The Strongest Dull Prince’s Secret Battle for the Throne

Asmodeus faced my Silver Judgment without any apparent effect, emerging as if nothing had happened despite being engulfed by my Force-state silver destruction magic. This proves he's no ordinary foe. It seemed that he had defended against it, but normally the power I wielded should have been enough to break through any average defense.

"What an interesting surprise attack that was."

"I'm honored. How about this then?"

As I said that, I charged straight towards Asmodeus. An unexpected move. It seemed he hadn't anticipated a mage like me to engage in close combat. Asmodeus stopped in his tracks, amused, ready to face me. I launched a series of magical bullets at him, obscuring his vision.

"What kind of attack are you planning next?"

"How long can you keep your composure, I wonder?"

I spread my arms wide, then brought them in front of my chest. Asmodeus looked puzzled by the prelude to a major spell, finding it unnatural for me to approach him only to use a big spell. This unnaturalness was quickly resolved as a teleportation gate appeared before me, and I stepped through it. This short-distance teleportation gate swapped my position with Elna's.

"Give me a heads up if you're going to do that!"

Though she said this, Elna, always ready to attack, launched an assault on Asmodeus. He had shown confidence against me, but against Elna, he couldn't afford to be as relaxed. He managed to defend against Elna's holy sword but obviously allocated a significant amount of power for defense. During this, I began my chant.

Asmodeus's defenses were extraordinary. Ordinary silver destruction magic had no effect on him.

This Silvery Ray was cast in my Force state, a comprehensive enhancement magic that drastically increased my mobility and attack power. However, even with these enhancements, I was barely on even footing with Asmodeus. Unfamiliar tactics were ineffective. As a mage, my specialty lies in obliterating my opponent with grand magic. Seven light orbs targeted Asmodeus. Noticing them, he attempted to distance himself from Elna, but she wouldn't allow it, engaging him in close quarters.

"You won't escape!"

"Can't attack from this close, can you?"

"We'll see."

Elna refused to back down, keeping Asmodeus in place while I maneuvered the seven light orbs around him.

"Thanks for the distraction. My turn."

With my command, the light orbs unleashed silver beams while narrowly targeting only Asmodeus. While engaged against Elna, Asmodeus managed to deflect her holy sword with his right hand while creating a barrier with his left to defend against the Silvery Ray. Both defenses were inadequate. Realizing this, Asmodeus dodged Elna's sword and created some distance. I moved the orbs to follow them, but Asmodeus deemed them as a nuisance and spread his arms wide.

“Aaaaaaaaaa!”

With a mighty shout, he used his authority of destruction to obliterate the surrounding seven light orbs. His boldness knows no bounds. However, this created an opening.

"Time to taste my holy sword."

Seizing the moment created by the orb's destruction, Elna closed in on Asmodeus. He tried to move his right hand in defense, but I conjured silver chains to halt it. Though the chains only restrained Asmodeus briefly, it was enough for Elna.

"O holy sword of the stars, unleash your power... to annihilate my foe!"

Golden light converged on the blade, and Elna swung the holy sword downward.

A powerful stream of light engulfed Asmodeus. This full-force attack from the third stage shook the atmosphere with its power rivaling that of the sun, too dazzling to behold. And as the light faded...

"Truly..." Elna began muttering, implying that Asmodeus wouldn't get away unscathed. But her voice trailed off before she could finish. He had definitely been hit. Definitely engulfed. Yet, there stood Asmodeus. However, it's clear he wasn't unharmed. He must have stopped everything with his right hand in a split second, as it was no longer in its original form, and yet, he was covered in wounds all over his body.

"Huff, huff, huff... I truly thought I was going to die there..." Asmodeus said with a smirk.

Monster. I couldn't help but mutter inwardly. To think someone could survive that. But he was damaged. Repeating that attack would surely kill even Asmodeus. I was certain of it. Yet, seeing Asmodeus's smile gave me an unpleasant premonition, which was soon proven correct.

"I see... even the Demon King's defeat is understandable now. Such tremendous power... I won't be able to overturn this disadvantage by going on as is. Looks like I'll have to get serious too."

With those words, Asmodeus began to descend rapidly. Elna and I followed him down. At the center of the capital, Asmodeus raised one hand, gathering energy from all around. A vast amount of energy that kept swelling.

"Is he gathering the powers of the demons that were destroyed...?"

"This is bad! If he releases that!"

The allied forces would be annihilated. We tried to stop it, but then we noticed something off. The demons fighting the allied forces also began to have their powers drained.

"Ahhhhh!!!!"

"Lord Asmodeus!??"

It seemed the demons hadn't expected this either, as screams erupted everywhere. In the end, only a few demons at full strength remained, while everything else turned into a massive energy sphere above Asmodeus's head.

"In honor of you who managed to wound me, I'll show you my second authority, 'Absorption.'"

"Second authority...?"

"Why did you assume a demon's authority was limited to just one?"

Asmodeus said this and absorbed the gigantic energy sphere into himself. The excessive energy created a blast that spread around. When it settled, there stood Asmodeus, cloaked in a pitch-black aura.

"Now, let me show you my true form."

He said with a laugh. The aura around Asmodeus pulsed. In sync with it, Asmodeus's form began to change dramatically. As if no longer bound by his avatar...

"Seriously...?"

I couldn't help but let out a genuine reaction. Before us was a monster several tens of meters long. Its upper body was human-like, while its lower half was that of a dragon. A fiend befitting the hellish demon stood before us.
