Death... and me

Chapter 3494: Old Acquaintance

Chapter 3494: Old Acquaintance

Only a few months had passed since Rean last saw Saria, so she obviously was still in the Space-Bending Realm Initial Stage, just like before. Rean, too, was in the exactly same realm. That said... Saria was simply not his match!

*Tchin!*

As surprised as Rean was with the attack, Saria was too slow in his eyes. He extended his fingers, covered it with his Sky Energy, and caught the blade of her sword.

Saria looked at that as if she was dreaming. She could feel Rean’s cultivation, which was the same as hers, so how could he overwhelm her that easily?! Not only that, but she put all her strength into pulling the sword back, and yet, the two fingers Rean was using to hold the sword in place didn’t budge. "Let go!"

"Errr..." Rean didn’t know how to react. "Would you let go even though you know you would be attacked again?"

Saria narrowed her eyes. "Shut up! Just die already! How dare you betray the sect for the robots?!"

"Ah! So that’s what it is about! Hahahaha!" Rean finally understood what was happening. Be it the CAU or SANS Units, to any outsider, they are all the same robots, with just a few differences not worth mentioning. Since Rean came with these CAU Units and seemed even able to command them, Saria thought he was behind the attack and the sect’s fall.

"What’s funny?! Was it fun to see everyone being killed, uh?!" Saria got even angrier.

Yet, Rean shook his head. "You understood me wrong. I obviously didn’t like to see all the corpses outside. However, I didn’t betray anyone. These robots around you are part of what is called the CAU Units. They are not together with the robots that killed most of the sect members. In fact, they are helping us against those units you talked about."

"And do you think I will believe that?" Saria asked, still as unlikable as ever.

*Shin!*

*Woa!*

*Tud!*

Rean suddenly let go of the blade, and Saria fell on her butt, such was the strength she was pulling. She didn’t expect him to let the blade go so fast. Rean smiled and used his Divine Sense to tell her the story as well. Now, he did have time since Abi and the other elders should have joined Roan by now. "So you see? They are truly friends. Not only that, they have sentience and feelings, just like us. You are blaming the wrong robots here."

"I still don’t trust you!" Saria rebuked, but she didn’t try to attack again. Why would she? The difference in strength was made so obvious that she felt helpless.

"Well, you don’t need to trust me. I found the Sect Master and quite a few elders still alive in the sect. How about it, do you want to come with me and see them? Let’s be honest here. If I wanted to kill you, you would have been dead a long time ago." Rean spoke in a way that she simply couldn’t find a fault.

Saria looked around at the CAU Units. Trying to run seemed impossible at the moment, so she decided to at least give it a try. "Fine! Bring me to the Sect Master! But! If you try something, even if I have to die, I will do my best to bring you down with me!"

Rean took a few steps back, covering his chest with his arms and showing a fake embarrassed expression. "Such audacity! Shouldn’t we get to know each other better before you bring me down for business? I didn’t know female elves were so daring..."

Saria almost exploded... in a real embarrassment this time! "FUCK YOU!"

"Hahahaha!" Rean just couldn’t help himself there. Then, he nodded and he passed the orders to the CAU Units who were still there with him. "Everyone, we are retreating back to the front lines. Don’t mind my friend too much, please. She simply thought you were the same as the SANS Units. We will show her that it is not the case."

All of this only took a few minutes, and Rean’s group was already flying back to Roan. On the way, Rean took the opportunity to ask. "By the way, how come you were in my residence? Also, how are you still alive?"

"I..." Saria was taken aback. She had forgotten that part. There was indeed a reason for her to be there... She went there right after they defeated the Spider Robots and before they tried to enter the city. Why was she there? Well, it was a planned action! She knew Rean and his friends were out helping the sect with the city thing. That was the perfect opportunity for her to sneak inside.

"Eh?!" Rean was completely lost. "Why would you try to invade my residence while we were out?"

Saria got slightly red. "I wanted to leave this there for you..." Then, she took out a signet brooch. It emanated a gentle energy similar to Light Element but slightly different. She extended her hand forward, but avoided Rean’s gaze.

Rean took the brooch from her. He quite liked the energy feeling. Checking it with his Divine Sense, there wasn’t anything special about it. Although he hadn’t felt that energy before, he was certain he could copy it without much effort. Simply put, it looked nice, but that’s all. "Hum... I’m guessing the signet itself has some special meaning for your Elf Race?"

"It’s just a gift... for what you’ve done for me back then. It symbolizes an elf’s trust, only given on very special occasions." Saria was too proud, so she simply didn’t have the face to deliver it back then. That’s why she tried to sneak inside Rean’s residence to leave it there. Now, however, perhaps that was her only chance, so she gave up and passed it to him.

"I thought you didn’t trust me? Hahaha!" Rean asked back, feeling amused.

"This is this, that is that. The brooch was for the help back then, that’s all! Now, put it away and shut up!" Saria definitely wasn’t very good with such things.

Rean nodded, sending the brooch into the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm. "So, how come you survived the attack?"

Hearing that question helped Saria take her thoughts away from the brooch. "You should be the one answering me. When that energy invaded the sect, everyone was forced to the ground, and we were cut out of the cultivation energies of the world. Yet, even though a massacre was going around, no robot seemed to notice I was there in your residence."

"Ahhh!" Rean finally understood why. "Shit, I completely forgot that. It was my concealing formations."

Rean never trusted other formations as much as his own. So, even though Sister Orb checked the residence’s original formation and said there was nothing wrong with it, Rean still took it down and built one for himself. He was a formations maniac, so although the formation was small, he made absolutely sure it could conceal everything possible. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that the insides of his residence were even harder to detect than the room where Abi and the others were found. "You sure are a lucky girl, aren’t you?"

"We will see about that." Saria didn’t relent. She still had her doubts.

Then, finally, they returned to where Roan was located, and sure enough, the Sect master and the other members of the sect were there as well. Seeing that, Saria could only believe Rean.
