time I saw him was when he gave birth to a daughter.”

“It has been what— eight years already? His daughter must be so big now.”

Old Madam Yu reminisced about her granddaughter, with a soft smile on her lips.

“Second uncle?” Yu Dong had no memories of this person. So instead of pretending like she knew about him, she said to Grandma Yu, “If you miss him then you can go to his village. No matter how far away it is, with our four-horse carriage, you can arrive there in a few days.”

As soon as she finished speaking, the two people turned to look at her.

“What’s wrong?” Sensing something amiss with their gaze, Yu Dong asked with a frown on her face.

“It’s not that I do not wish to go and see him. It’s just —sigh,” Old Madam Yu sighed again and Yu Dong had to turn and look at Yu Le who smiled at her and explained, “My brother married a woman who is even more troublesome than my ex-wife.”

“At least my ex-wife had some conscience in a way, but Li Hanyang doesn’t have any. She doesn’t let Brother Jia Yu come back to his maternal family and yet she looks down on him because he doesn’t have a maternal family to support him.”

“In case we go to her house, her family would lock up their doors and refuse to let us inside. They would also beat Brother Jia Yu to send us away.”

Yu Dong frowned and remarked, “Are they alright in the head? Or is there something wrong with them?”

Yu Le chuckled. He said, “Sometimes I think the same thing but then again my wife was a bit troubled in the head as well.”

Yu Dong heaved an exasperated sigh. She did not have anything to say at that very moment because she agreed with what Yu Le said.

The women of this world were rather low-witted.

“Then I will go with Uncle Le and take a look at Uncle Jia Yu’s condition,” Yu Dong did not want someone to bully her family. She had also noticed that her grandma and uncle talked a lot about her two uncles.

“Really? Won’t it be too much trouble? You are already working too hard,” Old Madam Yu did not want to trouble Yu Dong. “Why don’t I go instead?”

Though she said those words, she hesitated. The Li family of the Giant Duck Village did not fear her. Even if she were to head over to their house, there was no way she could scare them into submission.

“It’s alright,” Yu Dong waved her hand dismissively. “The bakery is yet to be opened and the construction of the greenhouse is almost done. There is no need for us to worry about it.”

She paused and added, “Just make sure to remind my aunt to hand over the compensation. Her salary must have already been paid right?”

Last month Yu Linyun made an excuse that all of her salary was used up and she could not pay the compensation. Yu Dong did not want that woman to escape this time around though!

Or else she would make that woman her slave!

If she cannot handle her pay as it was too much then she might as well come back to the village and work as a farmer to repay the money that her son made Yu Dong lose.

Old Madam Yu nodded. She was also aware of the strife and struggle between Yu Dong and her daughter.

Since no one had any objections, Yu Dong decided to leave for the Giant Duck Village the next morning.

Shen Li was rather upset over the fact that Yu Dong was going so far away when refugees and rebels were running amok.

Their village was fine because Yu Dong had built an iron wall around their village which made it impossible for anyone to penetrate but what about outside?

There were no walls to protect her but he still packed her a big bag.

Then he also packed two small bags that could be carried by Yu Le.

After he was done packing, Shen Li asked Yu Dong to return home without playing the hero for anyone.

“If you dare to jump into a dangerous situation, I will certainly not throw you out of the house once you are healed!”

“Then are you not afraid of someone else taking me into their house?” Yu Dong asked innocently and in response, she received another lecture on how she should know her limits as well as that of her husbands.

Dinner was cooked by Chen Mi who seemed to sulk over the fact that his wife was not taking him with her.

He snorted and ladled three to four layers of rice in Yu Dong’s bowl and said to her, “You will definitely miss me when you eat the meals outside. So you might as well pad your stomach and be prepared to eat some really disgusting meals.”

Could anyone other than him cook such delicious food? Not to mention Yu Dong would not get a chance to bring out such fresh vegetables and meat while travelling.

Yu Dong looked at the tower of rice and was speechless. Did he really expect her to eat so much rice?

She turned around and looked at Chen Mi who seemed eager as he piled another layer of meat for her in another bowl.

Yup, he did.

Yu Dong finished her meal with quite a painful note.

The next morning, she woke up and was prepared to set off with Yu Le when —

“Wahhh!! I want to go! I want to go too!”
