Chapter 3415: Strange Pulling Force
Kentucky was right. He and the twins were the first to see those guys, as their Divine Senses were much bigger than normal ones.
"Weird, they are trying to move forward, but something is keeping them down," Rean commented. "Sister Orb?"
[Sorry, too many formations to keep track of. This place is infested with them, layer, after layer, after layer. I don’t even want to check this place anymore.]
Rean shrugged. Did he believe Sister Orb? Not one bit! Even if she couldn’t hack the formations, she could at least point out what type they are. The number didn’t really matter... unless they were talking about Legendary Level formations, something you wouldn’t find in this place. Sister Orb definitely wanted to watch them go through the pain for entertainment. ’Well, if it was dangerous, she would have said it, so it should be fine,’ Rean thought to himself.
Roan also noticed that but didn’t even bother complaining.
Finally, they got to the same altitude as the participants who were the furthest behind. The moment they stepped into that zone, they immediately understood what was happening. There was indeed something forcing their bodies against the ground.
"This is a weird one," Rean spoke, finding no problem staying up with his body. "It is not a gravitational formation. It is not an attraction or repulsive formation either."
Zangeshu, who was also standing thanks to his Starlight Body, tried to analyze the situation with his Divine Sense. "Not gravity, not attractive or repulsive, also not a pressure type. Yet, my body is indeed being pulled to the ground. Master, whatever formation is forcing us down is interacting with something in our own bodies."
Rean agreed while he walked. "Well, I can think about a hundred different possibilities, but it is not our job to unveil what kind of formation it is. It was made for us to overcome it, and that’s what we will do."
Roan nodded. "Correct, so stop wasting your time and keep walking."
Rifindio looked at Zangeshu. "It feels like whatever is trying to pull us against the ground is not as strong on Elmer. No doubt this formation’s power also takes into consideration one’s cultivation level. Are you fine?"
Zangeshu only seemed annoyed. "I’m fine. Still have no need to use Divine Energy to keep walking."
Yet, there was one member of their group who wasn’t having an easy time. They all looked behind and saw that Ridia was struggling to follow them. "Wendy, can you keep going?" Kentucky asked.
Ridia circulated her Divine Energy through her body and transformed her branch arms back into normal arms to save energy. "I... can keep going..." Even though she said that, it was obvious she wouldn’t go much further like that.
"Do Parasol Trees have low physical resistance?" Rean asked Kentucky.
"If you are asking me because I had Celis, then you are wasting your time. Celis almost never talked about other trees," Kentucky answered. "Besides, I don’t think Celis ever encountered a Parasol Tree before."
Roan looked around, especially at the participants who had made their way further ahead. He noticed that some of those who were lying on the ground eventually sat instead. Others went from their sitting positions to standing up, resuming their journey. "No need to worry. This is not a test of strength but resistance. It seems like the cultivators can spend some time still until their bodies get used to the pulling force and then continue. We can simply wait for Wendy to do the same."
"Oh!" No one there minded waiting for the girl. In the end, she just had too little time to train, so it made sense her physical body wasn’t that strong. Roan’s cultivation technique he made for her is not a body type one, but it should help in the long term as well.
Ridia was actually doing much better than most. Even if she wasn’t as resistant as the rest of the twins’ group, she was still a Divine Demon Tree. They walked up the mountain for another hundred or so kilometers, surpassing many other participants who had arrived at the mountain earlier. It was only at that moment that Ridia exhausted the last bits of her energy and was forced to sit down. "S-Sorry, senior Mo-Morty, Daffy..."
Roan and Kentucky shook their heads. "Just focus on recovering your Divine Energy and getting used to the pulling force. We have plenty of time."
Zangeshu also sat to rest as he wasn’t as resistant as Rean, Roan, and Kentucky. He still at least felt the fatigue. Rifindio was a Divine Camazotz Bat with plenty of experience and training, so he was also fine.
As Ridia rested, Rean commented on what he saw. "There are some races, especially spirits, that don’t really have bodies, so they seemed to be moving up the mountain without any issues."
Roan also noticed that. "They were lucky that this test suited them, that’s all. You better not come up with some bullshit words like unfairness."
"It is unfair," Rean said. "But I’m not an idiot. The world is not fair, and at no moment in the test it was mentioned the test would be fair, so this is only natural. If anything, our presence here is the unfairest of them all."
Roan gave a rare nod of approval. "At least you recognize that."
Kentucky looked at Ridia and couldn’t help but ask. "Can’t I simply carry her on my back so we can continue this test?"
"Well... there was no rule against helping other participants," Rean pondered a bit. "Although I don’t think the Divine Snow Mountain Sect would make it this easy. After all, you could kind of contract someone to carry you through the test in that case, and I don’t think the sect would allow that."
Kentucky quickly changed back into his Minokawa form and moved to Ridia’s side, using his Divine Energy to put her on his back. Yet, as soon as he did that...
*Zuooommm...*
The pulling force being exerted on Kentucky’s body increased ten times! Kentucky’s feet caved into the ground, making it look like he weighed so much more. "Hmph! Just this? I can take i-"
*Zuooommm...*
*Bang!*
Before the poor bird could finish his words, the pulling force once again increased ten times, and his face slammed against the ground.
*Ouch...*
Ridia noticed that and immediately left Kentucky’s back, sitting on the ground again. It was only then that the pulling force returned to the normal level for Kentucky. "M-Master..."
*Bleh, bleh, bleh...*
Kentucky coughed out the dirt from his mouth. He was talking when that happened... "Fuck! This sect truly doesn’t hold back, does it? Don’t worry, Wendy. Your master is fine."
Rean shrugged and laughed. "I warned you, didn’t I? Hahaha!"
Roan also sat down, spending his time meditating. "Just wait for Wendy to recover. That’s all."
Without another choice, everyone sat down as well and waited. They had no lack of Divine Stones for Ridia, so she was already back on her feet an hour later. Just like that, they continued on their way up.
