2746 Upselling And Choice For Accomodation
Four people. Osteri World," Lin Mu stated.
"Understood. When would you like to depart?"
"We booked in advance for next month," Daoist Chu interjected.
The clerk nodded and checked the records. "Ah, here it is. Booking for... three people?" He frowned slightly.
"We have one more addition," Daoist Chu clarified.
The clerk shook his head. "I'm afraid that won't be possible."
Lin Mu's brows furrowed. "What? Why?"
"We only have three spots available for that date," the clerk replied.
"Shit… I should've updated the booking," Daoist Chu cursed.
"What's the next available date?" Lin Mu asked.
"We do have another spot available seventy days from now," the clerk replied.
"Seventy days… that'll be a bit long," Daoist Chu said.
"If there's no option, we can always wait," Lin Mu replied.
"I suppose," Daoist Chu muttered.
"Though… if you are willing to pay extra, I'd be able to bump you to a new spot that opened up today." The clerk suddenly spoke. "It's a lot earlier… just two weeks from now."
"Two weeks, that'll be convenient," Lin Mu said.
"Wait… how much more for it?" Daoist Chu questioned.
"Two hundred high-grade immortal stones each." The clerk said with a smile, as if the cost he was stating was just some common cabbage.
Meng Bai felt his world spin again, but Lin Mu held his shoulder.
"Fine, we'll take it." Lin Mu didn't mind.
"You sure?" Daoist Chu asked. "The next teleportation will be costing us a lot more than this."
"I can afford it. Besides, we have time, so I'll just get some extra funds," Lin Mu stated.
"Alright," Daoist Chu agreed.
They did get a lot of immortal stones as rewards before and had more than enough to afford it. But Lin Mu reckoned it might be better to have some more liquidity. Besides, they didn't have much to do here other than exploring the city, so he could always get more money.
'I was going to go out hunting anyways.' Little Shrubby had talked about getting some seafood, so fishing in the ocean was on their list from the start.
"If you wish to book it, you'll have to pay in advance," the clerk reminded.
"Sure." Lin Mu and the others quickly paid the cost.
"I've noted your names and booked you into the slot. Please be here in time in fourteen days. The array will be opening at eight a.m. sharp," the clerk informed.
"Very well," Lin Mu said as he left with his companions.
Once they were outside, however, Daoist Chu seemed upset.
"That jerk, he's definitely upselling us," Daoist Chu scoffed.
"Even if he is, that amount is a bit too big for him to digest, isn't it?" Lin Mu was sure even a clerk of the tower wouldn't be able to embezzle away that big of a cost.
"No, it will be others too. All the way to the top," Daoist Chu replied. "He'll get a small cut, but the higher-ups will get most of it."
"Won't the authorities do anything about this corruption?" Lin Mu asked, finding it strange.
Things like the operation of a teleportation array, especially a cross-world array, were very strict. Corruption would be very hard to do in places like these.
"Hah, it's all intentional. They'll just say it's higher pricing due to heavy demand," Daoist Chu laughed. "The imperial court just gets to earn more that way."
"True," Lin Mu nodded.
"Amitabha, the greed of man cannot be erased, especially in places like this," Monk Hushu commented.
They talked for a while more while walking before Meng Bai asked something.
"So where are we staying?" he asked.
"We can stay at the place I stayed last time," Daoist Chu suggested.
"Amitabha, that place is foul," Monk Hushu denied. "I'm not staying at a place that conducts that kind of business."
"Oh…" Lin Mu understood what Monk Hushu was implying.
"Well… then we'll have to find a new one," Daoist Chu chuckled. "There's a lot of them anyway."
"You got any options?" Lin Mu asked.
"Let's see, we can stay at the center of the city in the Blue Lantern Courtyards or live near the bustling market district at the Ten Petals Company's villas. We can take advantage of our VIP status there," Daoist Chu said first.
"That sounds good," Lin Mu nodded.
"Wait, I got more," Daoist Chu said, thinking of something. "We can also stay in the nightlife district. There's a lot of activities there."
"Probably not," Lin Mu said, seeing the look on Monk Hushu's face.
"Then I got the best place. Since we're next to the ocean, why not just stay at a beachside villa?" Monk Hushu suggested.
"Oh! Ocean side! That sounds great!" Meng Bai was excited hearing that. "I've never been to the ocean or the beach before!"
"I guess we're staying there," Lin Mu replied.
"Great! Let's go there then," Daoist Chu said, leading them over.
But the place was a lot farther than the man had implied. It took them around an hour to reach it.
"WOW!" Seeing the scene, Meng Bai was floored. "This is what the beach is like! And the ocean! So big! So blue!" The boy was certainly amazed.
The vast ocean stretched endlessly, its sapphire expanse shimmering under the golden sunlight. Waves rolled in a rhythmic dance, their white crests crashing against the shore, sending a cool mist into the air. The scent of salt and the distant cries of seagulls filled the atmosphere, adding to the surreal beauty of the place.
The golden sand stretched for miles, its warm grains soft beneath their feet. Millions of seashells lay scattered like nature's own treasure, their intricate spirals glistening under the sun. Small crabs scurried across the shore, leaving delicate trails behind them, while tiny fish darted through the crystal-clear shallows, their silver scales catching the light.
Looking at it all, Meng Bai felt as if he had just arrived in paradise. He stepped closer wishing to view it all better only to be amazed even more.
