First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 1869: The Great Realm Grand Tribulation, the Gods

Soon… it’s coming…

As the bloody battle raged, Su Yi had a powerful premonition that his Great Realm Grand Tribulation was imminent!

He was grievously injured and in dire peril. The way the Great Profound experts saw it, he was already an arrow at the end of its flight.

And in a sense, he was, but his will to fight was like the edge of a sword after endless tempering, sharper and more concentrated than ever before. His essence, qi, and spirit burned like a furnace, ever hotter!

The greater the danger, and the closer he was to death, the more Su Yi drew out his latent potential. It was as if his deeply buried vitality had been awakened. It was much like the time of awakening insects, when all living things flourished with new life!

“Die! Die! Die!”

The old monsters were red-eyed with murderous intent, and they used every method at their disposal, surrounding Su Yi and attacking like mad. They’d long since sensed that Su Yi had hidden cards up his sleeves, but even now, they’d yet to see him use them. They didn’t understand.

But this only made them even less willing to lower their guard.

In stark contrast with the old monsters, Su Yi was calmer than ever before. His heart didn’t so much as ripple with emotion. The brink of life and death was terrifying, but at the same time, it could draw out everything one had hidden within. He could keenly sense his potential erupting, surging endlessly within him. The sensation of an imminent breakthrough intensified, like a pot of water on the verge of boiling.

It seems that this is the limit of power I can achieve as an Immortal King.

Second-rate Great Profound experts could no longer threaten him. First-rate Great Profound Experts could perhaps injure him, but they weren’t really much of a threat. He could even fight unparalleled experts within the Great Profound Stage, like the Sovereign of Sin, but he’d struggle to defeat them, even with the Sword of the Human Realm.

Of course, in a one-on-one fight, with support from the Tree of All Worlds and the Sword of the Nine Hells, he at least had a chance of victory.

Su Yi was neither disappointed nor pleased with this. He was simply taking stock of his abilities. This would serve as a benchmark going forward as he strove for ever greater heights of the Dao of the Sword. As for his enemies? They were ultimately just whetstones he’d use to pave his path ahead!

“Die!” The Sovereign of Sin bellowed and drew a blood-red wheel. When it landed, it practically shattered Su Yi’s body, and the impact sent him flying.

The other old monsters seized the opportunity to attack without the slightest politeness. All of them looked eager, and they felt a deep sense of relief.

They could tell that Su Yi wouldn’t be able to withstand this final strike! But then, Su Yi looked up at the dome of heaven and whispered to himself, "It’s… finally here…"

An indescribable air of calamity suddenly enveloped the hall. The old monsters’ hearts shook, and their minds filled with panic. Even their souls were intimidated. They felt like ants beneath the weight of a divine dragon’s gaze.

That terrifying aura of calamity was almost suffocating. Their qi and cultivation bases even showed hints of stagnation.

Their expressions shifted dramatically, and Old Devil Star Lake—who only existed as a soul body—let out a terrified, helpless shriek. He seemed to have broken down completely. That terrifying, calamitous aura thoroughly intimidated his soul, sending him into the pits of terror and despair!

It was also then that Su Yi disappeared from view and reappeared outside the palace.

“Die!” The Sovereign of Sin reacted the quickest. He suddenly swung his arm, sending the blood-red divine wheel flying.

Boom!

The Laws of Annihilation enveloping the peak descended, shattering the blood-red divine disc into pieces.

The Sovereign of Sin suffered a backlash. He staggered on his feet, and his aged face paled. His eyes filled with horror, and he no longer dared act recklessly.

Meanwhile, Su Yi whipped around, clasped his fist, and smiled. “Many thanks for helping me break through today, everyone!”

His blue robes were tattered and stained with blood. His injuries were severe, but his back was as straight as the blade of his sword. The whole-hearted smile on his face was especially jarring beneath the light of the heavens.

The Dao Manifestation Divine Disc revolved over his head, controlling the Laws of Annihilation and preventing them from drawing near.

The old monsters’ faces were instantly ashen. They’d been so close! But in the end, their prey slipped between their fingers and escaped.

Intense bitterness and hatred left them gnashing their teeth so hard they almost broke, but none of them dared leave the hall. The Laws of Annihilation were waiting for them outside, as well as a calamitous and terrifying power. Its aura alone was enough to make their hair stand on end, and chills coursed through their entire bodies. ⱤäΝỐBΕs

Meanwhile, Su Yi walked through the air, hands behind his back, and rose into the firmament.

Only then did the crowd notice the tribulation clouds gathering beneath the dome of heaven. They were dense, dark, and heavy as lead. Although they hovered there, silent and still, they emanated a heart-palpitating and strange air of calamity. An oppressive, terrifying atmosphere descended over heaven and earth.

The old monsters gasped, and their scalps went numb.

