Chapter 3497: Seven Units
Roan’s plan was very simple. They would take control of as many manufacturing facilities as possible, and that would give them a huge amount of supplies. They couldn’t make more parts since the systems of those facilities were controlled by the Zoshia Enterprise Building. However, they could at least prevent any more parts from going to the central part of the city. Besides, there were the parts and materials that were already available in the facilities that could be used.
In a matter of minutes, over a hundred of those facilities were taken from the SANS Units, leaving the SANS Units who were protecting the Zoshia Enterprise Building without much to do. Of course, there were also facilities near the Zoshia Enterprise that the CAU Units couldn’t take, especially the most important one, the Core Manufacturing Facility. But without the rest of the materials, it was pretty useless to make new robots.
Meanwhile, Celis retracted his Domain, seeing that the SANS Units hadn’t come to attack the CAU Units straight away. "How long until you think they come?"
Roan shrugged. "It matters not. Time is on our side since the SANS Units have higher numbers to take care of. They will definitely come; just don’t drop your guard."
"What about us?" Abi asked. So far, she hasn’t done much, nor did the other elders.
"You are our guarantee we won’t be wiped out too fast," Roan commented. "With your strength, we should be able to hold for a while." That was also why Roan said that without the sect elders, at least half of the CAU Units would be lost. But now that they are here, he believes the losses will be much lower.
Silveria narrowed her eyes. "You still haven’t told us why you want them to come after us. They have enough numbers to take us down and also protect the Zoshia Enterprise from what I can see."
"They do," Roan didn’t deny that, "but not enough to cover all blind spots. Don’t forget our objective. We need to get Qwerty inside."
"Do you even know what to expect inside?" Elder Yun asked as well.
"It won’t matter," Roan shook his head. "The important part is that we lure at least half of those forces away from there. As for the rest, sorry, but I won’t comment on that. You see it by yourselves. Meanwhile, we need to wear them down."
The SANS Units didn’t come after the CAU Units straight away. They obviously saw how the CAU Units took control over several of their manufacturing facilities, but they weren’t harsh. They have experienced way too many setbacks from Roan’s command to believe there were no traps waiting for them in those facilities. Besides, their objective was still behind them, protect the Zoshia Enterprise and the servers.
However, something different began to start. From afar, the elders of the Divine Snow Moutain Sect began to launch long-distance attacks. They were assisted by the robots, using what seemed to be a mix of the normal formations from the sect and the robots’ knowledge of the city.
*Boom, boom, boom...*
Because of the big distance, the attacks that arrived were easily dealt with. There wasn’t much to be done. If the CAU Units and the Sect forces tried to get closer, they would be in a perilous position due to how many SANS Units were still there.
They didn’t seem to care about it, though. There was one good thing about the Sect not being able to fly anymore... all the Divine Stones that were reserved to be used in the sect’s formations were now free for usage. That meant both the elders and the robots had a huge supply of them.
Slowly but certainly, one or another SANS Unit was taken down. It barely made a dent in the SANS Units’ whole contingent, but the bombardment never stopped.
One day, two days, three days... the bombardment continued. By now, around 5% of the SANS Units that were protecting the Zoshia Enterprise Building were damaged to some extent. Few were truly damaged to the point they couldn’t do anything anymore, but it was still hard to accept.
Why? Simple! They didn’t have access to the manufacturing facilities that made the parts for their maintenance. Some small groups of SANS Units detached from the main force around the building, but they were swiftly dealt with. As long as they were not within that huge army, Roan had plenty of ways to take care of them.
On the fourth day, the SANS Units finally understood. The bombardment would never stop. Even worse, the Zoshia Enterprise was right behind them, and if they ignored the attacks, it could be damaged. Considering the Zoshia Enterprise was the lifeline of all robots, they simply couldn’t let it happen.
*Rumble...!*
Suddenly, the pressure over the city changed, and from behind the SANS Units, a huge gate of the Zoshia Enterprise Building began to open. From inside, nothing impressive came out. It was just a few more robots, seven, to be more precise.
However, Roan narrowed his eyes the moment they entered his sight. Even more than Roan, Celis was shocked by their appearance. "Such a huge concentration of Divine Energy..."
The elders and the CAU Units also noticed that. Roan then looked to the side, asking CAU03. "Do you know those units?"
CAU03, however, seemed as confused as the others. The lights on his spherical head showed a lost expression. "I’ve never seen or heard of those units... They are very different from any of the other SANS and CAU Units we know about."
Roan returned his attention to those seven robots. Five of them began to move forward, and together with them, at least two-thirds of all SANS Units followed. The other two stayed behind, watching the event unfold.
"Sect master, elders, I believe you found your match," Roan commented. He never trusted the CAU Units when they said their strongest Unit was equivalent to an Elemental Space Realm expert. Now, it proved right to doubt the CAU Units about that information. From Celis’s innate ability readings, he was pretty sure those seven robots up ahead were definitely stronger than that.
