Chapter 3419: Scam

"Hehe! Would you look at that? I got exactly 3000 points." Rean spoke, his expression full of confidence. Truth be told, Rean stopped pouring Divine Energy into the cube at exactly the 3000 mark. Otherwise, that number would have gone much, much higher. If he had used Sky Energy, perhaps the cube wouldn’t even be able to measure it.

Cualo didn’t look as happy, though. However, he didn’t intend to simply take it down. He now believed he was led into this result... even though he was the one who selected that challenge. "I do not accept-" Cualo was just about to refuse that result when suddenly...

*Kabrum!*

Another bolt of lightning fell from the skies, splitting a cultivator into two parts not far from him. That cultivator’s token then flew on its own to another participant, and Cualo saw how that token’s points transferred on its own into the guy’s token instead.

"W-what happened?" those who didn’t pay attention couldn’t help but ask.

The answer quickly appeared. "That guy lost the bet he had agreed and refused to pay. As soon as he did, well, you saw the result."

Cualo swallowed hard, and his eyes turned to the sky. The sky was still clear as the mountaintop far surpassed the clouds. Yet, somehow, Cualo felt as if there was a mass of lightning just waiting to fall on his head.

"A-Ahem..." Cualo bitterly smiled and sent his Divine Sense into his own token. "That was a fair result, friend. Here, these are my points." And just like that, he transferred all his 859 points to Rean. Nothing happened to him after that, which showed that only those who refused to accept their losses would die in this place.

Rean patted Cualo’s shoulder, laughing. "Hehe! It is always good to see when people keep their word. Brother, we should go out to have a drink one of these days."

Cualo felt like crying as he nodded. "Perhaps we should..."

However, Cualo noticed something. Even though he now had zero points, none of the elders came forward to tell him to leave. Not only that, he wasn’t teleported away, nor did he receive any notification he failed. "This..."

Rean also noticed that. "Even if you don’t have more points to bet, that doesn’t mean you can’t try other ways. You still have over 79 hours, so how about you go around and see if you can acquire more points? Perhaps you still have a chance."

Cualo glanced at Rean. "Would you be willing to sell some?"

Rean was already walking away, though. "No, but if you get more points, I can definitely compete with you again in other ways. Let me know."

Cualo sighed, but he couldn’t do much. In the end, he turned around and dove into the crowd, trying to find some way of acquiring points again.

Rean returned to Roan’s side, showing his token. "2118 Points. Not a bad start, right? How are you doing?"

Roan glanced at him for a moment and showed his own Token. "3052."

Rean’s mouth twitched in response. "I only left for like ten minutes! How did you get that many points during it?"

Roan couldn’t be happier to humiliate Rean. "Simple, I’m smart, you are not. Now, fuck off while I try to bait a few more idiots like you."

Rean wanted to retort, but the results spoke for themselves, so he let Roan alone. He went to Kentucky after that, who was having a small competition with another five Demon Birds in a corner of the field. "Hey, Daffy, what are you doing there?"

Kentucky faced off against the other Demon Birds, they all staring at each other, none of them moving a single muscle. They stood in midair in a line, seemingly waiting for a signal. "We are all confident in our flight speed, so we all decided to bet our points together. The winner takes all! However, to make things interesting, no Divine Energy is allowed. We can only fly with the strength of our wings." Kentucky commented.

Rean shrugged, turning around to leave. "Okay, once you win, make sure to not bet your points anymore. You should have enough to buy a pass if you also clear a requirement."

The other demon birds heard that and almost burst into laughter. They were all confident in their abilities. Besides, Kentucky wasn’t really fat anymore, but he definitely didn’t look as slick as them. They didn’t know if they could win against each other, but they all agreed that they definitely wouldn’t lose to someone like Kentucky.

Kentucky would come back twenty minutes later with a token carrying 4143 points...

But before that, Rean decided to check on the member of his group he was most concerned about, Ridia. He found the girl not far away, standing by Zangeshu’s side. Those two were together with another bunch of cultivators, spirits, and demon beasts in a big circle. Some kind of bet seemed to have already started, so Rean could only observe and not take part. "What are you doing here?"

Zangeshu didn’t look at Rean and let Ridia explain instead.

"Everyone here bet 600 points each," Ridia started. "Can you see that sphere floating in the middle?"

Rean nodded and waited for Ridia to continue. "It has been like that since the start, and it probably won’t change anytime soon. At some point, it will change color. As soon as it does, everyone will try to use their Divine Senses to resolve the runes inside... or something like that. I don’t understand very well."

Rean used his Divine Sense to check the sphere, and he could tell it was quite complex. However, he couldn’t penetrate it with his Divine Sense as the sphere seemed to repeal it. "Wendy... why are you even taking part in this bet? You know nothing about runes."

"Zangeshu asked me to add 300 points on top of his own 300 to attract more participants. They are all formations nasters..." She explained.

"It’s not nasters; it’s masters," Rean corrected her. "Oh well, if it works for you guys, then so be it." Zangeshu was taught by him, so Rean doubted he would lose anyway. That said, he also left those two alone.

The last member of his group Rean checked on was Rifindio, the Camazotz Bat. At the moment, he was messing around with another group of bats from different races. ’Those guys probably would never imagine they were in the presence of a Camazotz Bat...’ Rean thought to himself before ignoring it. ’Well, let’s see who I can scam for a few more points...’
