(Chapter Five)
Luo Ziling was really angry.
He firmly remembered something his grandfather had said: nowadays, in Huaxia, no one’s acupuncture skill surpassed that of him and his grandson. His grandfather’s tone implied that he was indeed “the Number One Acupuncture Master under Heaven.”
Luo Ziling had always believed that his grandfather’s research in acupuncture had achieved great success. On the foundation of summarizing the work of predecessors, he had created his own set of effective acupuncture techniques that were even more formidable than those recorded in ancient medical texts or the ones spoken of in legends. He was truly deserving of the title “the Number One Acupuncture Master under Heaven.”
Unexpectedly, today, at the entrance of this “National Medicine Expert” clinic, seeing such a signboard, his heart suddenly filled with displeasure.
“What are you looking at?” Seeing Luo Ziling lifting his head and staring unblinkingly at the clinic’s signboard, Yang Qingyin couldn’t help being curious.
But she also soon saw the signboard hanging there. After looking at it carefully, she too could make out the flamboyant characters.
“Huh, quite a bold claim, though the calligraphy isn’t bad,” Yang Qingyin said with a smile after examining it for a moment, then teasingly added to Luo Ziling, “But not as good as your handwriting. If you wrote such a signboard, these characters would definitely carry more vigor. Tell me, how can your handwriting be so good? It’s too discouraging. I once thought that among my peers, my music, chess, calligraphy, and painting skills were unmatched. I didn’t expect that you would outshine me in every aspect. Have you considered, sometime, teaching me calligraphy?”
“What, feeling competitive?” Luo Ziling replied with a laugh, “But I must admit, I’m definitely not as good as you in painting. There’s no need to compare, I concede, although I’ve never seen your paintings. Your writing is also good, of course. If you want to learn, I can teach you—I just need a little compensation,”
“What compensation?” asked Yang Qingyin, curious.
“How about warming my bed?” Luo Ziling said with a deadpan face, then couldn’t help bursting into laughter.
Yang Qingyin’s face turned red instantly, and she almost charged over to engage Luo Ziling in a three-hundred-round fight.

Just then, an attendant from inside the clinic came over, frowning as he asked the two, “What are you here for?”
Seeing that both of them were quite handsome, and they seemed to be full of camaraderie, the young attendant felt displeased.
What he hated the most was seeing people handsomer than him—although he wasn’t very handsome himself, he just had that kind of mindset. So, when he saw Luo Ziling and Yang Qingyin standing at the entrance of the National Medicine Expert clinic, gesturing towards the signboard, he couldn’t help but come over and challenge them.
“We were discussing, why does this signboard say ‘Number One in Huaxia’ instead of ‘Number One under Heaven’?” Luo Ziling pointed to the signboard and earnestly asked the young attendant, “Wouldn’t ‘Number One Acupuncture Master under Heaven’ carry more vigor?”
The young attendant was taken aback, unsure of the meaning behind Luo Ziling’s words.
“Our master’s acupuncture skill is indeed the best in the world,” the young assistant thought for a moment and then replied earnestly, “In terms of Acupuncture Skills, Huaxia is the most exquisite, and the number one acupuncture skill in Huaxia is the best in the world.”
“That’s quite a bold claim,” Luo Ziling shook his head at Yang Qingyin, “Those who claim to be the best in the world often aren’t; the true number one would never boast about being the best. Isn’t that right, Qingyin, my… ah, senior sister?”
Accustomed to calling her senior sister, Luo Ziling naturally used the term, but fortunately, he caught himself quickly. Neither Yang Qingyin nor the young assistant seemed to care, which was a relief.
“Exactly,” Yang Qingyin nodded seriously, agreeing with Luo Ziling’s statement, “If someone were truly the best, they wouldn’t flaunt it so ostentatiously as to hang up a sign for fear that others wouldn’t know. Those who hang ‘the best in the world’ on their lips are often insecure, hence they use a plaque to feign prestige. If they were confident, they wouldn’t do that, and instead, they’d be humble in front of others.”
“Right,” Seeing Yang Qingyin’s agreement, though her feminine voice couldn’t be completely disguised, Luo Ziling didn’t mind and replied with a smile, “Real masters are like a valley, always believing there is room for improvement, willing to humbly learn from others rather than arrogantly claiming to be the best and acting as if no one else matters.”
With Luo Ziling and Yang Qingyin’s back-and-forth, the young assistant was fuming, his fair face turning beet red.
He pointed at Luo Ziling with a trembling finger, furious, and shouted at the two, “Who do you think you are, acting so brazenly in front of our clinic? Get lost, or I won’t be polite!”
“What do you mean by not polite?” Luo Ziling casually put his phone back in his pocket, not in a hurry to contact Wang Tongshan anymore, “Are you planning to chase us out with a beating, or call the police to take us away?”
“Just get lost,” the young assistant’s face was as red as pig liver, unable to believe that these good-looking people could be so shameless, wishing he could kick them outside the second ring road.
“I don’t really know how to ‘get lost.’ Maybe you could teach us, or demonstrate?” Seeing Yang Qingyin looking interested, Luo Ziling didn’t plan to let it go and continued to tease the young assistant, “Could it be your master, who self-proclaims to be the best in the world, taught you how to ‘get lost’? Why don’t you give it a try and show us, how about it?”
The young assistant had never encountered someone as shameless as Luo Ziling. Unable to bear the taunting any longer, he leaped forward three feet, intending to hit Luo Ziling. Luo Ziling skillfully dodged and, while doing so, lightly hooked the young assistant’s leg. Consumed by anger and not watching his step, the young assistant lost his balance and fell face-first into the dirt, as miserable as could be.
“Who are you people, daring to cause trouble here?” Just as Luo Ziling looked on with schadenfreude at the young assistant floundering on the ground, an angry questioning voice came from behind.
Turning around, they saw a young man about twenty-five or twenty-six years old, clad in a crisp suit and looking quite handsome, leading several young people out of the clinic, and he sharply scolded them. Luo Ziling protected Yang Qingyin behind him and then, still smiling, pointed at the young assistant who hadn’t gotten up from the ground yet, “This young man was showing us how to ‘get lost.’ Maybe you’d like to watch?”
Yang Qingyin behind Luo Ziling couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
The young assistant, who finally struggled to his feet, was mortified by Luo Ziling’s words. Yet, upon seeing the young man in the suit, he didn’t dare to make another scene and quietly stood aside.
“Who are you? Are you here to challenge us?” The young man in the suit, looking at Luo Ziling sternly, then let his gaze fall on Yang Qingyin. When he saw Yang Qingyin, his eyes lit up and didn’t move away.
“Such a good-looking young man,” he actually took a liking to him on the spot.
