Chapter 4344 The Gate
BAMMM BAMMM!
My shield defended against the attacks of the Grimm, coming from the front and above.
They moved fast and came from me from different sides, but despite that, my shields defended against their attacks.
It made Kanxin somewhat relieved. I wish I could tell her these are not the threat. Only the other two are, and I really wish we did not have to fight them.
"These shields. They are not easy," said Crockman, looking at the shields intently.
"Then we will use our full power and crush these shields," replied Rhinoman, and the moment it burst out, it burst out with its full power.
I could see the lines of ancestral power deepening across its body and feel the power, that raised all the hair on my body.
'Will you be able to defend?' asked Kanxin with deep worry in voice. 'Yes!' I replied.
Defending against them wouldn't be a problem. The problem would be against Foxman dealing with birds. It is the most dangerous one.
The two Grimms moved, and they were fast. It's clear that they wanted to avoid the shield and come at me directly, but as they did, my shields moved.
They appeared in front of them, leaving them no choice other than to attack.
They stopped before trying to circumvent it, but the shield moved as if reading their movement, appearing in front of them once more.
It is a second after that, and things have become strange for them.
When they tried to circumvent the shield, the shield moved, stopping them from doing that. They tried repeatedly and even started using different methods, but the shields stopped them every time.
Even Kanxin looked at me strangely as we moved as fast as we could toward the destination,
"Bastard!" crockman cursed madly in frustration and attacked hard, but the shield took the blow and once more stopped them.
My strings are amazing, and they could do many things. Defend, bind, move at the speed faster, and I can.
Even they have a limit, these two are not powerful enough to cross that limit. That doesn't mean they are not dangerous.
They are extremely dangerous. The only reason I am without broken bones and blood coming out of me is because I am defending.
If I had been fighting, I would have been bloody already. I would have done that, dispite the risks. If the monster and the Foxman weren't present.
It would have eliminated the risks of the other Grimms tracking us.
Now, I am not even thinking about that problem. The only thing I am thinking of is surviving.
BAMMM BAMMM!
They cursed, but their attacks didn't stop. It kept coming without stopping. They do not even look at the Foxman and monster as if they are sure they will be fine.
Indeed, they will be.
The Foxman is stronger than I had realized. It is not as strong as the bird, but it is strong enough to defend against its attack.
Though, I could see. It is also very cautious against the bird. Defending and dodging all the attacks. Never letting one touch its body.
It understands the consequences of that very well.
I want to believe it will stay busy with the monster, but I am preparing for everything. I have to survive, and I am not alone.
There is a Kanxin as well. I needed to guarantee her safety as much as I could.
Minutes passed, and then another and another. We have crossed more than half of the distance to our destination. Now, in two more minutes, we will reach it.
These two seemed to understand that as well. We didn't run as we should when in danger like this.
We moved as we had a destination. It might not be formation, but it should be safety. The Grimms want that thing, too, but they believe it is a formation.
Seeing how greed and excitement are flashing in their eyes.
This is why a change occurred in their intent to kill. They still want to kill us and acting they do, but they are not.
That doesn't mean I will let them get closer to me, which they want more than before because they got us. They could torture the location of the formation from us.
Soon, another minute passed, and we are now extremely close. In fifty seconds and so, we will reach our destination.
'Be ready to use the key when we arrive,' I said to Kanxin. I didn't have to say it; I know she will, but saying it made me feel more reassured.
'Don't worry, I am ready,' she replied.
I didn't say anything further and defended against the attacks from Grimms. Stopping them from coming closer to us.
Seconds, and now we are only three seconds away from our destination.
One, two, and three!
As we did, a pentagonal cyan crystal appeared in her hand. She activated it. I felt the spatial energy, and so did the Grimms.
"The gate is appearing!" Foxman shouted and came toward us with its highest speed while defending against the attacks of the monster.
It had maintained a few seconds of distance between us, not for our safety but for the safety of its minions.
As the key was activated, the motes of lights appeared and formed a gate shape, which turned into a stone gate. Its big enough that even Grimms could pass through it.
It was just ten meters ahead of us, and we moved toward it.
"Stop them!" the Foxman roared and, a moment later, attacked. Sending long spear toward us. At the same time, the two Grimms moved.
The Crockman came at us while Rhinoman, who was in front of us, moved toward the gate.
It didn't turn to stop us. No, it is moving toward the gate. Forgetting everything else. I could see it made both of the Grimms angry.
It is the Grimm at its finest.
'It will reach the gate before us!' said Kanxin in alarm. 'It will not!' I said and pulled the strings.
Of course, I had used the binds. With the two visible and one safe invisible shield, the bindings aren't as powerful as they could be, but it is more than enough for this job.
It is very risky to use the strings, but I needed a way to kill them. The bindings are the only ones that give me a guarantee to make it happen.
It is quite unfortunate that I could only bind one Grimm. I would have liked to bind at least two of them. If things turned really bad, I would have only one enemy to deal with.
It slowed down as I pulled the strings.
An alarm appeared in its eyes, and surprise appeared on the Grimms' faces. Nobody understood what had happened, but they looked at us.
Puch!
We reached the Grimms, and my sword pierced through its heart through it back.
It tried to defend, but it was too slow.
I pulled it into my core while moving toward the gate, looking back at the spear reaching us.
BAMMMM!
It crashed against the defense of three shields. Giving me such a blow that blood came out of it.
Most importantly, it gave me momentum, which I used to push ourselves at even greater speed—reaching the gate in an instant before stepping inside.
