Death... and me

Chapter 3493: What’s Wrong?

Chapter 3493: What’s Wrong?

"Eh?!" Rean was taken aback. He thought he had said enough to convince them to help. Never did he expect they would turn around and run away. "Is there nothing I can do to change your mind?"

Abi shook her head, already moving in the teleport formation’s direction. "We just can’t take that risk. Sure, if we help the CAU Units and manage to free the robots from that code, then we have a lot to gain. However, what if we don’t? Who can say they won’t have a way to trap and finally finish us once and for all? At that point, the Divine Snow Mountain Sect will be done for sure. So, we decided we might as well leave."

Silveria sent a lot of the disciples and elders into her pocket dimensional realm, joining Abi and the few Core Elders on the teleport. "Rick, we thank you for coming back to help us. But it is what it is. I won’t lie to you either. You should give up this war and come with us. Take your friends, and even the remaining CAU Units and follow us out of the Evernight World."

It was then that Rean remembered something. "Well, I can’t, and I don’t think you will manage to make it out of the Evernight World either."

Silveria, Abi, and the others stopped. "What do you mean?"

"I checked it with the CAU-E Units, the ones that can guide us out of the Evernight World. They made it very clear that getting to the other side would take several decades, not hundreds of years, as we initially thought. However, the dangers on the way are plenty. It was due to the sacrifice of many CAU-E Units over millions of years that they managed to map everything and are able to guide us out," Rean explained.

Also, Rean wasn’t lying. After the first meeting with the robots in the main field of the CAU Units’ base, Rean called the CAU-E Unit to ask more about the Evernight World. It then explained how they mapped the Evernight World over the years. Now, they could indeed guide Rean and his group out of the Evernight World safely, but that was thanks to the many who were destroyed before.

Abi narrowed her eyes. The reason they made the Sect float and fly was so they could have a moving fortress while they crossed the Evernight World. Obviously, the sect wasn’t going anywhere anymore. Not to mention they don’t have even a hundredth of the total of disciples and elders they had before. If they ventured through the Evernight World as they are, perhaps...

"How can I be certain you aren’t saying that to convince us to join this battle?" Abi asked seriously. "Also, can’t you simply take one of those CAU-E Units to guide us? A single CAU-E Unit missing won’t be felt in this war of the robots."

Rean smiled in response. "Answering the first question about whether I’m lying or not, you sure have some Soul Binding Contracts remaining, don’t you? Write one very quickly and make me sign it. I will simply repeat the same things I just did to you. As for taking another CAU-E Unit away from the war. Sorry, but none of them will leave the battlefield while their friends are fighting. You can try to convince them, but I doubt you will succeed."

Abi didn’t like the confidence in Rean’s voice, but she wasn’t idiot enough to simply believe him because he said so. She indeed took a contract out, the ones her sect created, and wrote the conditions. Rean could not lie!

Rean signed it without a care for the world. Even if the system wasn’t there to protect him, nothing would happen since he wouldn’t lie anyway. Then, finally, he spoke exactly the same thing, convincing Abi that he wasn’t lying. "So, there you go. Are you going to risk it?"

Abi turned to Silveria and the other Core Elders. The contract was signed, and now they didn’t have another choice other than to believe Rean’s words. They discussed through Divine Sense for a few moments, and Abi finally relented. "Fine! Since it is dangerous regardless if we run or not, then we might take the path that brings the greatest rewards to us. We will join this war of the robots."

Rean sighed in relief, and he contacted Roan in the next moment.

A minute later, they left the hidden facility since using it to control the flight of the sect wouldn’t work due to the city’s security system. Together with the CAU Units Rean brought with him, they made their way out of the sect... but not before one of the CAU Units contacted Rean. -Rick, we found someone else, but we aren’t able to convince this living being.-

Rean narrowed his eyes. Did someone else survive outside the hidden room? The only reason the guys survived in that place was because of the many layers of concealing formations inside. Otherwise, no one was supposed to be alive. -On my way!-

But before that, Rean passed the location where Roan was commanding the armies. "Please go there. Morty and CAU03 are working together to keep the SANS Units occupied while we are here. Once you are there, Morty will tell you what to do."

Abi nodded, bringing everyone and quite a few of the CAU Units with her, returning to Roan.

Meanwhile, Rean was guided to another side of the sect. There, he found the disciples’ residences and apartments and could even see his old residence in the back. Surprisingly, the CAU Units brought him straight to his own residence. "Who could have come here?"

Inside, several CAU Units were surrounding a woman, while she seemed ready to fight at any point. The surroundings actually were pretty torn apart, showing several signs that a battle took place here not long ago. No doubt the woman had attacked the CAU Units here. When Rean entered the room, he finally understood. "Hey! No wonder you came to my house. It’s you, Saria!"

Saria, the elf that took the sect entrance exam with him. She, too, was shocked to see Rean alive. "Rick! It’s really you!"

"Alright, everyone, stand down," Rean spoke to the CAU Units there. "She is a friend of mine."

The CAU Units nodded and stepped back while Rean approached. Yet, just as he got close...

*Zash!*

Saria attacked with her sword, not holding back at all!

"What?!" Rean felt like crying. What did he do wrong?
