Myth Beyond Heaven

Chapter 2761 - 2761: Eternal War (3)

Yun Lintian became a storm of destruction.

The White Dragon Spear danced in his hands, each thrust precise and lethal. With the battlefield balanced and his energy constantly replenished, he moved like death incarnate. Warriors fell by the hundreds, their life essence fueling his relentless assault.

Linlin’s lightning carved paths through the enemy ranks, while Qingqing’s wind blades severed limbs and shattered weapons. The once-invincible army now crumbled before them.

Zhan Tian watched from his throne, the iron creaking under his tightening grip. His pupil-less eyes tracked every movement, every calculated kill.

“Interesting,” he rumbled. The word carried across the battlefield like distant thunder.

Yun Lintian didn’t pause. A spear-wielding general lunged at him—only to find his weapon intercepted by the White Dragon Spear’s shaft. With a twist, Yun Lintian disarmed him, then drove his palm into the man’s chest. The general’s life force surged into Yun Lintian before his body even hit the ground.

“Too slow,” Yun Lintian muttered, already moving to the next target.

The remaining warriors formed a desperate circle around him, their earlier coordination shattered. They attacked in ragged waves now, their movements sluggish compared to Yun Lintian’s enhanced reflexes.

A swordsman came from the left—decapitated mid-swing.

An axe descended from above—its wielder impaled before the blow could land.

Arrows rained down—only to disintegrate against Black Turtle defenses.

Yun Lintian was no longer fighting for survival. He was harvesting.

Thud!

The last warrior fell with a choked gasp, his essence draining into Yun Lintian through emerald tendrils. Silence descended upon the Eternal Battlefield.

The War God stood, his greatsword scraping against stone as he dragged it from the throne.

“Your strength exceeds my expectations,” he admitted, stepping down onto the bloodied plain. “No wonder Hei Xuan, Ping Heng, and Qing Yun accepted you so readily.”

Linlin panted on Yun Lintian’s shoulder. “Does that mean we win?”

Zhan Tian’s lipless grin widened. “It means the warm-up is over.”

He raised his free hand—and the battlefield shifted again.

A single figure materialized before them. Tall, clad in obsidian armor, with a greatsword identical to Zhan Tian’s resting across his shoulders. His aura radiated the crushing pressure of the peak True God Realm.

Zhan Tian’s voice rumbled across the battlefield.

“This is my weakest champion.”

The armored warrior lifted his greatsword, its edge gleaming with a dull, hungry light.

“Don’t hold back,” Zhan Tian warned. “He won’t.”

Yun Lintian tightened his grip on the White Dragon Spear. The air itself seemed to thicken around the champion, pressing down with invisible weight.

“Linlin, Qingqing—fall back.”

The two spirits hesitated but obeyed, retreating to the edge of the battlefield.

The champion moved.

No warning. No flourish. Just a single step—and then he was there, greatsword carving through space itself.

BOOM!

Yun Lintian barely raised his spear in time. The impact sent shockwaves rippling outward, cracking the stone beneath his feet. His arms trembled from the force.

Peak True God Realm?

This was no ordinary peak True God. The sheer pressure behind that strike rivaled the Primordial Gods themselves.

The champion didn’t pause. His blade came again—horizontal this time, aiming to cleave Yun Lintian in half.

Azure Dragon scales flared as Yun Lintian twisted away, but the sword’s edge still grazed his ribs. Blood sprayed.

“Fast,” Yun Lintian hissed.

The champion didn’t respond. His next attack came instantly—a downward chop that split the earth where Yun Lintian had stood moments before.

Yun Lintian stopped holding back. All eight bloodlines ignited at once.

Azure Dragon scales armored his skin. White Tiger lightning coiled around his limbs and his hair turned white. Divine Phoenix wings burst from his back. Golden Crow flames wreathed his spear. Vermilion Bird runes glowed across his body.

Black Turtle shields materialized in the air. Ice Phoenix frost spread beneath his feet. Golden Qilin horns crowned his brow.

The champion paused—then attacked with renewed ferocity.

Their battle became a blur.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!!

Spear met sword in explosions of force. Each clash sent shockwaves rippling across the battlefield. Yun Lintian’s enhanced reflexes barely kept pace with the champion’s relentless assault.

A feint. A thrust. The White Dragon Spear grazed the champion’s shoulder—only for the armored warrior to retaliate with a pommel strike that cracked Yun Lintian’s jaw.

Blood filled his mouth. He spat it out and counterattacked.

Yun Lintian realized something mid-battle—the champion wasn’t just strong. He was perfect.

Every movement was optimized. Every strike carried exactly the necessary force. No wasted energy. No openings.

It was like fighting war itself.

So Yun Lintian changed tactics.

Instead of trying to overpower the champion, he began learning.

He matched his breathing to the champion’s rhythm. Adjusted his footwork to mirror the warrior’s impeccable stance. Even his spear strokes began adopting the same lethal efficiency.

Zhan Tian’s throne creaked as he leaned forward.

The champion noticed too. His attacks grew sharper, faster—but Yun Lintian adapted in real time.

Then came the opening.

A slight overextension in the champion’s downward slash. Barely noticeable. But for someone operating at this level, it was enough.

Yun Lintian struck.

The White Dragon Spear lanced forward—not at the champion’s body, but at his sword. The tip struck the flat of the greatsword at precisely the right angle.

CLANG!

The champion’s blade veered off-course. For the first time, his balance faltered.

Yun Lintian didn’t hesitate.

His free hand shot forward, emerald tendrils erupting from his palm. They latched onto the champion’s chest plate—not to drain, but to push.

The Breath of the World Tree reversed.

A surge of corrupted life energy flooded into the champion. Vines burst from his armor’s seams, flowering grotesquely between the plates.

The champion staggered back—

—and froze.

Silence.

Then, slowly, he lowered his sword and nodded.

“Hahaha!”

The War God’s laughter shook the battlefield.

“Well fought,” he rumbled. “To think you’d defeat him by learning rather than overpowering.”

Yun Lintian panted, his bloodline transformations receding. “He’s… not really peak True God Realm, is he?”

Zhan Tian grinned. “Oh, he is. But that form is merely a shell to contain his true combat prowess.”

Linlin bounded over. “Then what is he?”

“A fragment,” Zhan Tian said. “A sliver of my own battle instincts given form.” He eyed Yun Lintian. “And you just defeated it.”

The implications sank in.

Yun Lintian had just outmaneuvered a piece of the War God himself.

“However, this is not the end,” Zhan Tian spoke further. “Let’s meet your next opponent.”
