MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith
Chapter 1454 - 1454: Myriad Prodigies: Fallen Scarlet Sanctum“The Fallen Scarlet Sanctum…?”
Hearing the name of the organization Valyr mentioned, Lunarossa briefly furrowed her brows before closing her eyes.
Then, looking back at the young man with a hint of suspicion, she faintly shook her head.
“As someone from the Meltierre Empire, I consider myself to be quite knowledgeable in regards to the organizations through Veldanyr,” she said. “Even organizations that only exist within the other races are within my scope of knowledge.”
“Yet the Fallen Scarlet Sanctum… pardon my rudeness, but are you not just coming up with an imaginary enemy on the spot?”
Feeling a wave of confusion hit him the moment he heard the director’s response, a wry smile soon appeared on Valyr’s face as he understood why she told him those words.
As someone who played Greater Beyond until the very end, it went without saying that the mystery of who instigated the War of the Three Sovereignties back in Veldanyr had long been laid bare to the players by the time their sights were set on the game’s universe.
Because of that, on a random day where he wanted to pass some time in the game, the young man decided to read more about it in one of the planet’s Myriad Archives, allowing him to figure out that the instigator of the entire war was none other than the organization he just told Lunarossa.
Whether it was the human race, the elf race, or the orc race, the Fallen Scarlet Sanctum had a hand in sowing and breeding chaos amongst the three races, with the organization targeting beings that had high reputation within their respective race.
Of course, although he knew that this organization was the cause behind the war, Valyr did not do anything to stop the war from happening.
For one, if he were to stop the war, there was still the possibility of a different war taking its place, which would pretty much render his memories of the war useless.
Aside from that, he had no clue where to start looking for traces of the Fallen Scarlet Sanctum.
According to the books he read on the matter, by the time the war was over, the Fallen Scarlet Sanctum had already been annihilated under the cooperation of the three races.
With that being said, any information on the organization’s whereabouts before their demise wasn’t written whatsoever, which Valyr did not really think of much.
However, now that he thought about the matter once more, he soon concluded that it was probably due to the possibility of the Fallen Scarlet Sanctum rising up once again.
Lastly, although the Fallen Scarlet Sanctum was the one behind the chaos that sparked the War of the Three Sovereignties, the actual cause of the war was still on the individuals the organization had controlled.
And just like the organization’s whereabouts, any information on the individuals under the organization had been omitted on the books, possibly due to the same reason as the omission of the organization’s previous location.
Though, after thinking about it for a bit more, the reason for the omission of the individuals was likely more due to the reputation of the individuals than the possibility of the organization’s revival.
Continuing to remain silent as Lunarossa’s question echoed in his mind, the young man eventually recalled the other bits of information he obtained from reading those books on the Fallen Scarlet Sanctum.
‘I wonder why they decided to change the name of their organization later on?’ As this thought popped up in his mind, Valyr took in a deep breath before giving the director a slightly apologetic smile.
“My apologies,” said the young man. “I must be confusing the organization I had in mind for something else.”
He then continued, “Although the Fallen Scarlet Sanctum isn’t an organization you recognize, what if I asked you…”
“…About the Crimson Cathedral instead?”
Whoosh!
At the very moment Valyr was finished with his words, a stifling aura immediately surrounded both him and Ataraxia, causing them to feel as if they were plunged into the deepest depths of hell.
Trying his hardest to have both identities resist the pressure as much as possible, the young man was eventually able to shift his gaze towards Lunarossa, who was glaring at him as if he were a dead man walking.
“Who… told you that?” she asked, mounting more pressure on the two by the second. “Someone with your status shouldn’t know of such an organization.”
“Someone of my status…?” murmured Valyr in response, slightly confused.
Then, realizing what she meant by that, he let out a slight chuckle as he told her, “If that’s your problem, then there’s nothing to worry about.”
Swoosh!
Disabling [Thousand Polymorph] without hesitation, the young man’s appearance gradually returned to the Valyr Zeihardt he’d come to embrace ever since he was brought to the world of Greater Beyond.
Naturally, his sudden change in appearance caught the director off guard, leaving Lunarossa at a loss for words as she stared at him with her mouth agape.
Fortunately, after some time, she dispelled the aura she had released, giving the two an apologetic look afterwards.
“The Herald…” said Lunarossa, taking a while to regain her bearings. “You… are Valyr?”
Valyr nodded in response.
“To think that would be the case.” The woman let out a wry chuckle. “If it’s you… then it makes sense why you know of the Crimson Cathedral.”
Just like how the Fallen Scarlet Sanctum’s name implied that the organization was of a religious nature, the Crimson Cathedral was a religious organization only known to those with high enough status.
Though there were many reasons why this piece of information was kept under wraps, the main reason was that the Crimson Cathedral was known for committing countless atrocities for the sake of their religion.
Even if one of these atrocities were to leak and spread throughout the masses, those people were certain that everyone on Veldanyr would live every moment of their waking hour with fear in their hearts.
“…Do you mind if I ask you to leave the room for a moment?” After silence continued to ensue between the three of them, Lunarossa eventually made this request to Ataraxia, continuing to give him a slightly apologetic gaze.
Although he and Valyr were the one and the same, since he wanted to keep up the facade that the two were different people, Ataraxia went ahead and agreed, leaving the room not long after.
“…I would like to apologize to you once more, Herald.” Once she made sure that Ataraxia had truly left the room, Lunarossa immediately gave Valyr a look of apology. “If I knew I was talking to you, I wouldn’t have shown you such a reaction.”
“No need to mull over it,” said Valyr in response, only to then give her a look of curiosity. “However, why did you ask Ataraxia to leave the room? Is it because the Crimson Cathedral is something he shouldn’t know?”
“For now.” Lunarossa nodded. “Though, he’ll probably learn of its existence at some point. After all, he’s now part of the Meltierre Imperial Guards.”
“However, that’s not the reason why I had him leave,” she continued, causing Valyr to look back at her with even further curiosity.
Though, once he heard the next words that left her mouth, the young man’s expression immediately turned grim.
“What if I told you…”
“The Crimson Cathedral is targeting you?”
