Chapter 3448: I’m Listening
*Knock, knock...*
"Rick, are you there?" Sure enough, Saria’s voice came from the other side of the door.
Rean scratched the back of his head, approaching the door. "Sorry, Saria. Something urgent came up, so I won’t be able to entertain you for a while. Just tell your elders I won’t be able to meet them. Until next time."
"Wait! I need your help! I hav..." Saira tried to insist, but her voice was cut short.
Not that she stopped to speak, but that Rean entered the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm. "Sigh... It still doesn’t feel quite right."
Roan snorted. "What doesn’t feel right is for you to make other people’s problems your own. And, as usual, it would also be my problem sooner or later. Just shut up and let’s go back cultivate."
Saria continued in front of Rean’s residence for several hours, but no one answered, regardless of how many times she tried. She finally gave up and closed her eyes, focusing on her VS Device. She was going to try to call Rean’s number directly. They had exchanged it back during the entrance exam.
Too bad there was no answer. Well, it was pretty obvious Rean didn’t want to hear about her elders’ invitation, so he wasn’t answering on purpose. "Rick..." She gritted her teeth, leaving the area and going after someone else after that.
Inside the Dimensional Realm, Rean looked at his CD and the various calls from Saria that he ignored. ’She sure is insisting on it...’ Still, he shook his head, focused on the Starlight Energy from his planet, and began to absorb it. Roan naturally did the same, while Kentucky focused on Divine Energy.
For the next few days, nothing happened, and Rean eventually forgot about Saria’s visit. Their cultivation was as slow as ever... if you could call that slow. Nonetheless, the decision of not using Starlight Energy from the Starlight Stones was still valid.
However, eight days after Saria left, she returned... although she wasn’t alone this time.
[Hum... Rean, there is someone wanting to see you outside.]
Rean opened his eyes, checking the outside through Sister Orb. "Her again? Who is the old elf?" Checking up close, Rean noticed the man’s status. "An elder of the sect?"
Rean turned to Roan, who obviously seemed irritated. Well, that wasn’t much of a use. "What do you think? Ignore the elder as well?"
Roan also looked at the old elf. From his attire, he was an elder but not a Core Elder. Since Rean was a Core Elder’s direct disciple, that old elf probably couldn’t ask much of him. But then again, it wasn’t like he could simply ignore an elder of the sect. That would definitely come back to bite their group later. "She sure is annoying. Can’t you use Lotan’s name to send them away?"
"Well... I can try to call him..." Rean considered his options. He did have Lotan’s number, after all. That said, he gave it a try.
-Hum? An elder of the sect wants to see you? Why are you calling me about that? Can’t you just check what he wants? If he comes up with anything ridiculous and tries to force you, then you can call me, but I doubt he will do that, considering your status as my Direct Disciple.-
Rean and Roan then noticed something. They believed this would become something crazy because of the Destiny Attraction of the system. It’s just that they couldn’t tell Lotan about it. So... they didn’t really have a good excuse to continue ignoring the elder that wouldn’t cause some attrition later.
"Fine!" Roan finally gave up. "Let’s go out and see what these two want. For the girl to bring her elder along, I’m pretty sure it is going to be some annoying bullshit."
A minute later, the entrance of the residence opened, and Saria entered it with the elder. There wasn’t anything special there. After all, the twins and Kentucky spent most of their time in the Dimensional Realm.
Rean brought the two to the living room, seemingly a little tired. "Saria, elder, I wasn’t intending to answer your call, but my master told me I should at least hear you. I just hope this isn’t anything that needs me to leave this residence as I’m at a critical point of my cultivation. I even completed two mandatory missions in advance just so I would have the next year and a half free."
That was a lie, but Saria and her elder didn’t know that. In the Living room, Roan waited on one of the seats, and Kentucky stayed on a corner, observing the meeting out of curiosity. The elder knew Roan and Kentucky, just like he knew Rean. This group was always breaking records. Roan and Kentucky’s contributions, especially when witnesses were necessary to prove the mission completions, were pretty obvious. There was even a conversation about Roan and Kentucky being taken as Direct Disciples by some other Core Elders. The only reason that didn’t happen was because Lotan intervened, saying they were all under his wing. It just wasn’t official.
Rean sat across the elder and Saria, looking at them. "Alright, go ahead. What is it you came here for? I believe I already refused the invitation."
Saria took the initiative. "Rick, sorry for bothering you again." Rean didn’t expect such a polite start of conversation coming from the girl, but he continued to listen. "It’s indeed about the invitation I brought you eight days ago."
Rean narrowed his eyes, and the old male elf took the conversation from there. "I’m Glorandal Magdi, as you know, an elder of the sect. I know you refused the invitation but listen to me first. The reason we want you to show us and teach us about your healing skills is not just because we want to improve ourselves. It is also because it caused a change to Saria’s bloodline."
Rean, Roan, and Kentucky looked at each other. They all knew Rean’s Instant Recovery Skill very well. Why would it cause a change in someone’s bloodline? "Alright, I’m listening."