“This… this is far more terrifying than my Great Martial Stage Tribulation was! That calamitous aura is simply… despair itself!” one of them cried out in horror.

“So he really wasn't up to any tricks. From beginning to end, he saw us as nothing more than whetstones. He was risking his life to get the opportunity he needed to break into the Great Realm!” said another old monster, a complicated look on his face.

Was Su Yi stupid? Had he overestimated himself? No. This young Immortal King had brazenly chosen to release them from their prison, all for the sake of breaking through!

“That’s indeed the case,” someone said bitterly. “Earlier, he refrained from using external power, but that doesn’t mean he had nothing else at his disposal. He simply disdained to use other means as he was striving for his next breakthrough.”

All of them watched as the Laws of Annihilation destroyed the Sovereign of Sin’s blood-red divine wheel. Thus, they didn’t even need to think to know that, had Su Yi used the Laws of Annihilation against them, they would have suffered the same fate.

This realization didn't please them in the slightest. On the contrary, they felt more frustrated than ever before.

A young Immortal King was treating them like mere whetstones. The most ridiculous part was that they’d actually thought they had a chance at escaping and regaining their freedom.

“But he’s so badly injured. How could he possibly undergo tribulation and break through?” someone said in confusion.

Why hadn’t they considered the possibility that Su Yi might attempt a breakthrough? Rather, why did they consider the possibility, then immediately dismiss it? Simple: none of them thought someone so badly injured could overcome a tribulation.

After all, the Great Realm Grand Tribulation was the most terrifying an immortal had to face. Who knew how many dazzlingly talented Immortal Kings had perished beneath their tribulations over the years? The tribulation was not just a barrier but a massive wall, and there was no guarantee that even one in a thousand Immortal Kings could successfully overcome it.

More importantly, before Immortal Kings attempted this tribulation, they always did their utmost to prepare. They’d even draw upon their connections to request that established Great Realm experts serve as their dharma protectors. Their greatest fear was that something unexpected would affect their breakthrough.

Thus, none of them could have guessed that Su Yi’s real goal was to invite his tribulation and break into the Great Realm. What Immortal King would dare attempt such a thing alone and badly injured? How was that any different from seeking out his own demise?

“There’s likely something we won’t know. That he dares attempt such a thing suggests he has reason to be confident,” the Sovereign of Sin said gravely. “But we needn’t lose heart over this. We still have at least two chances at survival! For one, if the boy perishes beneath his tribulation, we won’t even need to lift a finger. Also, we can take advantage of his tribulation to flee. If we can overcome the threat of the Laws of Annihilation, we can flee Spiritual Desolation Mountain!”

The old monsters’ eyes flashed. All of them nodded.

As they conversed, the sky darkened. Ink-dark tribulation clouds had thoroughly enveloped the dome of heaven.

Like the onset of an eternal night.

Crunch! Crack!

The Laws of Annihilation formerly covering the peak seemed unable to withstand the tribulation’s terrifying aura. They collapsed and dissipated completely.

The old monsters were practically startled out of their wits. Goosebumps rose on their skin.

The mere aura of this grand tribulation had destroyed power left here by a god. How terrifying would the tribulation be when it descended in full force?

What kind of Great Realm Grand Tribulation was this?

The tribulation completely enveloped heaven and earth. If they tried to flee Spiritual Desolation Mountain, would they… be destroyed, just like the Laws of Annihilation?

The mere thought of it was enough to make them quiver!

“My heavens!! Quick, look! That’s…” someone suddenly called out.

The others followed his gaze and saw grand, illusory figures deep within the vortex of tribulation clouds, peering down from across seemingly endless time and space.

There was a woman on a vermillion bird, surrounded by an endless sea of flame, and a man standing on the clouds, endless stars reflected behind him.

There was a decrepit monk with three heads and six arms. He stood atop a mountain of corpses and an ocean of blood, holding a grand and holy Buddhist kingdom aloft in the palm of his hand.

There was also a seemingly teenage Daoist seated on a wooden sword. When he scanned the area, endless sword qi seemed to sweep throughout time and space!

The gods used this calamitous Great Realm Grand Tribulation to stand proudly across endless time and space. It was a terrifying, astonishing scene.

The old monsters were completely dumbstruck. Their minds filled with terror, and their hearts clenched.

Are those the lofty, unreachable gods? What kind of terrifying tribulation is this, for the gods to make a personal appearance!?

Meanwhile, Su Yi stood calmly beneath the divine tribulation in his bloodstained robes. He gazed into the dome of heaven, a hint of a cold smile tugging at his lips.

Those guys again!

After stepping into the Immortal Dao, every time he broke into a new realm, the gods would peer down at him from across an endless expanse of time and space. At first, this astonished and confused him. This time, he was used to it, and he simply disregarded them.
