“…Tell me, Matriarch,” the Emperor of Harmony asked as he pulled out his commpad, pulling up an image. “Did the white tree you mentioned look anything like this?”
He showed her the image of the manifold tree that powered the Kandrian Manifold.
The Boundless Light’s wise eyes lit up with recognition. “…It’s far smaller and immature compared to the specimen I saw, but I’m confident that it is of the same species.”
Emperor Rael’s expression crumpled with horror as he finally pieced together what had happened. He recalled Rui’s testimony when it came to the Mellow Manifold, how the Mellow Manifold had resembled a small planetoid with its own day-light cycles despite only being a small island surrounded by a water body.
He recalled how Rui told him that anybody living in the Mellow Manifold would undoubtedly have come to the conclusion that the Mellow was the whole world, entirely unaware of the rest of the Panama Continent outside of it.
And now, it became painfully clear to the Emperor of Harmony that the same thing had happened to them.
“The Esoterist was right…” his eyes sharpened. “The true world was not spontaneously formed. It has existed for a long time outside of the Panama Manifold.”
Everything finally made sense now.
They had been living in a manifold for who knew how long?
“Damian must have destroyed the manifold tree after breaking through to the Transcendent Realm, but the question is…”
His eyes sharpened.
“Where is he?”
The Emperor of Harmony hadn’t missed the Devil was not on the list of people that the Omni-Martial brought back. It was a question that only Rui had the answer, having remained in the battlefield until the very end.
Emperor Rael highly doubted that he was dead, since he has apparently broke through to the Transcendent Realm, according to the Boundless Light, who was extremely credible in this regard.
BANG
The Emperor of Harmony grew startled as the doors to the medical room blasted open with force.
“Grandma!” Amare’s amber eyes lit up with delight and ecstasy as she spotted Bodhisattva Maitreyi.
The Boundless Light, on the other hand, widened her eyes with shock as she shook where she sat.
Her expression lit up with stunned joy.
The air tingled with emotion as grandaughter and grandmother met each other for the first time in eleven years.
“Amare…?” her elderly voice quivered with emotion.
“Grandma! I woke up!” she lunged for her grandmother, throwing her a powerful hug as she wrapped her arms around her grandmother in a powerful grip, squeezing her with all her strength and heart.
“Ah…” the weary exhaustion in the Boundless Light’s voice disappeared as a soothing tranquility emerged in her voice.
“How long I have waited for this day.”
She wrapped her arms around her precious granddaughter, basking in Amare’s bright warmth.
In an instant, Bodhisattva Maitreyi’s burdens felt light.
As the reuniting with her precious granddaughter was a soothing balm for the soul, relieving of her sorrow and exhaustion.
The past eleven years hadn’t been easy.
Amare played a large life in the Boundless Light’s life and her absence caused a void of darkness that the Bodhisattva Maitreyi found impossible to fill.
The absence of Amare hadn’t just served as a spiritual void, it had also affected Bodhisattva Maitreyi’s Martial progress.
She was unable to pursue Light when the darkness of Amare’s absence and suffering weighed on her each moment.
To her, her granddaughter was her light.
Her hug tightened as she basked in Amare’s warmth.
“It couldn’t have been easy.”
Bodhisattva Maitreyi’s voice was warm and gentle.
“All those years trapped within your mind.”
Bodhisattva Maitreyi’s voice was one of deep sorrow and affection.
She had gotten all the details of Amare’s condition from Rui long ago, having been entirely aware of all the suffering that Amare had gone through.
And yet, she couldn’t help but beam with pride at the thought that her precious granddaughter had become a Bodhisattva.
“It wasn’t easy.”
Amare’s tone was melancholic.
“But…” Something deep in her voice changed. “…I gained the power I sought.”
A pang of doubt and uncertainty emerged within the Boundless Light she detected within Amare that she didn’t recognize.
A ferocious lust for power.
“All the lives I spent traveling this continent.”
Her voice was calm.
Yet intense.
“All the millenia I spent trapped within my mind, reliving all my lives over and over.”
Bodhisattva Maitreyi’s eyes widened. “Amare…?”
“I suffered because I was weak.”
Her tone was unyielding.
“I was separated from the people I love because I was weak.”
Bodhisattva Maitreyi’s expression grew increasingly alarmed with each moment.
The warm brightness within Amare’s eyes were replaced with a steely determination.
An intense desire for power.
Her expression had changed.
Her body language had changed.
Almost as if she had become an entirely different person.
An entirely different person that Bodhisattva Maitreyi recognized.
It was a faint memory from more than six hundred years ago, when Maitreyi herself was a yound child.
An ancient memory of the Progenitor.
“Esil…!” Bodhisattva Maitreyi gasped.
The Progenitor had bloomed within Amare.
“Never again will you have to suffer because of me, grandma,” the warm brightness of Amare returned to her eyes.
And yet, all the affection and ecstasy in Bodhisattva Maitreyi’s had vanished as she gazed as her granddaughter with a stunned expression.
The air grew heavy with tension.
The mood darkened as the Emperor of Harmony heaved a sigh, turning towards the medical team with a soft-toned instruction.
“Give them some privacy.”
“Yes, Your Majesty.”
They followed the Emperor of Harmony out of the medical facility quietly, leaving grandmother and granddaughter to resolve their issues.
One of the reasons that Emperor Rael didn’t immesiately inform her of Amare’s Awakening was precisely due to the fact that she would want to see Amare immediately, and was bound to immediately detected the changes that Amare underwent, after which she would be too preoccupied to emotionally to give the Emperor of Harmony the dedicated report he needed.
“Prepare an intelligence report detailing everything that the Boundless Light has described,” the Emperor of Harmony informed his secretary with severe tone. “The world must understand the true nature of what has unfolded.”
