Chapter 3418: 3000
"So... basically, we need to convince others that it would be better for them to give us their points," Kentucky spoke. "How will we even do that? Attacking other participants is out of the question. I highly doubt anyone would just give up their points, either. Perhaps we should threaten them?"
Rean shook his head. "Most of those taking part in this test came from various different continents and have their own backgrounds. No one is really afraid of others now that they know they can’t be directly attacked. However, there are other ways of making this."
Rean quickly ran to the field, using his Divine Sense to speak loudly. "Everyone! You all noticed that we don’t have enough points to buy the sect pass. That said, the only way to get points is to get those points from other participants. Since attacking others is prohibited, how about we make some bets or maybe some little competitions between ourselves?"
A cultivator by the name of Forvani came forward, nodding his head. "That is indeed a good idea, but that’s not the only way to get points from each other." Forvani looked at everyone. "I’m pretty rich! Does anyone here want to sell their points to me? I’m sure I’ll make the time and hardships you experienced so far worth it."
Someone snorted, his name being Cualo, stepping forward and bringing his token out. "Is that so? Very well! 100 Rank Five Divine Stones for every point I have. I have a total of 849 points."
Forvani’s mouth twitched. "Are you making fun of me? There is no way in hell a single point would be worth that much! I can give you 100 Rank Four Divine Stones for all the points you have, though."
"Hahaha!" Cualo laughed out loud. "Ridiculous! I don’t know from what shit corner you came from to think you gave a good price, but anyone willing to sell their points for less than what I mentioned would be simply an idiot."
Forvani faintly smiled. "Is that so? Alright, in that case, we can simply wait here. We have a little less than 80 hours before this test is over, and we will all fail. Let’s see if no one of you will sell their points to me when the time is almost running down."
Rean approached Forvani, patting his shoulder. "Brother, your strategy also has a huge flaw. What if people conduct their own trades, bets, or challenges before that? When the timer is almost over, perhaps there won’t be a single point available for you to take anymore."
"This..." Forvani didn’t have an answer for that. Naturally, the idea of waiting until near the end wouldn’t work.
Cualo agreed with Rean there. "This friend here is right. Besides, even if everyone holds to their points and waits until the near end, what if all of us decide to hold to our points to see if someone would sell theirs? In the end, we would all fail together."
Rean walked to the front, showing his token, not hiding the points in there at all. "I have 1259 points."
*Wow...*
Rean’s words caused quite a bit of a ruckus. Sure enough, Rean truly had more points than most, and by a big margin. Nonetheless, Rean ignored their surprise and continued. "I’m willing to try some amicable challenges with you guys using my points. Does anyone here have any good ideas?"
"Me!" Cualo quickly reached Rean since he was the closest. If he could take Rean’s points, that would be the best. "How about we try a simple display of abilities? Are you confident in your energy reserves?"
Rean smiled at Cualo, nodding his head. "What a coincidence, I indeed am very confident in my reserves of energy. How do you want to do this?"
Cualo’s eyes lit up, and he quickly reached for one of the elders of the sect, who was watching the event from the sides. "Senior, would you be able to provide us with a Divine Energy Measurement Device?"
As if he had already expected such requests to come in, the elder nodded without complaining. With a wave of his head, a cube covered in who knows how many tiny runes appeared in the open field. "Is that enough?"
Cualo couldn’t be happier. "Friend, the device was provided by the sect, so there is no risk of cheating. You won’t go back on your word now, right?"
"Hahaha!" Rean came forward. "I have such a big chance to acquire some good points, so why would I?"
Everyone quickly understood what Rean and Cualo were trying to do. Like a dam that broke out, the participants began to come up with their own bets, challenges, and other ways of fighting for the points from their adversaries. Many devices and other apparatus quickly appeared on the field as the participants came up with many weird ways of deciding the victors.
Rean and Cualo saw that but ignored it.
"So, how many points do you want to bet?" Cualo asked.
Rean faintly smiled, placing his token on top of the cube. "I’m all in!"
"What?!" Cualo was taken aback. He thought Rean would start with a hundred points at most. Never would he have thought Rean would bet every single point he had. However, Cualo’s expression brightened as he put his own token on top of the cube as well. "Hehe! I admire your courage, friend. Too bad you selected the wrong opponent. I don’t have as many points as you, but I will also bet it all. You won’t mind that, right?"
"How could I? Hahaha!" Rean was just as delighted. "If I lose, I lose. I’ll simply try again when the next recruitment takes place. It is that simple."
Cualo nodded, satisfied. He was a member of the Turmuria Humanoid Race, which had an unusually high capacity to compress Divine Energy in their Dantians. That said, even though their Dantians looked normal from the outside when checked with Divine Senses, the fact was that they could hold more Divine Energy than most. That’s where his confidence came from, and he was particularly happy Rean accepted his challenge.
Rean and Cualo quickly put their hands on the cube and had their Divine Energy measured at the same time. A holographic screen appeared, and their reserves were calculated in points as both sent their Divine Energies into the cube.
At first, Cualo smiled confidently. A minute later, his smile diminished. Two minutes into that small challenge, his expression turned bleak. Finally, at the three-minute mark, he looked at the cube as if he were looking at a ghost.
*Plin!*
Then, the final results were shown.
-Cualo Glovihan: 2148-
-Rick Sanchez: 3000-
