Death... and me

Chapter 3432: Simpler

Chapter 3432: Simpler

Back in the Healing Hall, Lotan passed by the various workers and disciples, they all greeting him. Lotan just nodded at them and continued making his way to his office. As he did, those around noticed the other cultivator who followed Lotan. Naturally, that was Rean.

Rean knew that there was no escape, so he just followed Lotan instead of being dragged along. When they finally reached Lotan’s office, Rean went straight to the point. "Senior, I’m just a Void Tempering Realm Initial Stage expert. I’m sure there are others much better equipped to fulfill whatever request you have in mind."

Lotan shook his head. "Others much better? 127 points in the Healing Measurement. I might as well tell you this: You won’t find more than a hundred experts in our sect with that score, and they all dedicated their lives to the healing arts. You, on the other hand, are so young but already at this level. No, there aren’t others. It has to be you."

"Me what, exactly?" Rean was still confused. "I hope you aren’t having some weird ideas about me becoming your successor or anything like that. I might have joined the Divine Snow Mountain Sect, but that doesn’t mean I’m giving my life away. I will leave at some point to explore more of the world."

Lotan didn’t seem to mind. "Leave to explore? Not a big issue. As a member of the Divine Snow Mountain Sect, you will have access to most places in the Divine Snow World, even places you normally would never be allowed to enter. You only have a lot to gain as a disciple of our sect."

Lotan then sat down on his chair, bringing out the main topic in his mind. "You used your Light Element to bend Divine Sense, didn’t you?"

"This..." Rean was taken aback. That was the first time he heard someone saying how his Light Bending Skill worked. "How did sir find out?"

"Try to use your Divine Sense on me," Lotan didn’t explain and simply ordered.

Rean could already guess the reason, but he did check it anyway. Sure enough, Lotan could use the same Divine Sense Bending skill. He did have enough control over Light Element to achieve it. "So you can do the same thing as me..."

Lotan stopped bending, confirming Rean’s words. "I can understand your shock. Even in our Divine Snow Mountain Sect, those who can do what you and I can can be counted on one hand. To be more specific, there are you, me, and the Sect Master. No one else has enough control over the Light Element to be able to use it to bend Divine Sense. Well, we also don’t divulge how this ability works, so that is one more reason."

"That is also why I know you didn’t steal our sect’s skill. Since only the Sect Master and I know how to even use it, there is absolutely no way it could have leaked outside. The skill itself isn’t even described in any of the databases of the sect," Lotan concluded. "You came up with this skill on your own?"

Rean didn’t need to hide there. "Indeed. I was quite young, but my Light Element control was already quite good. After a long time of development, I understood that Divine Sense is also a source of Life Energy."

"Exactly," Lotan was even happier that Rean reached the same conclusion as he and the Sect Master. "There are many healing techniques from various elements. But if we talk about pure Life Energy, then Light Element is by far the best to deal with it. Using that logic, we can use Light Element to interact with the Life Energy in the Divine Senses, thus bending it around us to prevent others from finding our locations. Of course, it has its flaws."

"Distance from the source," Rean obviously knew its flaws better than anyone else.

"Indeed," Lotan continued. "That is the one thing that we are powerless about, but it doesn’t mean it is any less incredible. We can even use it to detect experts with much higher cultivation than ours, and as long as we aren’t too close, we are invisible. Say, can you use your Light Element to disappear?" Lotan said that, bending light around his body and making it look like the chair was empty in front of Rean.

Rean faintly smiled and did the same. Soon, both Rean and Lotan disappeared from the room, just to reappear a second later.

"Hahaha!" Lotan was truly happy to have found Rean. "Yes, you will do nicely."

"Do what?" Rean was still waiting to hear what it was Lotan had in mind.

Lotan got up, moving to a room adjacent to his office. Naturally, Rean followed. As soon as Rean entered that room, Sister Orb’s voice echoed in Rean’s mind.

[This place is completely isolated from the outside. The Werdlem Empire’s signal can’t reach inside. Don’t worry, though. Your connection with Roan is still intact.]

’Was I supposed to feel happy with that?’ Rean asked back in disappointment.

Leaving that aside, Rean paid attention to Lotan as he turned on various holographic screens in the room. Finally, Lotan began to explain. "Have you ever heard about the Werdlem Empire?"

Rean nodded. He knew that the high-level experts of the Divine Snow World all knew about the truth of the outside world. "Yes, they are the real ones in control, and the Supreme Palace is its main representative in our Universe."

Lotan was taken aback. He wouldn’t be surprised if Rean had heard that name, but he didn’t expect Rean’s knowledge to go that deep. "How do you know that?"

"Nothing you can’t buy in the black market as long as you have the necessary funds," Rean added with a smile. It wasn’t a lie. The Information Black Market had that information. It’s just that the twins didn’t need to pay for it since they came from outside anyway.

"Sigh... those guys are truly playing with fire," Lotan shook his head in dismay. "Well, that matters little. Since you know the truth, things become simpler."
