The Primordial Record

Chapter 1339: Every Journey Must End

Rowan could not make a single physical movement under the oppression of the World Stele, the force field that surrounded his body which was usually a few million miles from his skin was now pressed tight against him, and if not for the toughness of his flesh, his forcefield would have been pressed into his body.

His sentient energy stores were pushing against the immense force on his body even without him doing anything, their tiny cries of equal rage and collective mirthfulness, as they encouraged each other to fight against the forces pressing Rowan were a bit amusing to him.

"Yi…yiii… Push, everyone put your back into it. I said your backs!’

This pressure could not affect the internal workings of his dimension, but that was almost of no help to Rowan because whatever he could bring out of his dimension would be affected by this force, and except for several unique powers he had inside of him, anything else would be crushed into pieces. It was extremely clear to him that unless he gained successive bursts of power that was equal to his ascension from the third dimension to the fifth, he would not be able to fight against this power.

Despite all of this, what Rowan was concerned about was the situation involving the Eye of Time. How was Thenos able to bring down a fragment of a Primordial with a single look?

The angered shriek from the Eye of Time interrupted his thought processes,

"You… You… Bastards, how dare you touch me with your foul aura! Damned Singularity, release me at this moment and worship at my feet!"

Rowan did not know if he should laugh or cry, ’My great enemy has now become an idiot.’

Nevertheless, he still breathed a sigh of relief. Rowan was able to place his mind at ease when he realized that for all the power that the Eye of Time possessed, it was mostly useless if its effect on reality, especially on higher dimensional immortals was almost next to useless unless it began to tap from its essence, but that would break the balance in its perfection, and the Eye would no longer be invincible.

In the position that the Eye found itself, it was better that it should be a force for influence and not direct offense, but he could understand that the allure of Primordial Essence had made the Eye disregard any notion of common sense and in-depth planning.

His actions of stealing Gothra’Inul from the Eye of Time had greatly weakened this new Eye. If it had access to the titan, then it would be able to use it as a shell and pull off impressive measures against Thenos, but now it could simply be regarded as a block of invincible metal that could only spout nonsense.

If any immortal here were lower than the fifth dimension, even the sixth, then the presence of the Eye of Time would be a terrifying boulder on their consciousness, its words would capture their senses and they would worship this terrifying being even as their souls slowly collapse under the weight of its presence.

It was a shame that the Eye had fallen into a field of battle where no one here was normal. It was not as if the Eye was not powerful, it was just that in the presence of holders of Singularities, its mystique became something lesser.

The pressure that dragged it down to the ground was coming from the World Stele, and the waves of darkness surrounding the Eye were from Thenos. Rowan could not recognize the darkness surrounding the Eye but he could glimpse traces of the force that rid Nemesis of all its energy in a single touch on that wave of darkness that was pressing against the Eye of Time.

What was amazing was that the power that surrounded the Eye of Time was countless times more potent than what had rid Nemesis, an eighth-dimensional creature of all its energy in an instant, and the pressure that had instantly rid Rowan of any method of resistance could only hold down the Eye of Time, and it was essentially untouched.

From the womb, the glowing eyes of Thenos flash repeatedly and the darkness covering the Eye of Time increases, followed by its repeated shrieks of anger. Its body vibrated under the hold of the World Stele, any normal force no matter how potent was supposed to slide off the Eye leaving it untouched, but the World Stele as a Singularity was able to break the laws of reality to the extent that it could even hinder the invincibility of a Primordial. This detail, Rowan thought, was very interesting.

The World Stele was becoming impatient with Rowan’s silence,

"Are you planning to stall? Your Fate has already been decided, you cannot escape from my hold, and in this space of my creation, nothing can save you."

Rowan’s consciousness replied, he could not move his body, but nothing was stopping his consciousness from speaking,

"I would reply, but the spectacle over there is drawing my attention. Just, look at him…" he was referring to Thenos, whose eyes were flashing rapidly, and it was clear that there was already great anger filling the heart of this unborn titan from his inability to fully suppress the Eye of Time, something told Rowan that Thenos was not a being who recognized the meaning of failure, and every word he was going to speak was to mock that observation,

"...Like a retarded fool poking at the scales of a dragon, thinking it’s made of clouds. He’s so cute, but not in a good way, more like a demented pet, the kind that never stays silent and always scratches. Do you think I can pet him? Ah, tell me World Stele, without your assistance, how long can a creature like him survive?"

"Your attempts to sow discord are useless Rowan. In all of Existence, the law that guides it is power, and Thenos is power. What need is there for reason when you can crush everything?"

"I can’t believe I am the one saying this, but power without wisdom would only lead to destruction. You have bet on the wrong horse in this race. Look the other way, allow me to break his growing neck, and I will show you the way to the future, and it is not by riding the coattails of a demented creature. You know deep inside your spirit, Thenos is insane, and he would never make a good master."

"You are not worthy to be my master. Your insistence on saying such things demeans your Singularity."

Rowan chuckled, "If I am to guess, the reason for your decision is power. Yet, I have all of that and more."

"Yes. You are young Rowan, and although your potential is great, and in the endless streams of existence, I doubt I will see your equal, but Thenos is greater!"

Looking at the Eye of Time that had been covered by a stream of darkness that was now so thick it was almost solid, the assault from Thenos was unrelenting, and it had reached such a manic level that the womb nurturing him was beginning to redden with great heat, and if his actions continued, he would destroy his nurturing chamber. Rowan sighed,

"From where I am looking, he is nothing but dumb. Are you sure you will not take my deal?"

"You disappoint me Rowan, I know you are stalling, I am waiting for your move, but if your entire plan was to convince me to give up on my host, then your road ends here, and your Record would have to wait for another Breaker to arise."

Rowan went silent, before he said, "I was not stalling, I was simply saying goodbye."

"Goodbye? To Whom?"

"Someone that did not want to die, so much that he gave himself the moniker of Undying. If I was to be given a choice, I would never choose this path, I want him to understand."

A voice like the whispers of a serpent resounded through the expanse,

"Father… Is it my time? Can I rest? I am tired."

Rowan’s consciousness sounded sorrowful as he replied to the voice, "If only I was able, my child, you would have lived forever. I would have shown you that existence meant more than what you have lived in this place."

"The road was long, but every journey must come to an end. This is mine, and I am grateful for it."
