Villain Ch 1043. Same Story, Different Narrative

An hour later, after a solid workout, Allen and Gerry sat on the bench near the weights. Allen wiped the sweat from his forehead, taking a long drink from his water bottle. His muscles ached, but it was the good kind of pain, the kind that reminded him he’d worked hard.

“Man, I’m wiped,” Gerry said, stretching his arms above his head before sitting back down. “But that was solid. We should definitely hit legs next week, and maybe throw in some core work.”

Allen nodded, still catching his breath. “Yeah, next week. I’ll be better by then.”

Gerry chuckled. “Hey, no complaints here. I’m just glad you didn’t collapse halfway through.”

They continued to chat, mostly about workout plans for next week and random fitness-related stuff—what new protein shakes to try, which exercises they were thinking about incorporating into their routine. Allen was finally feeling more relaxed, ready to call it a day and hit the showers.

But just as they were about to get up, Mark approached them. He had a friendly smile on his face, but there was something curious in his eyes.

“Hey, fellas,” Mark greeted, giving them both a nod. “Good session today?”

“Yeah, it was a good one,” Allen replied, standing up to stretch. “We’re just wrapping up.”

Mark lingered, his expression shifting slightly as he scratched the back of his head. “So, uh… I couldn’t help but overhear some of your conversation earlier. Something about, uh… Allen’s girlfriends?”

Allen tensed for a moment. He shot Gerry a sideways glance, who just gave him an innocent shrug.

“Yeah, you could say that,” Allen replied, trying to keep his tone casual. “Just… a little personal stuff, nothing major.”

Mark raised an eyebrow, his curiosity deepening. “Personal stuff, huh? And, correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t Sophia your ex?”

“Yeah, she’s my ex,” Allen confirmed, his voice more clipped than he intended.

Mark hesitated for a moment before asking the next question. “I heard something, though… Is it true she, uh, cheated on you?”

Allen’s jaw clenched slightly. “Yeah,” he said, his voice tight. “That’s true.”

Gerry chimed in with a nod. “That’s exactly why I dragged his ass to the gym back then. You know there’s no better medicine for a broken heart than lifting heavy things.”

Mark frowned, clearly deep in thought. “Yeah, I get that. But, uh… Sophia told me and some other people a different story.”

Allen’s brows furrowed. “What story?”

Mark glanced between them, clearly unsure whether he should say anything, but Allen’s directness didn’t leave him much room to back out. “Well,” Mark began cautiously, “Sophia said it was just a misunderstanding… but she thinks you hate her. That’s why she still harbors feelings for you. She told me she’s tried dating other guys, but it never really works out for her.

She, uh, kind of implied it’s because of how things ended between you two.”

Allen blinked, completely taken aback. A mixture of shock and disgust twisted in his stomach, and he could feel his face flushing with a mix of frustration and confusion. “What?!” he blurted out, his voice sharp with disbelief.

Gerry immediately shot Allen a knowing look, the kind that said ‘I told you this was coming’ without needing to say a word. His smirk was barely contained, but it wasn’t the usual teasing grin—there was something serious behind it now.

Mark held up his hands as if to calm the situation. “I’m just telling you what she said, man. She thinks the whole thing was some big misunderstanding, but it’s obvious you want nothing to do with her.”

Allen huffed, crossing his arms as he tried to process what he’d just heard. A misunderstanding? That’s what Sophia was calling it now?

“Look, Mark,” Allen said, his voice low but firm, “there’s no misunderstanding here. I found her in bed with another guy. Caught them both red-handed. And I don’t mean just sitting there, chatting. I mean doing it. Right there.”

Mark’s expression shifted into one of shock. “Wait… you actually caught her?”

Allen nodded, his jaw tightening as the memory resurfaced, sharp and painful even though he had done his best to bury it. “Yeah. I walked in, saw the whole thing. There’s no ‘misunderstanding’ about it. She was with him, and she didn’t even try to deny it.”

Gerry, who had been quietly listening until now, finally spoke up, his tone a little more serious. “That’s the thing, Mark. It wasn’t just a fight or a stupid argument that got blown out of proportion. She cheated on him, plain and simple. And she didn’t care when she got caught. That’s why Allen cut ties with her completely.”

Mark stood there, his face a mix of surprise and awkward discomfort. He clearly hadn’t expected the situation to be that black-and-white. “Man… she made it sound like it was something else. Like, you two just had a falling out.”

Allen let out a bitter laugh, shaking his head. “Of course, she did. She’s been twisting the story to make herself look like the victim ever since. I’ve tried to move on, but I keep hearing these things, how she’s talking to people, telling them I’m the one who’s got it wrong. It’s been exhausting.”

Gerry crossed his arms, nodding in agreement. “Exactly. She’s been painting herself as the victim this whole time. Bet she’s coming to the gym just because of Allen, too.”

Allen groaned. “It’s too obvious. She was never really into fitness before we broke up. Now, suddenly she’s a regular at the same gym I’ve been going to? Come on, it’s not a coincidence.”

Gerry smirked, clearly enjoying how ridiculous the situation was. “Oh, and not to mention the gaming thing. You’ve been a hardcore gamer for as long as I’ve known Allen, but Sophia? She didn’t even know what a gaming console was. Now she’s all over the gaming scene, trying to get into the same stuff he is into.”

Mark grimaced at that, his face twisting into a mixture of discomfort and understanding. “So, she’s kinda… obsessive, huh?”

Gerry scoffed. “Obsessive? More like a crazy ex. I mean, who changes their entire personality after a breakup just to try and stay in someone’s orbit?”
