Chapter 1055: 1055 The Talk

Wolfe followed the two Witches back to their room and silently closed the door, while they flopped on the bed with matching happy expressions.

Ella’s smile turned to a smirk as she began to speak. “I bet you’re wondering why the contraceptive spell didn’t work.”

Wolfe nodded. “Not that I’m not incredibly happy, but it was unexpected.”

Ella nodded and continued. “The spell prevents pregnancy by flooding the sperm with mana, which overwhelms the egg and prevents fertilization. But do you know what a high-ranking Witch’s body can handle a lot of?

Mana.

So, the spell most likely stopped working ages ago, and we didn’t do any research on it until we advanced this morning and had a good reason to.”

Cassie giggled. “So basically, we’ve been playing the raw dog roulette for months, and a week ago we got the prize. Both of us did on the same day, we can tell that much as Witch Saints.”

“So, none of us noticed that the spell had stopped working, and we just ended up with a mana infused super baby. Well, two mana infused super babies?” Wolfe replied slowly.

Cassie nodded. “We can’t tell the potential yet, but from what we can estimate by the genes, the Magi side is purely dominant, and they have taken on the male traits far sooner than they should have during a normal pregnancy.

That suggests that they should be powerful Magi, but none of us have any experience guessing the potential of a Magi child.

We’re going to ask some of the older Fae and Demons later, as they might know a way to tell, but we wanted to make the announcement so that nobody spoiled our surprise.”

Wolfe pulled them into his embrace and lay back on the bed to stare up at the ceiling and take in everything that had happened in the last day.

Ella climbed over him to rest on his far side. “You know, we’re going to do something about the names’ thing. We can’t all be Saint Noxus, that’s just confusing. Lady Cassie and Lady Ella worked well enough, but using Saint seems to be the preferred formal address.”

Cassie sighed as she crawled under the blankets next to them. “You know, the next thing that he’s going to suggest is that we all travel together so we can watch people panic at what to call us all, since we’re all Saint Noxus, right?”

“Why don’t we just wait and see what the Demons come up with? They’re bound to have come across this issue before, so they should have some sort of answer for us.” Wolfe suggested.

“That’s actually not a bad idea. If anyone has the answer, it should be them. They’ve been alive since before the great war, so if there was a way to sort out the mess, then they would know the answer.

But tomorrow. For tonight, I have no intentions of getting out of this bed.” Ella agreed.

That seemed like the plan for the evening, but it didn’t take long before their baser instinct took over and ended any chance of them actually sleeping at a reasonable hour as they re-enacted the conception scene.

Repeatedly.

So, it was no shock to any of them that Risa cast a cleaning spell and sprayed air freshener in the room before she entered the next day at noon to give them the daily update.

The smirk on the ebony Wrathbringer’s face showed just a corner of sharp silver fangs, a sure sign to Wolfe that she was struggling not to laugh at the situation.

It really shouldn’t have been a shock to anyone that the conception spell had failed. Even if it was 99 percent effective, it had an uphill battle.

“First off, I should inform you that all of the Continental Representatives are here, while the Demon and Fae Royals are both expected within the next two hours.

Both the Seelie and Unseelie Court are sending a representative here to congratulate you and their successful candidates.

It appears that the Dark Fae didn’t actually believe that you were going to pick any of them, and their note seemed rather shocked after we informed them of the choices.

So, they might be a bit behind the others, or they might send a minor functionary. It is polite not to mention if their cohort doesn’t measure up to the others.

Secondly, the new mages are blending in well, but we are already beginning to lose some to the villages.

Many of the mages in the towers weren’t members of the towers, but lone mages who had joined with them out of ideological unity against the invaders.

Now that they are in a new world, they are going back to their more independent ways, and they are leaving for the rural villages with contracts to teach the students there.

We have been notarizing them so that they are properly binding magical contracts, as the village leaders preferred.

The mages don’t care about the requirements, as they still have the option to quit, and it mostly just guarantees that they will do the job in good faith while they are there.

The only other thing to know is that the residents are pretty nervous to have so many powerful beings in the city, but the rest of us are working on that.”

Wolfe sighed as Risa finished her update.

“I guess that I should get up and showered if we’re meeting dignitaries. But we had a question last night that we don’t know the answer to. What’s the proper way to address three saints with the same Family name?”

Risa laughed. “First, second and third. Unless you have a title, that is. Most Saints do have titles, so they use that instead of their Family name. You would be the First Noxus Saint, Cassie is the Second, as she is your first Consort, Ella is the Third Noxus Saint, or just Third Saint.

It’s considered a huge honour to the Family to be able to claim multiple Saints, but it really only matters in official documents. In person, other Saints will just use your given names instead.”
