Located in the Hang district, in an open area, was a large, well-known guild known as the Orian Guild. They had a large plot of land with carefully cut grass at the front, leading up to the big guild building.
Beyond that, there was even a location at the back where the guild members could train, fighting against each other using their magic.
This guild was well known because it was one that focused on portal expeditions. Whether they were hired by companies to gain a large number of beast crystals or to search for magical artifacts, they had their uses in society.
They also had quite powerful members, and often the crystals they did obtain, or artifacts, would be passed on to the larger guilds above, those that were run by the Grand Magus.
They were just a step below the guilds that were actually run by the Grand Magus, which was why, in particular, Harvey had selected this guild in particular. Little did he know, it was a special day for the Orian Guild.
In one of the large training halls the guild often used, there was a special event occurring. Rows of seats had been set up, and young students, mostly teenagers in high school, along with their parents, were present, sat down.
There had to be at least four hundred guests in the room itself, and with it, the guild, who were dressed in dark blue, a mixture of blazers and robes, added another two hundred in the room itself.
The mages in the room were guild members that were coming to watch the demonstration. In the entire guild building, though, there were around a thousand members that were present currently, and in total, the guild had around five thousand members.
In the room, the seats were pointed towards a carefully crafted stage. There were a group of twelve mages, groups of three of them dressed slightly differently. Some of them were holding staves, and some even had swords by their side.
Standing at the front was a dark-skinned, muscular man named Azbeth, the Guild Leader of the Orian Guild. He stepped out slightly ahead of the others as he came to the front of the stage."It's important when applying to join a guild that you know what position and what benefit you will add to the team," Azbeth explained. "It's not just about what the affinity your core is, or what you specialize in, there are also positions."
The group of three mages with staves held in their hands moved forward.
"Inside a portal expedition, there are beasts that we might come across from time to time, and in order to battle them, it's ideal that we have the correct lineup."
"These three are mages that specialize in ranged magic, and as for the others, they are magic sword users, who focus on enhancing their bodies and weapons with magic to fight."
"It's because of these special formations of teams that we have, that the Orian Guild has managed to get into the position it is today. When we look for new guild members, we keep in mind what the guild currently has."
"So there are various positions that are more open. As you know, there is somewhat of a rarity when it comes to magic sword users, so they are quite in high demand."
Azbeth then pulled out a sword himself. It was long, straight, and clean. As he held it up in the air, lightning started to surround the weapon.
"Not many wish to go down this path of magic, as it's quite dangerous for us to get in close, but the effects of magic can be greater. My sword with a lightning enchantment and moving myself with Wind magic allows me to stay safe."
"And it's not always true that magic sword users can't strike from far." Azbeth pointed his sword straight ahead, and a lightning strike shot out from the tip.
It went through the air and hit the back of the room, leaving a black mark. Azbeth quickly placed his sword back away, and the audience watching started to clap.
"As a five-star magic swordsman, if those have some interest in sword magic, I am happy to train them myself. This is one of the benefits of joining the Orian Guild."
"Of course, not just anyone can join; I would have to see potential in you myself. Now on the stage, I will have the squad demonstrate how they are able to fight together..." Azbeth had continued on about his presentation to the rest of the high school students and parents.
While one of the men stood up, he looked around and walked off to the corner and looked at a mage.
"I'm just heading to the toilet."
The mage stepped to the side. "Down the hall and to your right. Don't go in the wrong one." "Right." The man awkwardly smiled and made it down the hallway. When he was in the toilet itself, he checked each of the stalls, and he could tell they were empty; he was the only one that was inside.
"It seems we might have a particular situation here. There's some event going on. It looks like the guild is doing some presentation to a school or something. Should we proceed?"
The man waited for a reply. "An audience for us? This is perfect; we will proceed as expected." The man nodded, and then with a click of his fingers, Dark magic swirled around his blazer, turning it into a dark robe that covered the top of his head, with a purple-colored trim running along the edge.
At the same time, just outside the building, a particular hooded man, in a peaked hooded robe, started to walk up to the front entrance.
By his side, there were two more.
The guild members outside of the Orian Guild had noticed the three walking up to them. "Stop! State your reason for being on the premises of the Orian Guild's ground!"
Right underneath their feet, two men had risen from a dark shadow below. They placed their hands on the back of the two Orian Guild members, and adark magic spewed out. Slowly, it started to almost melt a hole in their chests, until the life had faded from their eyes, and they fell to the ground.
Harvey continued to walk, and as he reached the front, two more of the hooded men had
joined Harvey.
"It's time for the world to find out who we are."
