Ok, you know how they said that some specific named place isn’t built in a day?

Well… I got to witness that such a thing could be possible if they had the skills and the technique to do so.

Just a few minutes ago, this place was just an empty clearing with nothing standing in it.

But now, I was standing in the middle of a fort that had wooden walls and battlements set up complete with ballistas, catapults and even barracks and command tents inside the walls.

Oh, they did cut down some of the trees at the edge since it seems like they can actually be cut down and used as materials, which actually made this Dungeon a good source of wood farm if they can deal with the dinosaurs.

Apparently, this wasn’t always guaranteed as some Dungeons might not allow you to cut down trees that are inside them as they’re treated like ‘walls’ for some of them.

The Knight Captain gathered all of the Dungeoneers in the centre of the fort to start his briefing.

“Alright, we’re pretty much set here. We’ll do rotations here since we need to wipe out as many of these monsters as we can in as short of a time as possible. We’ll do it with two groups each time to lure monsters back here and for the first pair…”

Before anyone could say anything, Sharille raised her hand, “I don’t mind the order but please put my party together with Miss Aster’s.”

The Knight Captain gave her a look, “I heard about the challenge the both of you are doing… I do not mind it since it indirectly encourages the elimination of more monsters but if your challenge endangers this operation…”

“You have my guarantee that it will not,” She assured him.

The Knight Captain turned to me and I realised that he also wanted a guarantee from me as well.

I shrugged, “My party will make sure that we don’t endanger anyone here as best as I could.”

“Good enough… In that case, can I leave the first rotation to the both of you? You just need to go out and lure monsters back here for our defenses to deal with.”

“What if we can take out the monsters ourselves though?” I asked.

He frowned, “I would rather you not do that since that wouldn’t be as efficient. I have no doubt your party is able to deal with the monsters here but we’re not trying to kill one monster at a time here. We’re looking to clear out hundreds of them in a single day if we can do so. That’s why if you can, lure as many as possible back here to fight instead of fighting alone somewhere out there.”

Hmm… I guess that’s true… I mean… Under normal circumstances of course.

I was planning to make use of my Shadow Guards but he didn’t need to know about that.

Anyway, it seems like my party and Sharille’s party will be on the first rotation so we prepared ourselves for our ‘trip’.

The idea was that we will go in two different directions and lure monsters to each half of the camp before we initiate a fight with our backs against the fort wall with the monsters we lured. The knights will then join us with their fortifications and take down all the monsters that we lured there.

He made sure to let us know that we should only lure as many monsters as we can reasonably take on as it would be meaningless if we lured an entire group that we can’t take out even with the knights’ support.

Well… That was their plan anyway.

For us, we had a slightly different plan…

“Ok, so… You girls do whatever the Knight Captain said. I’ll be doing some solo hunting, alright?” I told the girls.

Lisa pouted at me, “Mmm… Can’t one of us stay with you? Namely me?”

“Lisa…”

She waved her hand, “Yes, yes, I know, I know. I was just joking. But if there’s a chance though…”

I waved them off and they headed in one direction while I went in another.

Our plan was simple… They would be doing the luring to the fort while I did some hunting of my own. That way, we would also be fulfilling our role in thinning out the monsters but I would get some additional kills to make sure we’re not behind Sharille’s group in the challenge.

I wasn’t taking any chances ok? This is a challenge we have to win!!

Those sweets are on the line!! I’m not going to lose that! Those sweets are mine!!

Ahem… Anyway… I guess I should get started…

Eins, Zwei, Drei…

My three Shadow Guards appeared in front of me and bowed in greeting.

“Master.”

“Mmm… Just find me some of those dinosaurs to kill. Doesn’t matter which one,” I ordered.

Since this was the first floor, the dinosaurs should be the normal variants and not the ones that wield weapons, which means I should be able to handle any on my own.

My Shadow Guards bowed and immediately disappeared into the jungle.

As for me, I covered myself with [Shadow Wall] to hide in the darkness before boosting my speed with [Shadow Glide] with my swords unsheathed and held at my sides. The trees provide a lot of shadows for me so this was the perfect environment for me to make my kills.

And to prove my point… Eins just found a dino with that large dorsal fin on its back which I already knew was a Spinosaurus from her description alone.

I dashed through the trees and saw my target moving through the jungle and completely unaware that it was being watched.

I leapt up into the trees and then activated my Light Sword’s enchantment before kicking off the branches to propel myself towards its head.

The dino probably sensed that something was falling towards it at the last moment but it was too late as I slashed my sword clean through its head, cutting it off.

Under normal circumstances, I would just stop and deal with the corpse but this time I just called up two more Shadow Guards so that they can cut out its Mana Crystal before dragging both the crystal and the head somewhere into the jungle for me to claim later.

Meanwhile, I immediately jumped back into the trees again and leapt my way towards the location of my next target, which just so happened to be a Carnotaurus that Zwei had found.

Just like before, I used the darkness to my advantage and positioned myself right on top of the unsuspecting dinosaur before dropping down on it, slicing its head off before it could even react.

Then I just dropped another two more Shadow Guards before moving on again

The next one was a group of Velociraptors and while I had some reservations about attacking this group because of the events that happened yesterday… I reminded myself that this wasn’t the same group and that they’re still considered monsters so they’ll just respawn anyway after a while.

So I dropped down right in the middle of the group, surprising the dinos before spinning in a circle with my extended light sword.

Half the group got decapitated instantly and the other half needed a moment to realise what was going on.

That moment was all I needed to rush towards the closest group and slash off their heads before turning back to slice through the remaining that were still standing.

Now at this point, you might be wondering why don’t I just flood the jungle with my Shadow Guards to deal with the dinos anyway.

Well, there’s a few reasons for that.

First is that there’s obviously the higher risk of Shaville’s group finding out about this which I would like to avoid and also the fact that I still needed the illusion of us doing this challenge without ‘cheating’.

If I returned with way too many dead dinos, they’re going to get suspicious about it and it would be hard for me to explain.

Secondly, I could just tell my Shadow Guards to kill them and then just slack here for maybe an hour or two to make it believable but… That would be soooo boring…

So I might as well just do this myself to pass the time anyway.

Oh look, Eins found a T-Rex, let me just jump up here and slash at its neck~

Just when my blade was about to hit it, the T-Rex suddenly jumped to the side, completely avoiding my slash.

Eh? How the heck did it know?

I looked up just in time to see it opening its mouth and a ball of light gathered between its jaws.

I did the first thing I could think of and fired my own [Laser] at the T-Rex before it could fire at me.

It seems that while its hide was magic resistant, the inside of its mouth wasn’t so my beam of light ended up piercing through its mouth and into its head before being stopped by its hide.

The light dissipated and the T-Rex crashed onto the ground, dead.

Well.. That works too.

As I was about to move on and leave the corpse to my Shadow Guards to deal with, I heard a wave of roars coming from the side before the thunder of footsteps started echoing throughout the jungle.

Hmm… Guess my girls are already starting a stampede towards the fort huh?

I should also step up my game I guess.
