Chapter 2712 Maiming The High Elder
High Elder Yannan looked to his side as a sword was already sticking out of his shoulder!
"ARGH!"
"Tch! You're just making it more painful for yourself." Lin Mu said as the man had barely managed to dodge slightly.
The sword that was supposed to pierce his chest had ended up in his shoulder instead.
WHOOSH
In the next moment, the High Elder waved his hands, sending forth two black streams of water.
They were like high-pressure jets and threatened to pierce Lin Mu.
But he easily blocked them with his Longgui Bulwark Armor.
HISS HISS HISS
To his surprise, however, a burning pain seared through his arms as the water corroded the rocky armor, hissing violently as if it were dissolving stone itself.
"That measly rock armor won't be enough against my Black Pestilent Water!" The High Elder roared, his voice thick with triumph as he prepared another attack.
A ten-meter-tall wave of blackened water gathered above him before rushing toward Lin Mu like a collapsed dam.
GUSH
BOOM
"Magma Fury!"
In response, Lin Mu simply waved his hands, summoning large magma appendages with clawed fingers extending from his arms.
They quickly grew to a size of three meters and crashed against the surging wave, sending a cloud of superheated steam billowing into the air.
'I can't let the water touch me… it's not normal water.' Lin Mu thought.
"You really shouldn't," Xukong spoke in his mind. "It's Black Pestilent Water. It's essentially a type of Baleful Energy infused into liquid form. It can corrode your Qi and flesh if it gets onto your body. This is most certainly not an orthodox technique." He warned.
Lin Mu furrowed his brows but refused to back down. He had fought foes far more terrifying than the High Elder. He was no stranger to Baleful Energy.
"I have to say, your sect is certainly hiding some secrets." Lin Mu spoke. "This technique of yours, Black Pestilent Water… did you really get it from your sect?" he questioned, his gaze narrowing.
"Why should I tell you?" The High Elder retorted before rushing toward Lin Mu, axes spread wide.
He spun like a whirlwind, long water blades extending from the edges of his axes, threatening to cut everything in their path.
SHUA
Lin Mu simply dodged with Blink and appeared ten meters away.
THUD THUD THUD THUD
But the trees behind him were not so lucky. Thirty towering trees were felled instantly, their trunks sliced clean through.
A section of the forest was now open, revealing the shimmering lake beyond. From the cliffside, Meng Bai could now see everything unfolding below.
"That's the High Elder?" Meng Bai whispered, squinting to make out the figure amidst the chaos.
Though his cultivation base was too low to perceive all the details, the sheer scale of the destruction made it impossible to ignore.
BOOM BOOM BOOM
BANG BANG BANG
CLANG CLANG CLANG
THUD THUD THUD
The battle intensified as Lin Mu and High Elder Yannan clashed. Each exchange sent shockwaves through the air, shattering boulders, uprooting trees, and turning the terrain into a battleground of molten craters and broken earth.
Then, the High Elder raised his hands and let out a deep, guttural chant.
"Flesh-Eating Pestilent Mist!"
HISS
In an instant, the black water around them evaporated rapidly, transforming into a thick, corrosive mist.
"Hold your breath!" Xukong warned.
HISS HISS HISS
But Lin Mu quickly realized that wasn't enough. The mist was eating through his armor, dissolving even the cloth grips on his swords.
'This isn't normal. If it were anyone else, they'd be dead already.' Lin Mu thought grimly.
'I have to end this quickly.'
Then, without hesitation, he dived straight into the ground.
"Foolish!" The High Elder sneered, thinking Lin Mu was jumping to his death in his toxic domain.
He spread his immortal sense, scanning the area, but to his shock, Lin Mu had completely vanished.
"Already run away? And you were speaking big words earlier." The High Elder scoffed.
He expanded his immortal sense further, covering a radius of ten kilometers, yet still, there was no sign of Lin Mu.
'Where did he go?' The High Elder's face darkened.
RIPPLE RIPPLE RIPPLE
Suddenly, the black water on the ground trembled. Ripples formed before the entire earth began to shake.
"What the—?"
RUMBLE!
As if a volcano had erupted, molten lava burst from the ground, an explosion of red-hot flames consuming everything in sight.
The Black Pestilent Water evaporated instantly, and a fifty-meter-wide crater opened up beneath the High Elder's feet.
"AHHHHHHHHHHH!" The High Elder screamed as his body ignited in flames.
He hastily tried to summon a water barrier, but it crumbled upon contact with the searing heat.
These were no ordinary flames. Lin Mu had just unleashed the Flaming Mountain Devastator!
The High Elder's legs burned away first, then his arms, which he had used in a desperate attempt to shield himself.
Within seconds, his limbs were gone, and half of his torso was charred black. One of his eyes had melted away, while the other remained open in horror, the eyelid burned off completely.
He gasped, struggling to speak, but only smoke and blood gurgled from his throat.
Lin Mu walked forward, his gaze cold and merciless.
"Words are wasted on you," he muttered before raising his foot and stomping down on what remained of the High Elder's chest.
CRACK!
The High Elder's ribs shattered as he coughed up more blood, his breathing ragged and weak.
Lin Mu leaned in, voice low. "Your sect will be next. Even if you lived, there would be nothing left to return to."
The High Elder's eye widened in disbelief, his once proud expression reduced to sheer horror.
Lin Mu turned away, flicking his sword to remove the blood.
"Take him away," he commanded.
A red blur zipped through the battlefield—Little Shrubby had returned. The beast grabbed the charred husk of the High Elder with his claws, dragging him effortlessly.
"You should've run when you had the chance." Lin Mu said, his voice barely above a whisper.
Far away, the remnants of the River Bending Axe Sect were crumbling. Those who had once stood strong were now either dead, captured, or fleeing the sinking sect.
And Lin Mu wasn't done yet.
The storm had only just begun.
