Chapter 3437: Too Late To Complain
If Lotan just knew Rean’s soul couldn’t be touched, he probably wouldn’t have said that. Nonetheless, Rean had to keep that plan of the Divine Snow Mountain Sect in mind. "Sigh... fine. So, when is it you intend to enter the Evernight World?"
"Not now," Lotan shook his head. "We are still preparing, trying to get as many disciples as possible. That’s why the recruitment this time was quite lax, and so will be the next ones. Otherwise, at least 50% of those who passed this last test would have failed instead. We need a fast foothold."
"What about the Divine Realm itself?" Rean asked. "What will happen to the sect once we get there? Nothing stops the Supreme Palace from sending its Divinity Realm experts after us at that time."
"We have Oclasio working on it," Lotan explained. "Part of the message he gave us was that he was going to get a place where we could stay. The Divine Snow World is already such a ridiculously gigantic place, sure the Divine Realm should have some corners where we can live. Even if there isn’t such a thing, we would still rather give it a try than risk becoming puppets."
Rean nodded and didn’t ask anymore. Using the same method as they used with Oclasio was out of the question. The target had to have amazing Light Element skills and go through a dangerous process to have the device attached to their souls. It was simply not viable for everyone.
Lotan then closed all the holographic screens, coming out of that isolated room with Rean. "So, are you in? You have already signed the contract, so there is no risk of you leaking this information anyway. Now it is up to you."
Well, the fact was that Roan had been hearing everything so far. Even Kentucky was kept in the loop, thanks to Sister Orb. ’What do you guys think?’
Roan was still on his way down the mountain, dragging Ridia along while Kentucky followed. ’Just accept it. We need to go to the Divine Realm at some point, and that might be our best way out. We still need to do our own investigations, and if we are right about the entrance to the Underworld, we can scrap this sect’s idea.’
Kentucky agreed with him. ’Indeed. Besides, it is not something that will happen now, so we can get Ridia back to her father to complete the system’s quest. I don’t see where we can lose here. Even better, they will have one of those robots given to you, right? That’s great!’
Rean nodded, and he actually was very interested in that robot. Even back in Lisan, he pretty much never got to experience Legendary Level Formations. What if those Robots really had such runes? That was an opportunity! ’Very well.’
"Alright," Rean nodded as he looked at Lotan. "I will take part in it. So, what now? Should I try to wake up one of those robots?"
"Not now," Lotan didn’t see a need for that. "It is better if no one knows they exist. Once activated, it will follow you everywhere. I know you could just keep it in a Pocket Dimensional Realm, but we don’t know what could happen in the following years. We better not risk it."
Lotan then took a blue badge out of his robe, passing it to Rean. "You can use this to get a lot of benefits here in the sect. You can even get some extra resources like Divine Stones for cultivation. Just don’t try to push it since it’s my name you will be using. In any case, being considered my direct disciple will prove to be quite a boost to your future."
Rean was more than happy to accept that. Free Divine Stones? Why would he refuse? "Thank you. Should I address you as Master then?"
"Something tells me you wouldn’t be speaking those words from heart..." Lotan spoke back with a sigh.
"Well..." Rean truly wouldn’t. It’s just that he didn’t care what he should call Lotan to start with. Lotan, Rean, Master, it was all the same.
"Forget it," Lotan shook his head. "Just use ’Master’ when we are in front of others. Otherwise, you can just use my name. Talking about being a Master, you would do well to truly become my disciple. You have the talent for it. I saw the entire test, especially how you used your Yang Energy to give that guy the win. Truly impressive. I will make sure you won’t regret it."
Rean refused nonetheless. He had too many masters recently... "I thank you for that, sir. But I’m truly not interested in becoming anyone’s disciple. I only joined the Divine Snow Mountain Sect exactly because here is where I could get the best resources and environment. As for the rest, I would rather rely on myself."
Lotan still found it difficult to believe a new recruit wouldn’t want to be his direct disciple. Not only that, he also found Rean somewhat suspicious. The problem was that the sect truly needed someone to control the Robot, and Rean... or Rick Sanchez... was the only one to have appeared so far. It was a bet they were willing to pay now that Rean had signed the Soul Binding Contract. "So be it. I won’t insist anymore. You can look for me if you need something. Meanwhile, you are free to do as you please. Of course, you still need to follow the sect rules and its requirements for disciples."
Rean was then guided to the common area of the Healing Hall before Lotan bid him farewell, returning to his office.
Yet, as the area was crowded with disciples, they all noticed the shining new badge on Rean’s chest. They looked at it with incredulity, respect, envy, and many other emotions. That could only mean one thing...
Someone took a deep breath, speaking in a low voice. "Rick Sanchez has become Elder Rean’s Direct Disciple..." They saw Rean follow Lotan into his office, so they all searched for his information since such things almost never happened. By the time Rean came out, they all knew through the sect’s network that he was ’Rick Sanchez,’ a newly recruited disciple.
Rean scratched the back of his head, not very happy with the unwanted attention. ’Well... too late to complain now.’
Meanwhile, Kentucky, Roan, and Sister Orb understood the forces that led them to these events.
’Yeap... the destiny attraction shit is still working perfectly...’
