WALKER OF THE WORLDS

Chapter 2706 Returning With Shocking News

2706  Returning With Shocking News

Meng Bai, utterly bewildered, was torn between fear and embarrassment. Was he hallucinating? First, a talking bird. Now, flying snakes? What in the heavens was happening?

"Master!!" he finally managed to cry out at the top of his lungs, hoping that Lin Mu would hear him.

Back at the training ground, Lin Mu's eyes snapped open. He had felt the disturbance in the array and Meng Bai's sudden burst of fear. Without hesitation, he vanished from his spot, reappearing in an instant near the riverbank, his gaze locking onto the scene before him.

The small black bird turned its head toward Lin Mu and let out a delighted chirp. "Master!"

Lin Mu's eyes narrowed as he realized what was happening. He rubbed his face and let out a sigh.

Meng Bai, still dangling in the air, was barely holding back his panic. "M-Master! Help!"

Lin Mu let out a small sigh before directing his gaze at the bird and the snakes. "Alright. Let the poor boy down."

The bird flapped its wings and grinned—or at least, that was what it looked like. "Is this our new junior?"

"HISS!"

"HISS!"

The twin black and white snakes also hissed in interest, making Meng Bai feel confused and anxious. He had certainly not missed the bird's words and also the familiarity that Lin Mu showed with the three beasts.

"Wait… Master… are they your…" Meng Bai finally put the entire thing together.

THUD

"Ugh." Just as he thought that though, the twins let go of him and he landed on the ground, making him groan.

"Meng Bai, meet my tamed beasts," Lin Mu spoke. "The twin serpents, Xiao Yin and Xiao Yang, and the black bird, Ashy." He introduced.

Meng Bai looked at the three beasts and soon picked up on their gazes. They had not been looking at him with malice earlier. Instead, they had mischievous intent right from the start, which was also why Meng Bai had been feeling strangely threatened.

Ashy and the twins had already guessed that this might have been the surprise that Lin Mu had been talking about, but now it had been confirmed for them. They had just wished to tease him a bit, never realizing that he would get so scared and drown on his own.

"Well…. Hello." Meng Bai awkwardly greeted.

"So you're our new junior!" Ashy said while Meng Bai felt a couple of pats on his back that were heavier than he would have liked.

"He's weak," Xiao Yin said, sensing his cultivation base.

"He's even weaker than our youngest!" Xiao Yang nodded, referring to Ashy.

"Now I won't be the weakest in our group!" Ashy said, feeling proud as she raised her wings up high.

Of course, Meng Bai could only understand Ashy's words, but it didn't take him much to pick up on the context clues and realize the three beasts were teasing him.

"Come on now, he'll catch up soon enough," Lin Mu spoke. "Don't tease him too much." He added.

"Okay, master," the three beasts replied in unison.

"Though, can we play with him?" Ashy asked.

"You can," Lin Mu allowed after thinking for a bit. "Just nothing too hard." He added.

"YESSS!~" the twins said in excitement.

"Play with me?" Meng Bai was confused and surprised.

"You can train with them. It'll allow you to adapt to different kinds of targets and prepare you for surprise attacks," Lin Mu replied.

Training with the twins and Ashy would be a good experience for Meng Bai, especially since Ashy was still in the Dao Treading realm and Meng Bai would have at least some hope of matching her attacks.

Though it was another thing whether he would be very proud of fighting against a tiny bird like that.

"Master, we're hungry!" Xiao Yang spoke.

"Yeah, where's brother Shrubby?" Xiao Yin asked as well.

"He should be nearby," Lin Mu said before sensing Little Shrubby's location.

He sent a message over, asking him to return since the others had come back.

"He'll be back in a bit," Lin Mu said as he watched Meng Bai get up. "Let's have some food when he's here." He said, making the boy happy.

"That'll be nice," Meng Bai was pleased.

The group returned to the camp and just a couple of minutes later, Little Shrubby had made his return. The beast interacted with his junior brother and sisters for a bit before getting to cooking. Since they were back after a few weeks, he reckoned it was best to make something new for them.

While he cooked though, Lin Mu talked with his tamed beasts.

"I thought you three would inform me when you were going to return," Lin Mu asked, feeling surprised.

"We were going to stay longer, but we heard something that surprised us," Xiao Yin said.

"What is it?" Lin Mu wondered.

"We heard your name in the city," Xiao Yang replied.

"My name?" Lin Mu raised his brows.

"There were several people looking for you and asking around," Ashy spoke this time. "And all those that said they had heard of you or talked to you were taken away by those people." She added.

"What!?" Lin Mu stood up as he heard that.

Even Meng Bai, who was in the middle of eating, stopped and dropped his spoon.

"Who were they?" Meng Bai asked.

"There were many people, but some of them looked like the Axe sect members," Ashy spoke.

"Axe sect? The River Bending Axe sect." Lin Mu realized. "Whom did they take?" he asked.

"There were multiple," Xiao Yin said. "There was an old man along with a girl and her family. Then a few workers from a library. Also, a couple from a food place." She revealed.

Hearing that, Lin Mu's expression darkened.

It didn't take much for him to guess who all these people were. They were all people he had interacted with before.

"What is it, master?" Meng Bai couldn't understand Xiao Yin, so he asked directly.

"The sect people have taken away several people, including Mr. Lan and his wife," Lin Mu said, a frown appearing on his face.
