Chapter 1099: 1099 Even Them
With the One World Government now in agreement, Wolfe turned his attention to the smaller nations of his continent, starting on the West Coast with Ingny, a tiny coastal nation made up of hippies.
Traditionalist Witches and allies, they would call themselves, but their entire nation was one big communal farm operating on primitive hand tools when the guardians arrived and helped them modernize just enough that they wouldn’t be embarrassed to tell people what territory they picked.
Now the two guardians worked as a team and part of the management council that kept things running.
Their only known export was narcotics into the Free Covens, and they weren’t known to import anything, or even willingly interact with outsiders, so Wolfe was cure that it would be a bit of a shock that they were invited.
The Guardians had received personal invitations, but Wolfe opened a portal to the building where he could sense both of them sitting in offices, and sent the letter through.
“Guardians? Team Leaders? We have mail, I think.” A boy’s voice called.
A Faerie flitted to the portal and waved at Wolfe before grabbing the letter.
“This must be the formal invitation for the team leaders. Yes, that’s what it says. Leaders of Ingny. See, I knew that they wouldn’t leave the humans out when they made the invitations.” She announced.
The others gathered around her, and gently took the letter down to read the contents.
“They will provide transportation? Do you think that we could bring a shipment with us? The Free Covens have cut back on their imports lately, thanks to all the new Fae drugs.”
A deep demonic chuckle cut the man off.
“Forest Grove is as far from short on illicit substances as it is possible to be. Their market even sells hangover medication to help with exhaustion and prevent addictions from forming. No, if we want to bring them something to make money, we would do better with handcrafted goods.
They have plenty of magic to make what they need, but handcrafts are artwork. If we bring them things like our beaded mukluks and tie-dyed shirts, we will likely do fairly well with a stall. I know how you all feel about money, but we can trade for goods and advanced magics before we come back, so it’s not a problem.” He explained.
The Faerie stuck her head through the small portal that Wolfe had left to listen to the response.
“Is that true? Do they like arts and crafts?” She demanded, before waving to everyone in the room.
“It is true. Especially when they’re both functional and unique. Do you remember the day that the two princesses wore the same dress to school?” Wolfe asked, referring to a story that the local Faeries told in Forest Grove.
“Ooh, so it’s like that. Okay, I will talk to them.”
Then she waved goodbye and Wolfe closed the listening portal.
“Thottiervil has no rulers at the moment, they put the Guardians in charge of everything as Nobles, so they’re taken care of. So that brings us to Coinia.” Nimue noted, looking at the stack of letters.
Their capital was Lakeville, along the northern border of the free covens. The nation was a Coven, so Wolfe looked for the Coven Leader’s office in the Capital, and sent the letter through to the receptionist.
“Coven Leader, the Council’s formal invitation has arrived, just as the Guardians expected.” The receptionist spoke in an even voice, most likely through the speakerphone.
“Thank the messenger and inform them that we will arrange our own transport.” A crackly voice replied.
Wolfe raised his voice a bit so he would be heard.
“Understood, thank you, Coven Leader. We will be eagerly awaiting your presence.”
The Grand Coven of Chueles, which was not nearly as grand as the name implied, went the same way, except they would message through the Guardians to arrange transport.
That brought Wolfe to the Gondian Empire, a human nation who had recently begun doing regular business with Forest Grove, and was working on adopting the continental currency, as they were calling the Forest Grove cards and coins.
That one was easy, and he left the letter with their receptionist, who informed him that they were in a meeting about the number of attendees to RSVP with.
The first actual shock of the day was when Wolfe moved to the nation to their northeast, bordering both the Gondian Empire and Hiziros.
The map said it was called the Patriarchate of Corgosia, and it was mostly human, with a very small number of witches, who served as the nation’s Noble and Royal Families.
When he opened the portal to their ruling palace, the first thing that he noticed was that they were not in a meeting as he had expected, given that the Guardians had received their invitations already, but instead they were having a family brunch.
But the second thing he noticed was much more interesting. Their oldest two children were fraternal twins, and while the daughter was a Rank Two Witch, the son had awakened as a Rank One Magi.
That meant the Patriarchate of Corgosia was an actual Magi Clan territory, though the current Patriarch and the ones who had come before him hadn’t had enough of the bloodline to use magic.
Wolfe opened the Portal a bit wider than usual and handed the invitation to the butler standing at the entrance to the kitchen.
“My apologies for intruding, I thought this was your office. Congratulations, Patriarch, on the awakening of the next generation of your Family.” Wolfe began, intending to leave after saying his bit.
“Wait, did you say that the next generation has awakened?” He asked.
“Yes, your son has a Mana Core. Not much of one yet, but that will improve with time and teaching if you have knowledge left. If not, I have gathered some in Forest Grove, and you can send him to me. Do you know what clan your family was originally from? If you do, I might be able to find more personal information on your ancestors.”
From the Noxus Family Library, which had a stupendous amount of information.
The old man hugged his son, who looked shocked, and then bowed to Wolfe.
“We will be at your Coronation Ceremony, King Noxus. Thank you for your concern, and the good news.”
