[Chapter 273: One-Sided Battle]
On the second floor, Hierro's M249 machine gun roared nonstop, providing a suppressive fire for a short time. Morentes took aim with his sniper rifle once again, taking out a security guard who dared to peek out, blood erupting from the back of the man's chest.
...
A SUV skidded to a halt in front of the villa, and Carlos spun the steering wheel, positioning the passenger side toward the entrance. Before the vehicle completely stopped, Hawke opened the back door, jumped out, and took cover behind the rear wheel. Carlos moved equally quickly, ducking behind the front wheel.
Gunfire erupted, bullets hitting the front of the SUV. Hawke unhooked a grenade from his tactical vest, pulled the pin, pressed the trigger, and lobbed it toward the villa entrance. The villa's front door had already been blasted open by Campos with a rocket; the grenade flew straight inside.
Boom!
The explosion echoed, and a cloud of smoke and debris billowed out from the villa entrance. The two security guards hiding at the entrance were not dead yet, and their bodies kept twitching.
Hawke rolled out, taking cover against the wall beside the door. As he tried to assess the situation inside, he thrust his gun ahead, pulling the trigger in a wild spray of bullets, not caring whether he hit anything.
...
"Second floor!" came a voice through the earpiece.Tat-tat-tat----
The machine gun fired again, followed by screams from the second floor. The firepower disparity was overwhelming.
...
Suddenly, gunfire, explosions, and cries echoed from the northern side of the villa as Guti and Raul climbed the lamp pole and leaped over the wall, launching a surprise attack from the side.
...
The buzzing sound of a truck engine approached as a pickup pulled up beside the SUV. Once Garcia parked the truck, Campos shouted, "RPG!"
Both Hawke and Carlos stuck their guns out, filling the inside of the villa with random fire to cover for Campos.
...
On the neighboring villa's rooftop, Hierro accelerated his gunfire to suppress the enemy.
...
Campos hefted the rocket launcher, aimed at the villa's front door, and fired off a rocket. Hawke ducked back while changing the nearly empty magazine.
Boom!
...
Inside the villa, a violent explosion went off, ringing in everyone's ears. Three security guards hiding in the living room in preparation for an ambush had two killed instantly and one severely injured.
...
"Go in! Go in!" Hawke ordered.
Garcia leaped out of the pickup, holding an MP5, leading the charge inside. Juan followed closely behind, brandishing a Remington shotgun. Hawke and Carlos followed, with Campos covering the rear.
At the same time, Hawke reminded, "Reload!"
Garcia charged through the doorway, firing three rounds at a silent target on the left. Juan swung his gun right, blasting a shell that exploded the head of a downed man.
These former Mexican drug enforcement officers, who had endured severe battles, understood the importance of not showing mercy.
From the north came the sound of breaking glass while Raul's voice crackled over the radio, "We've breached the side entrance."
Hawke commanded, "Eliminate all enemies."
Garcia stepped into the living room, where smoke and dust filled the air. He spotted a woman trying to rise from the floor near the staircase leading to the second floor.
...
Melissa's assistant had escaped relatively unscathed; when the rocket struck the living room, she had merely been knocked down from the force of the explosion.
"Don't shoot..." the assistant murmured, seeing someone approach.
But her words hadn't even fully escaped her lips when Garcia quickly turned his MP5 toward her.
Tat-tat-tat----
The short bursts rang out, and the assistant collapsed to the ground. Hawke followed right behind, shifting his gun to the right, opening fire on the sofa where another injured guard lay and an unconscious guard still remained.
Another corpse was taken down by Carlos who was nearby.
Simultaneously, screams erupted from the garage.
Over the radio, Morentes's voice called in, "There's someone in the garage!"
...
In the garage, chaos erupted amidst explosions and gunfire. Melissa pulled out a Glock 19 from her handbag, trying to maintain her composure. "Stay calm, we have elite security!"
Just as she finished speaking, machine-gun fire surged through the area, causing Andy Carroll and the bodyguard, Melanie, both well-versed in firearms, to turn pale.
The security team was only equipped with a few portable submachine guns; how could they contend with light machine guns? Not to mention RPGs.
As explosions and gunshots continued, Carroll radioed the security chief and other personnel, instructing them to gather at the garage to protect Melissa.
Initially, a few responded, but soon silence fell.
Carroll remained more composed than Melissa during this chaos, saying, "Get in the car; we're ramming through!"
A few of them climbed into the more heavily armored ambulance's back, signaling the driver to charge forward.
...
The garage door opened, and before the vehicle could start, it attracted the attention of Hierro and Morentes on the neighboring rooftop.
Fearing a horde of gunmen, Hierro, not knowing what lay behind the garage's electric door, directed his M249 machine gun toward that direction and squeezed the trigger.
Tat-tat-tat----
Gunfire erupted, riddling the aluminum garage door with over twenty bullet holes.
Bullets struck the vehicle and ignited sparks within the garage.
Bang!
After the sniper fire, the windshield shattered as the driver along with the backrest of his seat was penetrated by bullets.
...
"Close the door!" Carroll shouted.
The female bodyguard quickly shut the electric door.
