He chose the four-room house instead of the two-story house because it had a hidden basement while the two story house was too big for him. He didn’t have any use for the extra space, and he doesn’t want to waste money heating up the whole house.
After making his decision, he moved in that day. He didn’t waste time at all.
He hired cleaners who helped him clean the house. That was the most tedious thing he had to do about moving, not the moving itself because he didn’t have a lot of things to move from his dormitory.
The man that helped him get the house also wanted to help him get servants and maids, but he refused. He has never liked the concept of a stranger living with him in what is supposed to be the safest place for him.
He wanted to live alone in his house. Anyone else that comes to his place has to be a temporary guest or an enemy. So he didn’t bother about the matter of maids and servants.
He ate dinner and went to bed in his new house. The following day, he went to the headquarters of the lamp beaters in the town to inform them that he is about to start preparing his existence for divine flesh and to request the materials needed to prepare his existence.
He can buy the materials to prepare his existence from public sources, but they might be faulty, and they will certainly be more expensive than they should be.
The materials he will get from the lamp bearers will be authentic and will be at a reasonable price because they don’t cheat people. So it is good for him to source the materials from them.
The lamp bearers will also have better channels to acquire the materials than most people in this town. After all, they are a worldwide organization, not local forces. So their supply won’t be limited.
Besides the matter of efficiency, which is the point he cares about, there is also the matter of clearing himself of suspicion. He has to tell the lamp bearers that he is about to become a godclad so that they can track his progress and vouch that he didn’t use illegal methods to prepare himself.
He doesn’t like that he has to report his progress in acquiring power to anyone, but he knows that he has to if he is to eventually get the divine flesh that he needs from them.
The materials to prepare his existence can be bought from public merchants. They will be in limited stock, might be fake, and will surely be expensive. But they can still be bought.
But divine flesh is another matter entirely. Divine flesh is like a living bomb that no one should be around but attracts people to itself.
Divine flesh is alive. It wants to escape. It is always trying to escape. If it can’t escape, it will attract people to try and get it in order to escape.
So divine flesh is dangerous for normal people to handle. They will be at risk of being tempted and mutating when they fall into temptation.
Divine flesh is also dangerous for other godclads because they will try to escape and will always cause trouble. There will also be people who will try to steal the divine flesh.
Anyone that deals with divine flesh must have secure facilities similar to maximum security prisons. Anyone that does the business of selling divine flesh must be ready to deal with the prisoners always trying to escape and people trying to break into the prison.
This is a condition that not just anyone can meet. Only a few organizations can meet this requirement. The lamp bearers are one, and if he is to buy divine flesh from them, they have to be sure that he is clean and won’t use the power he gains for evil.
He can’t just come to them one day, tell them that he is ready to assimilate divine flesh, and then ask them for it. They won’t accept that. So he must tell them that he has begun preparing his existence.
He shrugged and said, “It is not like I have anything to hide anyway. Let them investigate as much as they want. They will find nothing wrong with me.”
If he tells them that he has begun preparing his existence for divine flesh, they will certainly begin investigating where he got his money from. And while he doesn’t want people to know that he is inventor Levi, if there are some people that he can accept telling, they are the lamp bearers.
Lamp bearers have an oath to live by. They can’t be kind, but they can’t be evil, indifferent to evil when they see it, or related to evil in any way.
That means that they will have to keep his secret when they find out, and they can’t do anything harmful to him intentionally. He doesn’t trust anything, but he has some faith in the oath they swore.
He went to the headquarters early in the morning the following day. The headquarters is a large two-story building with a large part of it underground. It is so large that there is only a small space between the building and the walls separating it from the street in front of it.
The two-story shone to the world is just a part of the headquarters. Most of it is underground, and all of the important activities done in the headquarters are performed underground.
This is something he gleaned from his observation and confirmed from the probationary officers. As for how many floors are underground and what activities are carried out there, it is a secret that only officers who have become true lamp bearers know about.
Probationary officers are not allowed to go underground. They can see people and materials going and coming from underground, but they are not allowed to ask about the situation, and the lamp bearers don’t speak about it.
