Dragon Genesis: I Can Create Dragons

Chapter 296: She will be an excellent Elemental Mage.

Chapter 296: She will be an excellent Elemental Mage.

“If they are willing to accept me,

Then I wish to form a Bond with them as well.”

The Princess decided with a determined look on her face. She was prepared to do this, not just for herself, but for her Bonds as well.

She didn’t wish for her Bonds to get hurt even in the Afterlife, they only deserved the best and she would make sure it happened.

Seeing the girl clench her fists with such an expression, the Dragon nodded, satisfied. By now, the rest of Kael’s Bonds had come out as well, they all seemed to be cheering for Lavinia, even Cirri.

Actually, Cirri was the one who supported her the most, it was… suspicious.

It felt as if the little girl was planning something.

Of course, someone like Kael would never find his daughter suspicious, to him, his Cirri was an adorable little girl who wanted everyone to be happy, it was only natural for her to support Lavinia.

“How do I form a Bond with them?”

Lavinia questioned. Kael turned towards Igni as well, he was curious too.

“Before that, I must warn you.

Once you form a Bond with Elementals, you will learn what is called Elemental Magic.”

“Elemental Magic?”

Lavinia tilted her head.

“It is a higher form of Magic, a Magic that allows you to cast spells without having to rely on the Circles you humans cherish so much.”

“A… Circleless Magic…?”

Lavinia blinked in surprise.

“That is correct, it is much stronger than the Magic System you currently follow and as you progress further, the difference between the two Magic Systems will only grow wider.”

“Then why the warning? Is this not good for me?”

“It is essentially good for you, but Elemental Magic does have one disadvantage.”

“What is it?”

“Elemental Magic can only be used once you form a Bond with an Elemental, and once you do form a Bond with an Elemental, you can no longer form Bonds with normal Magic Beasts and will only be able to form Bonds with different types of Elementals till you meet your end.

And since Elementals cannot interact with the physical world themselves, you can no longer be called a Tamer.

You will become an Elemental Mage instead.”

Igni explained.

“I can… no longer be a Tamer…?”

Lavinia blinked.

It was a possibility that scared her a little, after all, every being in this world was a Tamer. To think she wouldn’t be one if she followed through with it…

It sounded… lonely.

Not just that, there were several other problems as well.

“T-Then how will I grow stronger without Bonds? Does this mean I will remain stuck at this level for the rest of my life? If I become an Elemental Mage, will I be able to use normal spells that I learned?

Also, don’t the mages usually have weak bodies? Usually, we take care of such issues by Bonding with a Magic Beast with high mobility or defense, how am I supposed to tackle this weakness now?

And I als—”

“Calm down, Lavinia.”

As Lavinia started asking a series of questions, Igni calmed her down.

“It is natural to fear the unknown.

The questions you ask are all valid and I do have answers to them. For now, however, I ask you to trust me.

Being an Elemental Mage will benefit you, yes, with new strengths, you will have new weaknesses to worry about, but you will still be a lot stronger than you are right now.”

“…”

The Princess turned silent.

She still had a lot of questions in her head, however, seeing as how the Dragon was looking at her, she nodded. She also wanted to meet the Elementals who had been taking care of her for such a long time.

So after exchanging one last nod with Kael, she turned towards Igni and,

“Please tell me how to form a Bond with the Elementals.”

She requested.

“Go sit over there.”

He pointed at an open space while he and the others moved back, giving the Princess more space.

Lavinia sat on the floor cross-legged, staring at Igni to continue.

“The Elementals around you are very excited, but I will be biased here and start with the Flames.”

The Dragon chuckled lightly.

Lavinia nodded at his words and Igni began,

“Straighten your back, clear your mind and close your eyes.”

The Princess did as she was told.

“Do you sense the Fire Elementals flickering around you?”

“I do.”

Lavinia nodded.

“Gather them all.”

The Dragon instructed.

“Like I do when I meditate?”

“Similar, but instead of gathering them inside your body, you are supposed to gather them in front of you—”

Igni instructed and to make sure Lavinia understood, he manipulated the Elementals and gathered them in front of Lavinia, making sure they did not turn into physical flames.

“—just like this.”

“I understand.”

Lavinia nodded, this didn’t seem very difficult.

“Of course, what I did was just a demonstration, I only gathered a few of them, you are supposed to gather all of them.”

“All of them…?”

Lavinia muttered, a little taken aback.

“Yes.”

“But that is impossible.”

The Princess shook her head.

If one tries to gather all Elements of a particular type in one place, after a while, these Elements begin to repel each other and the mage starts losing control.

It was a common knowledge that even beginner Mages with proper training knew.

This was also the reason mages directly absorb the elements in their bodies instead of gathering them together and absorbing them in bulk.

“That is impossible for normal humans, not you.”

Igni answered.

“Huh…?”

Lavinia opened her eyes and frowned in confusion.

“Elementals in general do not like being near humans, but they do not have enough energy to resist them when the humans try to absorb them.

However, when one gathers Elementals together, they become stronger, giving them enough energy to move out of their control and distance themselves from beings they do not like.

But you need not worry about such matters,

The Elementals never resist beings they cherish.”

Igni explained in more detail. Lavinia nodded as she once again closed her eyes and did what she was told.

And just as she expected, the instant she put her will into it, the Elementals moved, they almost seemed eager to move, as if they knew exactly what was going on.

Their actions put a light smile on Lavinia’s face and that smile alone was enough for Igni to know,

“She will be an excellent Elemental Mage.”

The Dragon smiled.
