The power of his Will of Time began to bubble out of Rowan’s consciousness as his eyes glowed brighter, and when it seemed as if the process had reached the cusp of activation, the power that sealed him in place blocked any expression of his Will outside his body, and a sort of amused sensation from the World Stele touched his consciousness,
"You have watched me like the serpent that you are, but I have watched you like a hunter. I have been waiting for you to make this move. Tell me, Rowan, for someone as wise as you, why do you think I have let you live for so long, knowing how dangerous you are to everything that lives and breathes? Everything you have touched you have brought to ruin, and yet I still brought you into my bosom."
Rowan’s eyes flashed repeatedly as if he was trying to break through the barriers holding back his Will and then he chuckled darkly, there was no mirth in that laughter, only a sort of acceptance and intense stubbornness,
"You were giving me a long rope." Rowan said, "To hang myself with it."
"It is a good thing that you do not lack awareness. You are not the first genius I have dealt with or the billionth. You are not the first Breaker, and you will not be the last, that have forged the foundations of where you stand today. You were not weak, your enemies were simply too strong. Your death would not be in vain. This is something I can promise you."
The chewing and slurping sound from Thenos was gradually subsiding and Rowan’s consciousness rippled outward, as he observed the bleeding womb,
"I think I am now beginning to understand what makes Thenos special. He eats everything."
"Ah, but that is only scratching the surface of his talent. He does not eat, he assimilates… everything, without wasting a single bit of it. In time he would become everything. Why did you think he had to be hunted down and killed before he was allowed to be born? Thenos was destined to be the eighth Primordial. Of all Breakers that had come before, none can equal his gift."
Rowan whispered to himself, "Hmm, this is interesting. Yet are you not afraid that there might be something that would choke him?"
If what the World Stele was saying was correct then Thenos talent made him a severe threat, from the moment that he entered this realm after leaving the Great Desert, he had only made three moves, the first was against Nemesis and he had drained that being of its entire energy stores, the second was against the Eye of Time, but at this moment the Eye was invincible, and the third was against the Undying, stopping him from performing what we actions he was going to do.Stealing energy should be the first step, if Rowan followed the logical progression of that obvious link, then if Thenos uses his eyes a second time then what he would be collecting is Essence, the third time would be bloodline, the fourth would be talent, the fifth would be memories, the sixth would be the Will, and the seventh would be the Soul.
Put in simple terms, Thenos was the perfect Chimaera, he could even be regarded as the first of its kind to ever exist.
All of this was rather easy for him to infer from observing the way that Thenos eyes had operated and the words of the World Stele, and now he truly understood the reason why the Singularity was looking away when Rowan made great changes to its plan because it had already determined that no matter what Rowan did, he was simply fattening himself for Thenos.
"I see that you have finally understood the gap that exists between you and him. If he consumes you and your servants, he becomes all that you are. If he leaves this realm that has imprisoned him for so long, returns to all the broken Eternal Realms, and consumes all the talents of the children of Primordials and the hidden Breakers, then he would be unstoppable. His destiny shall burn brighter than even the first flames!"
The sound of chewing stopped, Thenos it seemed had finished consuming the energy of the Undying, and his struggles to tear out of his womb increased. Still bleeding oceans of black blood, the womb could not withstand the power of Thenos and it was finally being ripped apart.
Rowan’s consciousness began to strain outward, as the only medium he was allowed to use by the World Stele, it was traveling like a snail toward the Undying who was hanging in the air… defeated.
The womb finally tore open, and reality seemed to go mad as something fell from it. Rowan glanced at Thenos before looking away and straining to reach the Undying.
Thenos was curled in a fetal position on the ground, still taking the form of a baby, his skin was corpse white, and filled with numerous black veins that pulsed with power and corruption, a constant wave of darkness was being purged from his body, and the energy of Nemesis and the Undying had gone a long way to help him.
His right hand clenched and unclenched, almost as if he was testing his body, which was not far from the truth.
Thenos from every angle appeared to be a normal humanoid baby, chubby, with all the ungainly body proportions of an infant, with the very small addition that he was an infant whose size was bigger than a universe, however, everything flew out of the window of normality when it came to his head.
Like everything it did not understand about reality, Thenos never knew what he looked like, since his head was taken away, his body remained so he could easily fit into his body, but his head was gone, and now in his attempt to regrow his head, there was no order, simply chaos.
Instead of smooth white skin and a child’s face, Thenos’s head was a massive pulsating tumor, it was like looking at a ball of naked and bloody muscles, that expanded and retracted, and from the micro tremors rippling across the surface of the tumor, it was as if Thenos was in constant pain.
From the pulsating tumor that was his head, massive rips began to arise, bleeding foul blood as hundreds of eyes emerged from it, and Thenos began to struggle to stand on his feet, and once more he had begun to laugh.
Rowan’s consciousness finally reached the Undying and a single strand of Berrion’s hair shook when he touched him, bringing him out of his pit of despair,
"Father, I have failed you."
Rowan was silent for a while, before he replied, "No, you have not."
The eyes of the Undying opened wide, and a hint of understanding seemed to rise within him when his green eyes that had been filled with life went dull and something broke out of his forehead with so much force that the top half of the Undying exploded.
What killed the Undying zipped across reality, tearing through the barriers bounding everything and slammed into Rowan’s forehead with so much force that his body, despite being under the hold of the World Stele was bent backward.
Golden blood began to pour out of Rowan’s forehead like a waterfall, but he was uncaring of that, instead, he began to laugh, it started small, but it soon grew into a peal of full-blown manic laughter, and for a while, it was impossible to tell the difference between the laughter of Thenos and those of Rowan.
Rowan easily brought his left hand up to his head, the barriers that the World Stele was constantly maintaining over him were no longer holding him. Digging his fingers into his head he pulled out… a spear.
At this time, the spear was like a toothpick, but as he straightened, it expanded until it was as large as his Destroyer. Twisting the spear, he slammed the point into the ground, making the entire body of the World Stele quiver in pain as massive cracks radiated from his position.
Cracking his neck, Rowan groaned in pleasure as he was finally free of the oppressive restraints, and he addressed the World Stele,
"After all this time you do not understand me at all. Do you think I will show you all my cards? I made nine books, true, and I showed you those books, also true, but I never said that every book I made was in the shape of one."
