Chapter 3516: What Should We Do Now?
The next day, Abi, Silveria, Yun, and even Saria came to see the twins’ group off. It became very clear they didn’t want to stay. CAU03 and 431 were there as well.
"Hey, Saria, I haven’t seen you since the day I found you in my residence, hiding in my room," Rean spoke, making everyone around hear. They knew Saria survived because she was in Rean’s residence when the attack happened, but they didn’t know she was in his room.
Saria almost exploded in embarrassment. "Fuck you! Don’t speak like wanted something like that!" The Elf began to regret having come here.
"Hahaha!" Rean laughed out loud. As always, that proud elf was just too easy to tease. "So, where have you been since them?"
"Where else?" Saria spoke back. "I joined the other disciples of the sect and helped during the fight. To be more precise, I was more on the healing side and helped those who got injured to recover faster so they could return to the front."
With the evolution of her bloodline and Rean’s teaching about healing, she indeed was much better at it, definitely no worse than someone like Abi, for example. But that also made her not appear much during the fight as she was always on the back.
"I see..." Rean nodded, smiling. "Well then, everyone, we will take our leave."
Abi tried one last time, though. "Are you sure you don’t want to stay and research the robots’ technology with us?"
Rean shook his head. "I don’t. I already learned a lot, but I have more things to do and to be honest, I also don’t have all the time in the world. I just hope you guys will take care when researching that anomaly so you won’t be impacted by it."
"Very well..." Abi didn’t insist. "Remember, don’t talk about us outside. For all purposes and matters, the Divine Snow Mountain Sect is now gone. We all died in the Evernight World. It will be even better if you never let anyone know you came from the Divine Snow World."
"What will you do about new disciples?" Kentucky asked out of curiosity.
"The same as SANS-G01 did," Abi explained. "Of course, we are not going to kidnap anyone. We will silently step into the Divine Realm and visit the continents on the edge of the Evernight World, while the robots wait for us at the border. If we find good talents, we will recruit them as long as they are willing to come with us. Our Divine Snow Mountain Sect never forced anyone to be part of it, after all."
"That’s the best choice indeed." Even Roan agreed with that approach. Forced loyalty almost never worked as intended.
Suddenly, Saria asked Rean something through Divine Sense. ’Do you still have the gift I gave you?’
’The signet brooch? It’s in my Pocket Dimensional Realm. Why?’ Rean asked back. He got it from Saria after he found her in his residence. It was supposed to be a gift for the help he gave her back then. He kept it by the Elven Stone he got from Amaranca in the Divine Snow World. (Chapter 3494)
’Nothing... I just wanted to make sure you didn’t throw it away because it didn’t have any real use,’ she spoke back, seemingly satisfied Rean still had it.
Rean felt a little wronged. He wouldn’t throw a gift away unless it was really necessary. ’Is that how you see me? I’m not that bad, you know?’
’Shut up! I understand it now.’ Saira didn’t want to continue that conversation. ’By the way... Rick... Is Rick truly your name? It isn’t, right?’
’Why would you think that?’ Rean asked back, a little surprised.
’I just feel like it...’ which Saria gave a not very clear answer.
Rean pondered a bit. Saria had decided to stay with the Divine Snow Mountain Sect, so she wouldn’t be out of this place for many hundreds of years, most likely. ’Well, I guess there is no harm in telling you. My name is actually Rean, Rean Larks.’
’Rean, like elder Rean Lotan?’ Saria asked back as well. She didn’t expect Rean to have the same name as the Core Elder who took him as a disciple. Rean Lotan ended up dying that day when they were stuck inside the city barrier for the first time.
’The one and the same,’ Rean nodded.
’Rean Larks...’ Saria faintly smiled. ’Alright, I’ll keep that in mind.’
Meanwhile, Roan was having a talk with CAU03. Even though CAU03 didn’t like living beings, he came to like Roan... because Roan looked very much like a robot without sentience, such was his cold demeanor. "Are you guys coming back at some point?"
Roan shook his head. "If everything goes as planned, we won’t be returning to this place."
"I see..." CAU03 had heard that before a few times, but he still wanted to confirm. "Thank you for the lessons about warfare. Above all, thank you for helping us get rid of the loyalty-ensuring code."
Roan didn’t mind. "I was just helping the sect since they helped us, that was all." He then remembered something. "Have you decided who will take the EVO Unit?"
CAU03 nodded. "We did. Like the HAF100, that unit has incredible processing power and is an all-round unit, capable of performing all tasks to the same level as the specific units. That said, we decided to upload a HAF100 program into it later on as that program would be the most suited to that EVO Unit. We are modifying the program right now to cope with the EVO Unit’s differences. None of us sentient units will take it. Once and if the EVO Unit program gains sentience, it will already have the soul ready for integration. We believe that to be the best choice."
"Wouldn’t that probably take millions of years?" Roan asked back.
"We are used to waiting long times," CAU03 spoke back. Indeed, the robots right now took millions of years for the very first ones to gain sentience, so it wasn’t anything new to them.
Finally, the final farewells were given, and CAU03 got one of his CAU-E Units to join the twins’ group. That CAU-E will guide them through the Enernight World, avoiding the dangers there and preventing them from getting lost. Let’s not forget that without robots, no one can find their way in this place.
Yet, just as they were about to leave...
*Zush!*
Another unit suddenly appeared at the location. Everyone looked at it, recognizing the model instantly. It was a HAF100. To be more specific, it was Qwerty... or his rebuilt body, to be more specific.
"Qwerty, why are you here?" Roan asked, not expecting the robot’s sudden arrival.
"This unit has processed the task given by Master Rick and Morty," Qwerty spoke.
Rean felt like laughing. "What I gave you wasn’t really a task. It was something for you to think about on your own and reach an answer that satisfied you." All Rean said was that Qwerty should do whatever he wanted, but it wasn’t a task.
Qwerty seemed confused, failing to understand the meaning behind those words. Nonetheless... "This unit can’t comprehend it, but it has reached a partial conclusion. This unit has decided that the best outcome is to follow Master Rick and Morty."
"Oh?" Roan’s eyebrow raised a little. "And why is that? Staying at the robots city definitely looks like a much better choice, especially since everything a robot needs can be found here."
"This unit agrees," Qwerty said. "Yet, after researching all the information regarding what happened in the past months, this unit believes that perhaps following masters Rick and Morty is also an acceptable choice."
Rean and Roan looked at each other and then back at Qwerty. "That still hasn’t answered the question. Why?"
Qwerty went silent again, his newly added codes not able to come up with an answer. "This unit doesn’t know."
Roan turned around, preparing to leave. He wasn’t an idiot. He knew this Qwerty wasn’t the same one they lost a week ago. "That’s up to you, but we will expect you to pull your own weight. The idiot here can think about some upgrades for you as time goes by."
Rean looked at Roan. Does he think making parts for these robots without their manufacturing facilities was easy?
"That will not be necessary," Qwerty said out of nowhere, then...
*BOOM!*
An explosion was heard coming from the center of the city, and in just a few seconds, another Unit appeared at the location. It was the EVO Unit!
"What?!" Everyone was shocked by that sight. Why did the EVO Unit appear in this place?
Qwerty then touched the EVO Unit’s chest, and both bodies shined with light. It only took a few seconds, and then, Qwerty’s body fell from the skies, while the EVO Unit now looked at the twins. "I have now transfered my code into this Unit. With it, this Unit should be able to evolve on its own."
Everyone was speechless. When did he do that? Was that even possible? They all looked at the EVO Unit, unsure about what just happened.
