Chapter 3511: Trial and Error
Rean brought them to the lower parts of the Zoshia Enterprise. At some point, they reached a door, protected by several security mechanisms. Rean didn’t seem to be bothered, though. He simply went to the controls on the side and touched a few things there. "Qwerty already prepared this for us. This place was also part of the system."
Everything turned off, and the door ahead opened.
"I don’t remember a place like this in the Zoshia Enterprise..." CAU03 mentioned.
SANS-G2 knew why. "That’s because it was added by SANS-G01 after the SANS and CAU Units were separated. Still, he was the only one with access to this place."
Using the connection there, Rean made the lights turn on. What appeared in front of everyone was a huge underground facility with countless capsules containing robots inside. At each of the capsules’ sides, another one could be seen, and inside... many pregnant women!
"This..." Kentucky and the others were shocked by the sight.
Rean, having understood the methods, continue to explain. "Morty asked how Ronk managed to integrate a soul into a sentience code, right? Well, the best way to describe it is trial and error."
"It would take forever for me to go further into the details, so the basics are that he would try an integration using various different methods, elements, timings, etc, and see what went wrong. By adapting to the mistakes and recording the parts that presented good prospects, he made that first EVO Unit."
Rean then pointed further away, and at the very back, a much bigger capsule could be seen, with a robot inside. There was no woman capsule by its side, though. It was there alone. "That’s the EVO Unit... Or, to be more specific, the fifth generation. The first four had their successes but had many problems as well. SANS-G01 was getting quite close to a perfect integration, turning a Sentience Code into a Soul while preserving the sentience of the Robot. The Fifth Generation seems to be the culmination of everything."
"How did he manage to do all of this without any of us noticing...?" CAU03 couldn’t help but ask.
"That is actually pretty simple," Roan spoke. "He wasn’t really a SANS Unit. That means he wasn’t restricted to the confinements of the city. Not to mention, as a G Project Unit, he had a power equivalent to a Space-Time Realm expert, even if a very shit one."
Rean followed. "He basically left the city and invaded the Divine Realm or Divine Snow World, capturing many mortal women. At that level, he could go to various different continents and take one or another woman here and there and still come back in no time. Even better, without anyone noticing. No one would really pay attention to the disappearance of women in such a gigantic area of operation."
"Exactly," Roan nodded. "Even though there are many women here, hundreds of thousands more die every day if you consider just how many living beings you can find out there in each continent. What we have here isn’t worth considering at all."
"That’s quite sick..." Zangeshu commented, even he found it disgusting.
Rean agreed and continued his explanation. "Regardless of the methods he used, the fact is that he achieved success. If the information in the logs is correct, that fifth generation of the EVO Unit back there should be able to receive a robot’s sentience code and merge it with a newborn soul. By the way, the newborn soul is already inside it, just waiting for the core with the sentience core of a robot to start the merging."
Suddenly, everyone felt Divine Energy accumulating near them. When they looked, they saw Abi, the sect master of the Divine Snow Mountain Sect, gathering that energy around her. "I’m bringing this place down right now!" She was enraged by the sight and had no intention of letting this continue or be used again.
"Wait, wait, wait!" The SANS and CAU Units immediately asked. "If you do that here, the entire Zoshia Enterprise Building will go down as well. We can’t let you do that! Besides, are you going to kill those women there?"
Rean then patted Abi on the shoulder. "There is no need for you to go that far, although I know why you decided to destroy it all. The women... their souls have been destroyed. They are nothing more than breeding machines now."
Indeed, Abi had noticed that, and so did the other elders. Thus, they could understand why Abi felt like that. "What do you suggest?"
"What else?" Rean asked back. "Let’s give these women a proper burial. Isn’t that the best?"
"What about this sick project?" Abi asked again.
"The means were wrong, but the idea wasn’t," Rean spoke his thoughts. "Ronk just wanted a chance to grow stronger, like all of us do. Besides, let’s be honest here: there are plenty of evil cultivation methods out there that are countless times worse than what Ronk was doing here. At least he didn’t cause anyone any torture. From the records in the files, he eliminated those women’s souls instantly."
"So you saying I should just ignore this place?" Abi didn’t think she had it in her.
Rean then looked at CAU and the SANS Units. In the end, this place held a much higher important to the robots than to the living beings like him. It was ultimately their task to decide what to do with this place. It’s just that he would take those women away and give them proper burials regardless of what they decided.
Understanding Rean’s thought, the robots exchanged several messages in that short time, and finally reached a decision both CAU and SANS agreed with. "We will dismantle this place, but we will keep the data. What we can promise is that we won’t use these methods. For us robots, the idea of one day being able to really ’live’ and grow like you lot is something we could only dream of. It’s like Rick said, Ronk’s methods were wrong, but his ideas were not."
Abi finally let go of the energy she gathered, although she wasn’t completely satisfied. "Fine, but I will keep a close eye on you. Since I need to rebuild the sect, we will probably stay here for quite a while anyway."
Silveria and the core elders joined her. They knew their best option was to rebuild the sect again with the help of the robots. Perhaps, when they go out of the Evernight World again, the sect will truly be a force to reckon with in the entire Divine Realm.
Not to mention that this Evernight World wasn’t bound by the Space-Time Realm cultivation limitation. The elders, Abi and the disciples could break into the Divinity Realm without anyone coming after them because of that. It was indeed a great place to restart everything with safety.
The robots saw no problem with that. If anything, perhaps the sect would be able to help them in that endeavor. "As you wish."
"By the way..." Kentucky commented. "That EVO Unit back there. It is pretty much complete, right? Why hasn’t SANS-G01 used it with his own sentience?"
CAU431 opened the last log before the battle between the CAU and SANS Units started. "SANS-G01... errr... Ronk wrote it here."
-The Fifth Generation seems to be the answer, but I’m afraid. What if it goes wrong? Will I disappear if I fail? I can’t bring myself to try to integrate the new soul into my sentience code. I need to test it more...-
"And that was the last log. After that, the battle started... and Qwerty and Rick ultimately destroyed him before he could try and test more." CAU431 said.