...
There was panic in the back of the ambulance, and rebellious girl Rachel was pulled to the floor by Veronica. She looked up just in time to see the evil woman who beat her lying next to her.
Rachel spat out the screw in her mouth, pinched it between her fingers, aimed it at Melissa's beautiful face, and stroked it hard.
All attention was diverted to the gunfire, leaving Rachel unnoticed.
Suddenly, Melissa felt a sharp pain across her face, as if something had cut through her delicate skin. Blood rushed into her right eye, transforming her vision into a shade of red.
Rachel succeeded in her first strike, and it was like stealing something from Paris's house, and she did not intend to stop with just once. She swung her hand again for another strike.
Melissa saw Rachel's move and extended her right hand, quickly pulling the trigger on her Glock 19.
With a bang, Rachel's hand fell feebly toward Melissa, collapsing beside her, blood pooling from her head.
"Ah--"
Veronica witnessed her daughter fall before her eyes, her face morphed in madness. She lunged at Melissa, her long nails clawing like a wildcat across Melissa's face.
With her mouth agape, she bit down on Melissa's neck.
Melissa cried out in agony, the gun pressed against Veronica, as she pulled the trigger repeatedly.
Every round of the magazine was emptied.
When the gunfire ceased, Veronica slipped from Melissa's grip.
Melanie and Carroll hurried over, attempting to lift Melissa.
...
Meanwhile, the five-member assault team led by Garcia turned toward the garage area.
Garcia took cover by the doorway to fire at an angle, while Juan dashed in, aiming for the vehicle.
Hawke followed closely, spotting the ambulance Morentes had mentioned. He raised his M4 rifle, aiming for the center of a chest level, firing continuously until the magazine went empty.
Concerns about surrender or capture didn't matter at that moment; survival was paramount. Bullets striking vital points meant death, no matter whether it was friend or foe.
Carlos, following closely behind, made a similar choice.
Campos stood guard at the door while Garcia quickly reloaded to ensure their firepower remained strong.
...
Inside the ambulance, Carroll sustained at least a dozen gunshot wounds; one shot exploded his head, slumping him against the medical equipment, dead on impact.
The female bodyguard, Melanie, dutifully shielded Melissa from a few ricochets, but her breaths began to fade.
Among the medical team members, apart from two who were injured and fortunate to survive, the others were killed in the crossfire.
...
Hawke replaced his magazine and shouted, "Cease fire! Cease fire!"
Gunfire halted.
Hawke signaled with his hand.
Carlos and Garcia took their positions by the ambulance door while Juan opened the compartment.
As the door swung wide, a waft of blood filled the air.
The two medical personnel opened their mouths to speak.
Carlos and Garcia fired simultaneously, leaving the two slumped in their pool of blood.
Juan climbed in to check and said, "Veronica and Rachel are dead! This is Carroll; he's dead too!"
He examined the body of the female bodyguard, revealing Melissa's trembling form beneath her.
"There's still someone alive here," Juan remarked.
Hawke entered the back, grabbing a long strand of hair, revealing a blood-smeared face.
This face had a long gash from the forehead down to the earlobe -- terrifying to behold -- but Hawke recognized her as one of his enemies, Melissa Ackerman, the daughter of Buddy Ackerman.
The chairman of Ackerman Films, overseer of the Ackerman Foundation, and the immediate superior of Barack Bernanke.
Realizing who stood before her, bleeding and in pain, Melissa gasped, "Don't kill me! I have money, wealth beyond your imagination! Just let me..."
Hawke pressed her head down, slamming it against the truck floor.
One of her front teeth flew out; the rest of her plea remained unvoiced.
"Tie her up and gag her," Hawke ordered Juan. "Just don't let her die."
Looking to the others, he added, "Clear the area! Take all communication devices and identification documents!"
...
Campos, Garcia, and Carlos exited the garage to reunite with Raul and Guti, splitting into two groups to sweep the villa.
They led with grenades, clearing all rooms of the last two security guards, collecting everyone's cell phones, walkie-talkies, and ID cards.
...
Juan twisted Melissa's arms behind her back, securing them with zip ties before taking out pre-prepared duct tape to seal her mouth.
After the villa was thoroughly cleared, Juan held his gun to Melissa's back, escorting her out of the garage as Hawke brought up the rear.
With his gun hanging at his side, Hawke removed one of the grenades from his tactical vest, tossing it into the ambulance.
As the thunderous explosion rocked the area, they had already traversed through the living room.
...
On the neighboring villa's rooftop, Hierro continued to lay down fire while Morentes maintained a watchful eye on critical spots, prepared for any remaining concealed threats.
...
Hawke and his group climbed into two vehicles, driving away from the villa.
Speeding up, Hawke shouted into the radio, "Retreat! All units retreat!"
Garcia glanced at his watch. "Under twenty minutes!"
Campos noted, "An absolute firepower advantage combined with a night raid, it's been a one-sided battle."
...
On the villa rooftop, Hierro emptied his machine gun's magazine before ducking down, swiftly headed downstairs.
Morentes followed closely behind.
They descended, hopped into their vehicle, and sped away.
