Chapter 3414: Lying Down
Rean and Roan finally got to the Divine Snow Mountain after two weeks. They not only put down quite a few hundred disciples of the sect but there were even a few participants that turned on them for various reasons. Regardless, no one was truly a match for the twins.
"There is Daffy Duck," Rean pointed into the distance and saw Kentucky and Rifindio waiting for them a kilometer or so ahead. It was easy to tell since they had a connection with Kentucky.
The twins started to go up as well, meeting the two Demon Beasts a moment later. "Seems like the two of you got here without any issues," Rean commented.
Kentucky nodded but then pointed to another two. "Surprisingly, these two got here ahead of us."
Rean and Roan looked to the side, and there they saw Zangeshu and Ridia. "Oh! I didn’t expect you two to be here already."
Roan slightly nodded in satisfaction. "Seems like Wendy made good use of the things she learned in the Dimensional Realm."
Wendy... or Ridia, quickly came to Roan’s side. "Senior Morty, that was mean! Everyone on the way wanted to kill us!"
"Hmph!" Roan snorted. "I wouldn’t expect anything less. What would be the point of this test if they couldn’t kill you? In any case, you survived, didn’t you? You did well. Now, go bother your master, not me."
Kentucky shrugged. "As kind of her master, she already gave me an earful..."
Rean was more interested in Zangeshu, though. "This arm of yours is quite new. Did Kentucky heal it for you? Don’t tell me you managed to lose your arm in such an easy test."
Zangeshu’s mouth twitched. "Easy your ass! You gave me that thing to take care of, so what did you want? Be happy I at least got here. Besides, I was faster than you! Do you have the right to judge me?"
"This..." Rean wanted to retort, but it was true that he and Roan were the last ones to arrive at the Divine Snow Mountain’s foot. Rean turned his head in Roan’s direction, complaining. "See what you did? If you hadn’t wasted so much time speaking nonsense about Mom’s desserts, we wouldn’t have been last. What kind of example are you trying to make me show to my disciple?"
Roan tightened the grip on his scythe. He was a hair’s way of taking Rean’s head already. "Don’t worry, I can help with it. I can kill you now, then you won’t need to show anything to anyone anymore. How about that?"
"Ahem..." Rifindio finally intervened. "How about we climb the mountain instead? The test said that we had to get to the sect, and the sect is around the top of the mountain, not the bottom."
Kentucky looked up, barely able to make out anything at the top. "I can’t even see if there is a Sect up there or not. Well, the fact we could see this mountain from outside the forest shows how ridiculously big it is. How far up do you think it goes?"
Rean ignored Roan and took a look. The mountain looked even bigger than when he commented about it back in the city. "At least a few tens of thousand kilometers, I would say. But the official website also mentioned that the sect itself occupied a few hundred kilometers surrounding the mountain top."
Roan swung his scythe a little before walking forward. He could see a few other participants who also arrived at the base of the mountain like his group. Truth be told, no one in his group was in a hurry on their way here. If they had put in real effort, they would have arrived way earlier and definitely ahead of Zangeshu and Ridia.
"Isn’t it better to simply jump on Daffy Duck’s back and fly up there?" Rean asked while pointing at Kentucky.
Kentucky was the one to answer. "Do you think I would be waiting for you down here if I could fly up there? Give it a try. See if you can fly."
Rean circulated his Divine Energy, and sure enough, he didn’t get even a single centimeter from the ground, let alone fly. "Meh... another anti-flight formation. But what about your wings, Daffy?"
Kentucky shook his head, opening his wings and flapping with quite some strength. Yet, other than creating a huge gale of wing, Kentucky also didn’t leave the ground. "Some kind of force is keeping me here. Even normal flight is useless."
"I see..." Rean nodded, giving up flying. "Well, let’s go up then."
Roan was already a few hundred meters ahead, though.
"That guy doesn’t even care about us, does he?" Rean sighed.
"What do you think?" Kentucky couldn’t agree more.
Everyone quickly caught up to Roan, and they walked up the mountain. Using their Divine Senses and even their eyes, they could see some of the other participants who also made their way to this point. The weird thing was that those disciples of the sect didn’t attack them anymore after they reached the mountain. They kept going up, and nothing seemed to happen at all.
By the time they believed they had made it halfway up, Ridia asked. "Are there no enemies anymore? Could it be we already passed the test and just need to get to the sect?"
Rean would be very happy if that was the case. "Let’s hope so. However, don’t drop your guard. Otherwise, Elmer here will have to give another arm to save your little butt."
Ridia quickly shook her head and spread even more of her leaves. She truly didn’t want that to happen again. "I will not let that happen!"
"Hum?" Kentucky, who had the best eyes in the group, was the first to notice something. "Rick, Morty, there are a few participants lying down further up."
The twins and the others couldn’t see it as well as Kentucky. "Are they trying to ambush us and other participants?"
Kentucky narrowed his eyes. "Doesn’t seem like they are. It is more like they can’t get up. They should enter our Divine Senses range soon, so we will see."
