The moment the bodies soaking in those blood pools opened their eyes,
the bishops of the Veda Sect knew that the sacrifice had succeeded, and in exchange, they would obtain even more powerful Evil Corpses.
Of course…
These Evil Corpses were specifically aimed at Du Wei.
In return, Fiona and the others were well aware that the collective murder of the servants and butler at Goliath Winery would bring about a double blow from the authorities and the church, as well as resistance on this land.
But the thought patterns of the cultists were different from ordinary people; they thought that as long as they could kill Du Wei, everything was worth it.
Hatred can make people reckless and more unscrupulous.
Fiona looked at the six Evil Corpses and said in a deep voice, “Go then, seek revenge on that man, let him know how foolish it is to thwart the plans of the Veda Sect.”
“Make the church suffer the loss of a Deputy Chief Judge and let them feel the pain.”
The doctrine of the Veda Sect is death and pain.Goliath Viktor naturally knew this too, and she laughed maliciously in a piercing voice, “I can’t wait to see his corpse.”
The pain of her disfigurement had twisted her worldview.
If Du Wei were here, he would no doubt recommend that she be subject to compulsory treatment and sent to a mental hospital.
Of course…
He was not there; what was present in the winery was a dark shadow.
Thud, thud, thud…
The regular and mechanical knocking sound suddenly rang out.
All the people in the hall felt an unexplained sense of alarm.
The older bishop frowned and looked at the Evil Corpses climbing out of the blood pools. With doubts, she said, “What’s going on? Did I hear knocking?”
Evil Corpses are a type of aberrant Evil Spirit, terrifying and fearsome.
But Evil Corpses don’t knock on doors.
Fiona was puzzled, “Something seems off; I sense a dangerous aura.”
In this hall, apart from Goliath Viktor, the others were all senior cultists of the Veda Sect, with some understanding of Evil Spirits.
In fact, they were not much different from the church’s exorcists.
They too had Spirit Vision.
After all, it wasn’t exclusive to the church or some so-called power system; it was simply an ability that arose naturally from prolonged contact with Evil Spirits.
Only Goliath Viktor was a normal person. She watched the others’ strange expressions and said hoarsely, “It’s just a knock at the door, maybe someone is upstairs.”
As she spoke, she cast a strange glance toward the second floor.
She did not associate the knocking with Evil Spirits but thought it might be servants hiding upstairs.
After all, the recent slaughter had been too bloody.
It wasn’t impossible for someone to be upstairs.
However…
The following sequence of knocks shattered Goliath Viktor’s assumption.
Thud, thud, thud…
The eerie sound of knocking rose again, this time even more intense than before.
Goliath Viktor shuddered and realized the source of the problem. The sound was not coming from upstairs nor was it in the hall; it was inside her own ears.
She turned her head abruptly, looking at Fiona and the others with a look of horror.
“An Evil Spirit?”
Her voice trembled.
The expressions on Fiona and the others’ faces were uncertain. They looked at one another and immediately made a judgment, “We’ve been targeted by an Evil Spirit, but why here in the winery?”
The older bishop turned to Fiona, “Did your people cause trouble outside?”
Her tone was tinged with blame.
Fiona hurriedly shook her head, “I hadn’t done anything when the police found out. Even my subordinates had only visited that man’s psychological counseling clinic; it’s impossible for us to have attracted an Evil Spirit.”
The bishop gritted her teeth and said, “Never mind, it’s just an Evil Spirit. Find it and eliminate it; we’ll settle the score with you later.”
Fiona reluctantly agreed, yet could only nod and say, “I will give you an explanation.”
Once the Veda Sect had made a decision, they immediately began to search for the presence of the Evil Spirit.
But what happened next panicked them all.
Only a bang was heard.
The hall’s doors closed forcefully, as if an invisible set of large hands were exerting great strength.
The wind raised by the closing doors swirled inside the hall.
Suddenly, all of the burning candles were snuffed out.
The entire hall was plunged into darkness.
Fiona and the others hurriedly shouted, “Quick, turn on the lights… damn it.”
In the darkness, Goliath Viktor yelled, “I’ll go…”
After that, she moved to the corner of the wall and started rummaging around quickly.
Growing up in the winery had made her very familiar with every nook and cranny.
In just a minute, she had found the light switch on the wall.
Click…
The lights turned on.
The hall regained clarity, but strangely, the light cast a hazy blood-red hue, giving everyone’s faces a ghastly appearance.
Fiona noticed faint bloodshot in everyone’s eyes.
But it did not seem to be because of the strange light.
“Do you see that Evil Spirit?”
She asked the others urgently.
But instead of answering her, they all took a step back simultaneously, each with a grave expression as if facing a formidable enemy.
Goliath Viktor let out a shriek, retreating and trembling at the same time.
“Evil… Evil Spirit…”
Fiona’s face changed, and without hesitation, she took out a scarecrow, smeared with a Hexagram pattern drawn in blood.
But it was only a moment.
She felt the scarecrow in her hand suddenly burst into flames, the searing heat made her instinctively throw it away.
Thwack…
A dagger stabbed in directly from the back of her head, piercing through at the position of her eyes.
Blood surged…
Behind her, a shadowy figure with only an outline visible slowly pulled out the dagger.
The lifeless corpse fell heavily to the ground.
Then, the bloody-eyed gaze of the shadow turned towards all the remaining people…
Malice surged like a tide, dark and violent.
It had already killed quite a few…
Seeing this, the older bishop drew a short knife from her body, slashing open her left hand and releasing a copious amount of blood.
Then, she lowered her head, stretching out her finger towards the shadow.
All the Evil Corpses immediately lunged at the shadow.
But they grasped at nothing.
The shadow stepped back and disappeared into the shadows.
At the same time, an overwhelming sense of oppression filled the entire hall, making it hard to breathe.
The light bulbs overhead all shattered at that moment.
Darkness descended once more…
A chilling coldness emerged slowly in their hearts, causing their hair to stand on end.
Goliath Viktor realized the threat of death and strived to keep herself alert, running towards the spot where the older bishop had just been.
As she ran, she said, “I am willing to give all my wealth to the Veda Sect, you cannot let me die.”
But there was no response.
The hall submerged in darkness was eerily silent.
Goliath Viktor could only hear her own breathing and footsteps, and an inexplicable scratching noise.
It was eerily akin to a killer with a dagger scratching against the wall, trying to drive someone insane.
