Chapter 1045: Super-Realm

"You're such pussy, Bones. Nightmare can cry to the Skymagia Royal Family all they want, but they won't be able to do anything about it," Valefor nonchalantly stated. He did not fear the Skymagia Royal Family's power in the slightest.

However, his lack of explanation did not reassure Thanatos in the slightest.

After all, Valefor might be strong, but he still wasn't a Divine Lord. On the other hand, the Skymagia Royal Family definitely had more than one Divine Lord. That was a level of power that could decide the life and death of any vassal star realm.

"Why won't they be able to do anything about it, Your Excellency?" Thanatos ultimately asked.

"The Skymagia Star Kingdom and the Divinesun Star Kingdom are on the verge of a stellar war that could break out at any time. Do you think the Skymagia Royal Family would be stupid enough to send a Divine Lord here during this crucial period?" Valefor nonchalantly mentioned.

"It's impossible for the Skymagia Royal Family to send one of their only Divine Lords here. That would be equivalent to opening a weak spot for the Divinesun Star Kingdom to exploit."

"And since their Divine Lords aren't available, why would we still need to fear the Skymagia Royal Family's wrath? No matter how many Divine Knights they send, I, alone, am enough to deal with them all," Valefor coolly stated.

"This…" Thanatos hesitated as he contemplated Valefor's reasoning.

Indeed, Valefor was so powerful that it didn't seem like Divine Knights could threaten him. In that case, if no Divine Lords were involved, there certainly wouldn't be any issue with Gehenna's survival.

However, the problem was getting on the Skymagia Royal Family's bad side.

After all, just because the Skymagia Royal Family couldn't send any Divine Lords now didn't mean it couldn't send any forever.

The future was uncertain, so there was no need to gamble with their chances, right?

"The Skymagia Royal Family definitely isn't in a position where it can divert its main power to mediate any disputes between its vassal star realms, Bones. There's just too many disadvantages for it," Valefor calmly continued to explain.

Since Nightmare's representatives died in Gehenna, they could just twist the truth and say that Nightmare invaded them instead, and that they simply defended themselves.

Even if the Skymagia Royal Family knew the truth, it still wouldn't have the will or luxury to stand up for Nightmare. Once it found out about Valefor's power, it wouldn't want to make him an enemy.

On the contrary, it would be doing everything to butter him up so he could join the war.

With Valefor's power, he would have a significant role in the Stellar War between the Skymagia Star Kingdom and the Divinesun Star Kingdom.

When Valefor explained all this to Thanatos, the latter felt a lot calmer but not completely reassured. After all, witches held special statuses in the Skymagia Star Kingdom.

How could the Skymagia Royal Family maintain its authority and prestige if it allowed other vassal races bully its own kind?

"Do you really think the Skymagia Royal Family can't do anything to us, Your Excellency?" Thanatos slightly doubted.

"As long as its hostile status with the Divinesun Star Kingdom continues to exist, the Skymagia Royal Family won't be able to touch us," Valefor reassured indifferently, adding, "So what if it gives its witch race special privileges? So long as its survival is being threatened, it will never do anything to harm its chances of survival."

"As such, not only would the Skymagia Royal Family not punish us, but it would even send us a special invitation," Valefor coldly grinned.

Valefor didn't just kill Nightmare's representatives because he especially abhorred its kind; it was also a shortcut to getting noticed by the Skymagia Royal Family and joining the Stellar War. ŘÀΝỖBĘs̩

Moreover, the Skymagia Royal Family would definitely try to give him 'special treatment' by sending him to the most dangerous battlefield during the Stellar War.

Of course, this kind of move would have been a cruel punishment for anyone else. But for Valefor, it was definitely a treat.

When Thanatos realized Valefor's intention, his usual lifeless expression seemed to become more lively and colorful; his soul shuddered with myriads of emotions, mostly horror.

If Valefor were dragged into the Stellar War, he would probably thrive. But if the rest of the Great Devils were also dragged into it with him, they were more likely to die.

"Y-Your Excellency, please don't joke around. If we join the Stellar War, we'll die!" Thanatos cried.

In a Realm War on the scale of Star Kingdoms, namely a Stellar War, Divine Warriors were just expendable foot soldiers, while Divine Knights were at least Captain-level.

"Why are you such a pussy, Bones? You know, for a being so close to death, you are awfully afraid of death," Valefor disdained before saying, "Anyway, you won't die unless I want you to."

"What can you all do anyway? The Skymagia Royal Family would only want me," Valefor scoffed.

Thanatos looked bitter, mentioning, "Even if we don't join the Stellar War with you, Nightmare will definitely find the chance to destroy us during your absence, Your Excellency."

The Skymagia Royal Family would definitely give Nightmare a chance to take its revenge by not drafting all of its Calamity Witches.

"Kekeke, indeed, that would be a problem," Valefor agreed with a soft chuckle before adding, "If Nightmare still has its witches by the time of the Stellar War, that is."

Thanatos was immediately stunned.

The implication behind Valefor's words was quite clear: Valefor intended to kill Nightmare's Calamity Witches before the start of the Stellar War.

In order words, he was still going to start a Realm War with Nightmare.

Regardless of who won the Stellar War between the Skymagia Star Kingdom and the Divinesun Star Kingdom, Valefor was intent on conquering Nightmare. Even if it didn't house his most detested enemies, he would still do it.

Of course, this was Vaan's original desire, not Valefor's. Old Valefor would have tried to wipe Nightmare out of existence if Vaan didn't seek to conquer it.

After all, unlike most vassal star realms, Nightmare was special.

Nightmare had already developed Divine Rings around its host star and physically merged all of its territories into one, becoming a super-realm.

Super-realms had the potential to establish Star Kingdoms.
