Chapter 3471: Destroy Them
Abi was right about that. If they lose sight of Qwerty, then they would be fucked for certain. Thus, Rean, Roan, and Hudiander flew back to Qwerty’s side while the other experts returned to the sect.
For a while, things were calm. All eyes were focused ahead and the surroundings, but nothing happened... until the landscape changed. The plants, which before were small, now increased several times in size. Trees, which were almost nonexistent earlier, now occupied the ground like a giant forest... or up to where the sect’s holophotes could reach.
If it was just that, it wouldn’t be an issue. They were flying, after all. Unfortunately, things weren’t that simple.
*Hraaaaaaa...*
*Brummmm...*
Out of nowhere, the top of the sect began to scrape something. Or, to be more specific, the protection formation did. The sect, which had been flying several kilometers above the ground, was forced down because of that. It was like the protection formation on the top of the sect was hitting a ceiling, a ceiling that got closer and closer to the ground.
"Go down! Go down!" The formations masters obviously noticed that change and issued the order for the sect to descend while it moved forward. If they kept scraping such a huge sect and its formation, they would spend countless Divine Stones to keep the protection formation running.
The sect wasn’t the only thing going down. Qwerty also flew lower and lower, and the sect followed right behind. Obviously, Qwerty seemed to know there was a ceiling above them, even though the sky was still in full view if one looked up.
-Sect Master, this won’t work for much longer. We are approaching the ground very fast. Soon, there will be no more space for the sect to pass through if this invisible ceiling doesn’t stop going down.- Said one of the formations masters through the VS Device.
The Werdlem Network wasn’t available in this place, but just like any other CD, the VS Devices also could communicate with each other as long as they were within range. In this case, the range was several hundred kilometers as they also used Divine Energy to spread their own signals.
Abi’s Divine Sense then reached the twins and Hudiander ahead, sending them a message regarding the situation. ’That’s the problem at the moment. Can you see anything ahead?’
Hudiander was the first to answer. ’Everything is still pitch black. The only light we can see is the sect itself coming behind us. Divine Sense in this place can’t go much further than a few tens of kilometers either. To make it worse, my Divine Sense can’t detect this ceiling above us, even though we know it is there.’
’It’s just like the robots,’ Rean commented. ’We also can’t see through our robots, remember? It must be the same technology.’
’It’s meaningless to know that if the sect can’t go any fur-’ Hudiander was saying until he suddenly stopped. Far in the distance, almost too far to notice, he saw some lights, yellow lights. ’What is that?’
The twins quickly looked in the same direction. Indeed, it was too far away that they almost couldn’t see it. However, it was definitely there, the lights. ’Seems like our Qwerty is going in that same direction.’
Rean didn’t think twice before calling support. ’I’ll have my friend take a look.’
Hudiander didn’t understand what kind of support it was until Kentucky flew out of the sect.
"Hey there, did you call?" Kentucky easily caught up to the twins.
"A Divine Demon Bird, uh?" Hudiander understood. "In that case, I might as well call Elder Silveria... or so I wanted, but she is busy in the sect. I’ll get Huhal instead."
Just like Kentucky, another Demon Bird arrived a moment later. It had a pink color and a long beak, while its body was covered in various spikes of the same color. His name was Huhal, a Spiked Wonder Pelican. He was also an elder in the sect, a demon beast in the Space-Time Realm Initial Stage.
"What you can see?" Hudiander didn’t waste his time before asking.
Huhal concentrated some of his Divine Energy in his eyes, and the lights in the distance seemed to enlarge in his vision. "Hum... hard to say. It is more like the lights are floating on their own."
Kentucky shook his head, though. "That’s not the case. They are being supported by thin silver threads that run further up. From what I can see, those silver threads are attached to this invisible ceiling."
Hudiander and Huhal looked at Kentucky in surprise. He could see better than Huhal even though his cultivation was so much smaller. "Are you sure?"
Kentucky nodded. "There is no doubt. At this speed, we should get there in thirty minutes or so."
"Good," Roan didn’t doubt Kentucky’s eyes. "Stay with us and let us know if so see anything out of the norm. By the way, since you think the threads are attached to the ceiling, can you tell if the ceiling is high enough so the sect can pass through?"
"Hum..." Kentucky looked behind at their sect, and then back at the lights, which quickly began to multiply as they got closer. "At the moment, yes. The sect’s bottom would still be a few hundred meters from the ground if it flew just at the limit of the ceiling. I can’t say much of what will happen further ahead, though."
"That’s enough," Roan nodded, glancing at Qwerty. "Keep an eye on this one as well."
Kentucky mentioned they would get there in thirty minutes, but that was in case the lights stayed still... which didn’t happen. When they were just ten minutes away from the light, now visible to everyone, all the lights started to detach from the silver threads.
They spread all over the place, illuminating further ahead. "Oh, so that’s what they are." Kentucky was the first one to notice. "They are also living beings. No, the lights themselves aren’t alive, but the ones who produce them are."
Huhal could now see as well. "What are those?" With his eyes, he noticed a creature shot one of those lights up, and from this distance, he also saw the silver threads Kentucky mentioned earlier. "Is that a Spider Demon Beast?"
Kentucky shook his head, his vision obviously better. "Not at all. Well, it does look like a spider, but it is completely mechanical... or so it looks like from here."
Just when they were about five minutes away from the light, things changed. All the lights that had detached from the silver threads shot in their direction, covering the sky and illuminating everything on their path. They looked more like fire arrows, such was their speed.
As soon as they got close enough to enter Hudiander’s Divine Sense, his expression turned dark. "Shit! Get ready! Those things are full of concentrated Divine Energy and Fire Element. They are bombs!"
The sect had tens of thousands of disciples. However, those lights were in the hundreds of thousands, maybe millions!
Abi understood the problem and immediately passed the order to everyone in the sect. "Everyone out! If we let them get close to the sect, the protection formation definitely won’t hold! Destroy those lights!"
