Chapter 1150: 1150 Witch Healing
Mary and Stephanie came in while the Ciel were admiring their new outfits, drawn by the portal magic that Wolfe had been using.
The two curious witches simply couldn’t resist knowing what was going on, especially when it was only a few doors away.
“Who did you find now?” Mary asked as she entered the room.
“It’s another Witch. There really are more of them in this world.” The Ciel cheered.
“Half of this continent’s population, and a quarter of the world in total, are Witches. I take it that we’re rare where you come from?” Mary asked.
The Ciel nodded in their weird unison.
“Yes, very much so. In fact, they are rare and valued in every world we have visited. It is a good thing that you had a King or Queen here to shield your world, or someone might have tried to invade it already.”
Mary giggled. “We had far more than one King present for that. We got multiples from both the Demons and Fae to assist, along with a Saint Rank Magi, and a Seraphim that was beyond the King Rank.”
The Ciel froze as if someone had paused a video.
“You had contact with a being greater than the King Rank? One from the Highest Planes?”
Mary nodded, and Priya confirmed her assessment.
“They seem more impressed with us than with you.” Mary joked.
“They don’t believe that I’m a Magi. I’m not certain what they have decided that I am, but they’re pretty sure that Magi are a myth.” Wolfe replied with a shrug.
“We might be willing to consider that there might be one here. That magic is like nothing we have ever seen. And the pockets. The pockets are astonishing.”
Mary stared at Wolfe, who laughed and made another copy of the amulet for her.
“Oh, these are great pockets. It’s just a shame that they’re only active when the outfit is, not as good as the permanent pocket items.” The little witch agreed before zoning in on the feathered wings of the Ciel.
“How did you get so many powerful Witches? The cat is a Witch as well, right? Her magic feels like a Witch’s.” The first arrival asked.
“It’s a power-sharing ritual. A Magi King takes twenty-five advisors, and the power of the bond brings them all to the Saint Rank within only a few years. So, even without a bodyguard, I have a lot of powerful people around me.” Wolfe explained.
The Ciel pouted with envy, and Wolfe could see Mary visibly restraining her urge to go hug the fluffy winged creatures.
After a few seconds, one of them got an excited expression.
“If you have powerful Witches, can you cure the insanity? There might be other survivors who are tempted to return and look for us. If you can cure the humans’ insanity, they might have a chance.” She suggested.
“Something infected their people?” Mary asked.
Priya nodded. “The usual. Xenophobia. But I suppose that we can bury a cleansing spell in the city and let it expand with time. That would slowly cure them if they are actually insane and not just evil.”
“We could spread it at much lower power across a whole planet. It wouldn’t last long, but if there was some mass psychosis affecting them, it should break and return some semblance of sanity to them.
The remaking of this world seemed to do it, but I am certain that we can get just that effect to get cause them to cease their violence.” Wolfe offered.
A mild version of the [Kind Intentions] spell along with [Cleanse] cast by the Witches should do the job.
Spread over the whole planet, it would barely be noticeable, but the effect would be strong enough to stop unprovoked fights, and curb most murderous sentiment, unless it was strongly warranted.
It wouldn’t stop a world full of zealots, but the Witches’ cleansing spell would help cure any mental illness or brainwashing that was also affecting them, and finish the job.
That seemed like just enough power to help their new friends without making a huge mess on another planet that would draw attention to them here.
Wolfe didn’t think that any higher plane beings were paying attention to that world, but it was generally better not to offend entire planets when you could avoid it.
Wolfe opened a number of small portals near where he had recovered the survivors from, and began to prepare a spell array.
“We have enough powerful witches here for the purpose. I’m going to make it subtle and slow acting, so they don’t get suspicious. Hopefully, it doesn’t cause them to get the wrong ideas, but it should cure their madness.” He explained.
The witches were dubious about this prospect, but Wolfe was already preparing Kind Intentions with runes in the array for maximum dispersion.
So, they did their part and added the Cleansing spell, tuned for mental illness, madness and violent tendencies to the array and let Wolfe continue.
“Won’t they just find it and destroy the spell before it takes effect? They were very good at hunting us by our magic.” One of the Ciel whispered.
“They shouldn’t be able to locate and destroy this one. I have some experience with human anti-magic techniques.”
Really, her reminder had just convinced Wolfe to set the spells a few kilometres underground, near the bottom of the planet’s crust, where it would be very little to no chance that they would even be able to locate it, much less destroy it.
Deep underground was a blind spot for most technologies, as the heat and pressure made it nearly impossible for conventional metal alloys to enter.
As the witches finished adding cleansing to the array and Wolfe spread the starting locations all over the planet, Priya’s eyes bulged with shock.
“They really are insane. They were cursed. I can feel the magic taking effect to cleanse the curse of madness from them. They didn’t just randomly start attacking the Ciel, they were forced.” She whispered.
That was good enough for Wolfe. He modified the spell a little to increase the effect from the bare minimum to near peak Rank One, where it should wear away at the effects much more rapidly, even if there were some outside influence helping keep the dark magic active.
