Chapter 1123: The Real Story Starts Now

White mist escaped Nicole’s lips as she panted for breath. Casting the spell took a heavy toll on her, but with this, she had finally granted Baradiel’s mission to seal the monsters once more.

“Rest for a while before we go back,” Baradiel said. “You did well, Nicole.”

“Hah… I’m not getting paid enough for this,” Nicole complained as she wiped the blood at the corner of her lips.

She felt very weak, and yet, she felt satisfied, knowing she was able to help Ethan protect Midgard, even if he wasn’t there to see it.

But just as she planned to recover from her exhaustion, something unexpected happened.

A loud explosion reached her ears, and the world of snow and ice started to stir.

Baradiel looked in disbelief as cracks appeared on the block of ice that sealed the monsters in place.

It didn’t take her long to understand what just happened.

“I didn’t have enough divinity to reinforce their prison,” Baradiel muttered as she realized Nicole had still not reached the level where she could perform this grand sealing technique using her power.

The young lady’s body wasn’t compatible with Baradiel’s Divinity.

As a result, she hadn’t been able to bring out the full power of the sealing ritual that would’ve imprisoned the monsters for thousands of years.

“Dodge to the right!” Baradiel shouted, breaking Nicole out of her daze.

A moment later, a lightning bolt hit the place where the young lady knelt earlier, creating a crater that was a few meters wide.

“Damn,” Nicole cursed as she forced herself to a standing position. “This is probably the reason why people hate working overtime without pay.”

“Now is not the time for jokes,” Baradiel commented. “Lend me your body, so we can escape this place.”

Nicole didn’t hesitate and allowed Baradiel to take control of her body.

However, the monsters had already broken free from their prison, completely surrounding the Fallen Angel, who was on her last legs.

Flapping her wings, which were starting to crack, Baradiel took off to the skies.

Her only goal was to take Nicole to safety.

Unfortunately, she was a step too late.

One of the flying monsters who had the strength of a Colossi intercepted her in the sky and lashed at her with its tail.

“Kuhh!” Baradiel used what remained of her power to create an ice shield that took the brunt of the attack, but she was still sent crashing toward the ground.

Doing her best, she wrapped Nicole’s body in a block of ice, protecting her from the impact of falling on the ground.

At the moment of impact, the block of ice remained firm before cracks appeared on its surface,l a few seconds later.

It didn’t take long for the ice to shatter, revealing a young lady covered in injuries from head to foot.

“I’m sorry,” Baradiel muttered before she fell to the ground, returning the body to Nicole’s control.

Pain wracked her body the moment she regained her senses.

A groan escaped her lips as she did her best to prevent herself from screaming in pain.

As tears streamed down her cheeks, and blood spilled at the corner of her lips, she felt the ground tremble as tens of thousands of monsters started to enclose her in an encirclement.

The skies were littered by Flying Monsters, and on the ground stood countless horrors.

Although they understood that the young lady who had come to imprison them once more was dying, they still didn’t lower their guard and made sure that she would not be able to escape them even in death.

One of the monsters unleashed a lightning bolt aimed at the defenseless young lady with the intention of finally ending her life.

As Nicole’s vision blurred with tears, she suddenly heard a sigh reach her ear.

The lightning bolt that was shot in her direction dispersed as another lightning bolt collided against it.

A moment later, a young man appeared beside Nicole and knelt down beside her.

“What am I to do with you?” Ethan said as he gently raised the young lady from the ground, propping her up into a seated position.

“How did you find me?” Nicole asked. “You shouldn’t have known about this place.”

“You’re right,” Ethan replied. “I didn’t know of this place at first, but I always know where you girls are because of this.”

Ethan lightly patted Nicole’s lower abdomen, where a mark was glowing faintly.

He had recently acquired a power from a Progenitor that allowed him to teleport to the location of someone he had a very strong connection with.

Since his Origin Crystal was made of the powers of his lovers, he was connected to them in more ways than one.

This allowed the young man to go where they were with just a thought, crossing over worlds and dimensions to appear wherever they might be.

“So, what’s the deal with these monsters?” Ethan asked, looking at Nicole’s battered and injured body, the sight of which made his heart ache.

The young lady briefly told him that they should run away because these monsters were immortal and practically invincible.

After listening to her story, the young man smiled faintly before looking at her with eyes filled with affection.

“I’m sorry, but can you lend me your strength one more time?” Ethan asked as he looked at the young lady in his arms, whose life was trickling away like sand in an hourglass.

Even though blood seeped at the corner of her lips, it didn’t diminish her beauty, still looking like the proud and confident lady Ethan had seen for the first time in the academy.

Her eyes, though red as blood, were still clear, and it made him fall in love with her all over again.

“I’m dying, and you’re still trying to take advantage of me?” Nicole asked in a teasing tone.

“Do you want me to leave you here?” Ethan asked back with a smile.

“You want to die?”

“Hahaha. I’m just joking.”

“That didn’t sound like a joke to me.”

Even in this helpless situation, he couldn’t help but tease her. She knew this as well, so she just played along with him even though she was hurting.

The young man lowered his head and kissed her soft lips.

The kiss was sweet, and yet, it tasted like blood.

And through this kiss, he passed some of his lifespan to her, saving her from the brink of death for the second time in her life.

When the kiss ended, he laid her down gently on the ground before standing up to face the monsters who had come to end their lives.

Ethan stood up and summoned his wand, pointing it at the countless monsters who had come to end their lives.

Countless portals appeared behind him as his subordinates answered his call.

Dantalion, Sebastian, Ethan’s Other Half, Dainsleif, and Aion sneered at the “immortal, and invincible monsters” who were about to finally meet their maker.

Faced with such overwhelming enemies, they didn’t show any traces of fear in their eyes, for they knew that there was nothing for them to fear.

“The Prologue has ended.”

Ethan said as he held the wand in his hand tightly.

He had every intention of annihilating all of those who had hurt his future wife, who only wished to protect the world where they would live happily ever after.

“The real story starts now.”
