Death... and me

Chapter 3404: Not Normal

Chapter 3404: Not Normal

'For now, that's just a possibility,' Roan commented in the passing. 'We can come and check it again in the future.'

"And what does it have to do with the migration?" Kentucky asked again.

'That's the point,' Roan continued. 'You mentioned that the Glacial Overflow does not go from south to north. However, if it connects to the underworld, then perhaps the return happens down there. Once again, this is just a theory. There are many others. For example, there might be some kind of underground tunnel connecting both sides. Or perhaps it is a Dimensional Realm with two different exits. Maybe it is a some teleport method... In any case, the underworld theory is only plausible because of that Decaying Energy. That's all.'

Rean shrugged in the end. "Well, we will not go back anytime soon. We are on our way to the Divine Snow Mountain, so let's focus on it for now."

Both Kentucky and Roan agreed, and they continued on their way.

A day later, Kentucky arrived with Rean at Juntiy City, entering it and renting a small estate. For cultivators at their level, it wasn't worth even pocket change, especially in a small city like this one. Once in there, Rean made another simple concealing formation, quickly bringing Gram, Duleti, and Farlo out after.

"Here we are, Juntiy City," Rean smiled while saying. "How's your training with the puppets going? Can you move them well?"

Gram walked a little, and although it looked a little clumsy, he didn't trip anymore. "I'm s-still managing this new body's movement and spk-speech. The puppet is very sensitive to my inputs, so Ri- I still need some time."

Duleti wasn't much different. She walked around a little and tried to use the Divine Energy in the puppet. "Qi-Quite hard. Bur-But this is good. Once we get zuse-used to this, we will be able to control then-them in fine detail."

Farlo was the one having the best time. Rean made him a puppet of the same size as his Spirit Race, and it looked almost identical if you ignored the puppet's details. "Well, my previous body used a different type of energy than you guys, so I guess that helped me with this new body. I can already float and speak without many issues."

"Sorry," Rean apologized to Farlo. "I know your race cultivates with Starlight Energy, but I've never made a puppet that works with Starlight Energy before. You will have to make do with Divine Energy instead."

"That's fine," Farlo didn't mind. "It is not like I'm using it to cultivate. That's just the puppet's fuel, so I will get used to it." After saying that, Farlo floated to the exit. "In any case, thanks for renting this estate, but I have no intention of staying here. I'm confident I can pass by a normal spirit with the small robe you gave me. I'm taking my leave."

Rean didn't doubt Farlo could pull it off. "That's good. Where are you going? Back to your race in Doromandel Continent?"

"Yes," Farlo confirmed. There wasn't a need to hide that anyway. "Puppet or no puppet, I have friends there who can give me a hand. In any case, thanks for saving my life back in the Glacial Corridor. Perhaps one day I can pay this favor."

Rean definitely wouldn't stop him. "Then I wish you good luck. Perhaps you will indeed find a way to restore your body. In fact, it should be slightly easier for you as Spirits' bodies aren't as complex as humanoid and demon beast races' bodies."

"I hope you are right," Farlo accepted Rean's good intentions. "Well then, farewell, everyone."

Farlo then left the house, quickly disappearing in the crowd moments later.

Rean and Kentucky remained behind with Gram and Duleti. "Well, it is like Farlo said. I rented this estate for you to spend your time getting used to your new puppet bodies. The lease is one year. After that, you can re-rent this estate, leave, or do whatever you want. Is there anything you want from me before I leave?"

Gram shook his head. "I'm fine here."

Duleti didn't feel as good, though. "C-Can't you truly show us the method u-you used to rebuild your body?"

"I can't," Rean shook his head. "It's nothing personal, and even if you don't believe me, it is a fact it is useless for anyone else other than me and my companions." And that was the truth since it also used the system to rebuild one's body.

"I see..." Duleti didn't insist anymore. "Then I'm fine as well. But I will do all I can to look for a way to restore my body or to make that cultivating puppet of yours. I will contact you if I get the materials."

Rean nodded, but before he left, Kentucky mentioned something. "Well, finding a way to rebuild your bodies might be impossible, but have you considered possession?"

Possession wasn't anything rare. However, possessing someone else's body had many drawbacks, especially with the control of one's body. Compatibility was another one, as it might not be able to keep the soul safe like Rean's puppets are.

Duleti didn't deny it. "I have... but it is risky. E-'even if I succeed, my degree of control over that body will definitely be much worse than my original body. Someone else's body has, after all, gro-own to accommodate that person's soul. It is not a decision to take lightly... not to mention that it is an abhorred approach pretty much everywhere."

Rean patted Kentucky's shoulder. "That is not something we can decide for them." Right after, he looked at Gram and Duleti. "Still, if you decide to possess someone in the future, I hope you at least find someone who deserves to be replaced instead of taking an innocent life."

"That's not something you would hear from a normal cult-ivator..." Gram mentioned, a little surprised.

Rean smiled, though. "If there is one thing you probably noticed about me, it is that I'm not your normal cultivator. Who knows? Perhaps we got this strong exactly because we don't follow the common trend."
