VILLAIN MMORPG: ALMIGHTY DEVIL EMPEROR AND HIS SEVEN DEMONIC WIVES
Chapter 1046 - 1046: Do You Want to Duel Me or Something?Villain Ch 1046. Do You Want to Duel Me or Something?
Meanwhile, in Hell’s Gate, Ront City.
Elio, James, Noah, Gil, and two healers appeared at the gate, their armor and weapons covered in their recent battle’s remnants. They had just returned from an intense hunt in the Fairy Forest, and the group was exhausted. The dark sky that marked this city was the Devil Emperor’s territory still there, but somehow they had already gotten used to it.
“Welcome back, adventurers!” Thera greeted them with her usual chipper tone.
Gil grunted in annoyance as he adjusted his cloak. “Ugh… Never again. I swear, I hate those fairies. They’re fast, they’re tricky, and don’t get me started on the ambushes. It’s like they have eyes in the back of their heads.”
Elio gave a weary smile. “At least we tried,” he said, his voice calm and steady, though there was a hint of exhaustion behind it.
“Tried?” James laughed bitterly. “We barely made it out alive! My health bar was practically hugging zero half the time, and those fairies were relentless. If it weren’t for mine and Noah’s area skills, we’d still be stuck in there.”
Noah shrugged as they walked through the gate. “What can I say? It’s a gift.” He glanced at James with a grin. “But next time, maybe don’t aggro half the forest, yeah?”
James rolled his eyes. “Yeah, well, maybe next time I’ll leave those annoying archers to you. They were shooting at us from every direction!”
“Don’t remind me,” Gil muttered, pulling up his inventory to check his supplies. “I’ve burned through more potions in that one hunt than I did in the last three raids. My entire stock of Health potions is gone.” He couldn’t rely on the healers, since he mostly activated his hiding skill.
One of the healers, Lira, sighed as she rubbed her forehead. “It’s the ambushes that get me. Healing through those rapid-fire attacks from ten different directions? Not fun. I need a break.”
Elio chuckled softly as they made their way toward the city’s center, to their guild base. “We’ll take a breather once we’re back at the base. That was a tough hunt, but we learned a lot. Next time we go in, we’ll be better prepared.”
“Next time?” Gil groaned. “I’m not setting foot in that forest again unless we bring an army. Seriously, those fairies don’t mess around.”
Noah nodded in agreement. “Yeah, no kidding. Beautiful place, but those fairies? Absolute nightmares. It’s like they knew exactly how to mess with us. I was dodging more fireballs than I was shooting arrows.”
James scoffed, adjusting his bow as they walked. “Tell me about it. I almost felt bad shooting at them—until I saw how much damage they were dealing. Who would’ve thought something so small and sparkly could almost wipe a party of high-level players?”
Gil shook his head. “Looks can be deceiving. Those little monsters took chunks out of my health bar faster than any boss fight I’ve been in. We need a better strategy next time.”
Elio kept his calm demeanor despite the complaints from his guildmates. “We weren’t expecting it to be easy, but you’re right. We weren’t ready for how coordinated they were. Next time, we’ll have a clearer plan. I’ll work on some adjustments to our approach.”
“Adjustments?” Lira, the healer, let out an exhausted laugh. “Unless those adjustments include bringing a shield for every healer, I’m not sure it’ll matter.”
Elio smiled, his mind already calculating adjustments for the next raid. “Noted. Maybe we’ll bring extra healers or better crowd control next time. We were too vulnerable to the ambushes.”
Suddenly, a figure appeared in front of them, blocking their path. It was Mila, arms crossed over her chest and an arrogant expression plastered across her face. Her posture was challenging, but her gear was mid-level at best, clearly outmatched by the more experienced members of the Order of Valiance.
Elio and Gil held back their cringes, while James and Noah exchanged amused glances.
“What’s with that stance?” Noah teased, raising an eyebrow as he looked his sister up and down. “Do you want to duel me or something?”
Mila glared at him, though there was something off about her eyes—they were glazed over, distant, as if her mind wasn’t entirely in the game. “I sent you messages a dozen times, Noah! Why didn’t you answer me?” she complained, her voice sharp with frustration.
Noah waved her off, clearly unfazed. “Hey, I was in the middle of a harsh battle in the Fairy Forest. I couldn’t reply. My hands were kind of full with my bow and arrows, you know? I’m a professional hunter, after all.” He smirked, leaning into his teasing. “Unlike you… a pathetic assassin who always forgets to use her hiding skills.”
Mila’s face twisted into a scowl, her arms dropping to her sides as she took a step forward. “Pathetic? I could take you down in a duel any day.”
Sensing the rising tension, James quickly raised his hand, stepping between the siblings before they could start throwing insults—or worse, arrows and daggers. “Uh, how about we talk about this in the tavern? I’m sure you two could use a drink to calm down.”
“No,” Mila snapped, her pout deepening. Her tough exterior was cracking, and the others could see her emotions were getting clearer. Her face slowly changed, her brows furrowing as she bit her lip, clearly holding back something deeper than her irritation with Noah.
Noah and James exchanged worried glances. Something was wrong—Mila didn’t usually get this worked up over a teasing remark. Noah, sensing that there was more going on, softened his tone. “What’s going on with you? You’re not like this just because I called you a pathetic assassin. What happened?”
Mila’s facade crumbled. Her lower lip quivered, and her eyes welled up with tears before she suddenly rushed forward, wrapping her arms around Noah in a tight hug. “Katrine… she saw Allen hugging a girl at the station this morning,” she sobbed, her voice muffled against Noah’s chest.
