Chapter 2696: Linlin’s Wrath
The sky erupted with blinding flashes of lightning, the thunder echoing across the city, shaking the very foundations of the earth.
BOOOM! BOOOOM! BOOOOOM!!
The thunderbolts rained down upon the Liang Clan manor, striking with devastating force. Buildings crumbled, flames erupted, and the screams of the dying filled the air. The Liang Clan, their lives extinguished in an instant, were wiped from existence.
Linlin’s wrath was absolute, her power unstoppable. The entire Liang Clan manor was reduced to rubble, a smoldering ruin. Not a single member of the clan survived her divine retribution.
The commotion caused by Linlin’s display of power immediately attracted the attention of every force in Sunlight City. Cultivators, merchants, and ordinary citizens alike gazed up at the sky, their eyes wide with awe and fear. They had witnessed the wrath of a White Tiger God, a force of nature unleashed.
“The White Tiger God!” a cultivator from the nearby Sun Clan exclaimed, his voice trembling. “The Bai Clan’s guardian has returned!”
“Revenge!” another clan elder whispered, his eyes wide with fear. “It has come for revenge!”
The various clans within the city, some who had profited from the Bai Clan’s downfall, others who had stood idly by, now felt the chilling grip of fear. They knew that the White Tiger God’s return signaled a reckoning, a cleansing of the sins of the past.
Outside the Liang Clan manor, Meng Rouyan, her elegant robes fluttering in the wind, stood with her bodyguard, their eyes fixed on the spectacle of destruction.
“What… what is happening?” Meng Rouyan stammered, her voice barely audible.
Her bodyguard, his face pale, grabbed her arm. “Young Miss, we must retreat! This is not a force we can withstand!”
Before Meng Rouyan could protest, he whisked her away, retreating to a safer distance. They watched as the Liang Clan manor was obliterated, the sky ablaze with divine lightning.
Meng Rouyan’s mind reeled. She had heard the rumors, the whispers of the White Tiger God’s return, but she had never imagined witnessing such power. She had also misunderstood Linlin as the White Tiger God of the Bai Clan.
“The White Tiger God… she has truly returned,” she murmured, her voice filled with awe and dread.
Suddenly, a voice transmission echoed in her mind, urgent and commanding. “Rouyan! Return to the clan immediately! Do not linger!”
It was her father, Meng Huai, his voice laced with urgency. He had sensed the disturbance, the overwhelming power that had descended upon the city. He knew that the Meng Clan, with their history with the Bai Clan, was now in a precarious position.
“Father…” Meng Rouyan responded, her voice trembling.
“Just return!” Meng Huai’s voice was firm. “We will discuss this later. Now, go!”
Her bodyguard, sensing the urgency in her father’s voice, pulled her away, their figures disappearing into the shadows of the surrounding hills.
As they retreated, Meng Rouyan’s mind raced. She thought of Yun Lintian, the mysterious traveler who had shown interest in the White Tiger. Could he be connected to this? Could he be the one who had brought the White Tiger God back?
The Liang Clan head, his body trembling, his eyes wide with a vacant horror, stood amidst the devastation. He had witnessed the annihilation of his clan, the slaughter of his family, his descendants, his entire legacy reduced to ash.
His mind, reeling from the shock, struggled to comprehend the reality of his loss. He had seen his children, his grandchildren, his wives, his friends, all reduced to charred corpses, their screams still echoing in his ears.
A wave of raw, unbridled rage surged through him, eclipsing his fear, his despair. He turned his gaze towards Yun Lintian, his eyes burning with a hatred so intense it seemed to consume him.
“You… you monster!” he roared, his voice hoarse and broken, his words laced with venom. “You have destroyed everything I had! You have taken everything from me!”
Yun Lintian, holding the White Tiger cub, regarded the man with a cold, detached expression. “Monster? I merely returned the favor. You made the Bai Clan feel the same way, didn’t you?”
The Liang Clan head trembled and couldn’t utter a word. The scene of the Bai Clan’s downfall flashed across his mind. The flames, the screams, the chaos. He remembered the satisfaction he had felt, the sense of power, the thrill of victory.
He didn’t expect a retribution to come this fast…
Puff!
The Liang Clan head coughed up blood and his eyes rolled up, losing his consciousness.
Yun Lintian looked at him and invaded his mind, delving into his memories, searching for the names of his accomplices, the collaborators who had aided him in the Bai Clan’s downfall.
“The Meng Clan?” Yun Lintian muttered to himself. It turned out that the Meng Clan was blocked by the other clans, and they had no choice but to stand still, watching the Bai Clan fall.
What surprised Yun Lintian was that the Meng Clan actually took some benefits from the Bai Clan’s downfall afterwards. How laughable.
Linlin transformed back into her miniature form and hopped onto Yun Lintian’s shoulder, looking down at the White Tiger cub in his arms.
“What’s your name?” Linlin asked.
“Rawr.” The White Tiger cub responded.
“Bai Xi?” Linlin repeated the name. “Do you know where your mother is?”
The White Tiger cub tilted her head slightly, clearly having no idea about it.
“Let’s leave first. I think her mother should be somewhere around here.” Yun Lintian said gently and took a step forward, disappearing from the place.
As Yun Lintian left, many cultivators approached the ruined Liang Clan manor cautiously, looking for treasures. Among them were the clan elders from the other major clans.
“What do you think?” Elder Feng said in a deep voice.
“It’s the White Tiger without a doubt,” Elder Jin said. “But the power seems to be stronger. How is it possible?”
The two exchanged confused glances. The White Tiger was clearly injured by them in the previous battle. It was impossible for it to become stronger in a short time. There must be something behind this.
“Someone saw Meng Huai’s daughter here earlier.” Elder Qin spoke up. “Maybe she knows something.”
The other two elders were surprised slightly. They exchanged tacit glances and dispersed, heading to the Meng Clan.
***
Yun Lintian landed in the forest outside the city, the place where the White Tiger was rumored to appear. He planned to look for the White Tiger first before dealing with the Bai Clan’s enemies.
“My daughter!”
