The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse
Chapter 808 - 808: The Hypothetical What If“Kiki, kindly lower the shades so we can see the outside,” Klaus said to the advanced AI piloting the ship after he sat down in the comfortable chair away from the pilot area.
Queen Lunara sat beside him as Klaus poured them a drink.
The twins made sure the ship was equipped with everything that would make the journey enjoyable. At his request, the shades came down, turning the ship transparent.
Though it had turned transparent, anyone outside could not see those inside. It was like a one-way view that only those inside the ship could enjoy.
Space became clear for them to see, and since they were moving at hyperspeed, the stars in the distance created a rather mesmerizing view, making the two who were experiencing their first space travel smile.
“This is nice,” Klaus said, watching the outside world.
“It’s indeed nice,” Queen Lunara nodded in agreement. “I never knew I would be traveling through space in this life or the next,” she added.
“Technically, you’ve lived in space your entire life,” Klaus said, observing the excited look in Queen Lunara’s eyes. She was clearly very pleased with the experience she was embarking on.
She turned to look at him and then asked, “Why go to Mars for a tribulation? Is Earth not having enough space for you to have your tribulation?”
She had been meaning to ask.
Earth is pretty huge for a tribulation, so why go to Mars when he could just do it there? It just didn’t make any sense if one had to ask.
Klaus smiled, knowing where her question was coming from.
“I am going to Mars for two reasons,” Klaus said, raising one finger. “First, I didn’t want to destroy Earth during my tribulation accidentally.”
Queen Lunara looked at him with a puzzled expression. She looked deep into his eyes, checking if he was just messing with her. However, she realized Klaus was dead serious.
This caused her to ask a follow-up question.
“Why would your tribulation accidentally destroy Earth?”
Klaus smiled, shaking his head.
“If I tell you, I’m afraid we’ll have to fly the rest of the journey to Mars in silence.” He knew telling her he was a paragon and had reincarnated many times was a recipe for disaster, especially when Earth hadn’t awakened yet.
According to the seniors, Earth is a forbidden world, so the moment it awakens, the heavens would lose their influence over it. This means he could then tell those close to him his true identity, or in this case, his true identities.
But for now, he couldn’t. Telling her will invoke the heavens’ wrath and even go as far as blessing her with a lot of bad Karma.
However, he underestimated Queen Lunara’s curiosity.
“If you’re going to Mars for two reasons but can’t tell me the first, then what’s the second?”
“I’m going there to bring back one of my subordinates.” This time, too, the queen stared into his eyes, knowing that was the only way she could determine if the brat was lying.
“You are being serious?” she asked with a serious expression. She could tell Klaus wasn’t joking, which sounded strange considering this was their first time going to Mars.
If that was the case, then what in the world would he be going to Mars to fetch his subordinate for?
Klaus knew she wouldn’t stop considering he had piqued her curiosity. Of course, this was exactly what he was aiming for. Since their journey would take close to a day, they could at least clear the air around them.
He felt something from her, and as such, he wanted to use this chance to get a better understanding of it. He didn’t want to keep guessing for long.
“Let’s say, hypothetically, I once foresaw a great calamity, and in order to prevent it, I left five insurance policies. Let’s say one of these insurance policies was a being as powerful as they come, and for many years had been waiting for me.
Would you believe me?”
The only way was to speak in a tone that didn’t suggest anything yet conveyed a whole lot. Klaus knew that was the only way to speak to her.
Thankfully, Queen Lunara was a quick learner, so she picked up on his statements. This caused her to narrow her gaze at him. However, it wasn’t that she didn’t believe him; it was more like a realization struck her, and this caused her to look at Klaus differently.
“This explains a lot. I wonder what else there is to know about you,” she said, shaking her head.
“Actually, you may not believe it, but I think we were once lovers in our past life,” Klaus laughed.
“As if anyone would want to be your woman,” Queen Lunara just shrugged.
“How else then would you explain the sudden connection that formed between you, Lulu, and Amelia? I think you also suspected what I said.
I know this because I have this connection with you that I just don’t seem to understand. Of course, I can only speculate now, but I believe we share a bond.”
Queen Lunara became quiet, hearing all Klaus had to say. Not that she wasn’t taken aback, considering she also felt the same connection with him.
But she never pegged them as lovers from their past life. Even Klaus was just speculating based on his experiences from the lives he had lived so far.
However, he couldn’t help but feel that way. Naturally, he knew that if his suspicions were validated, he would find out soon enough.
“Just don’t think too much about it. Everything will make sense one of these days,” Queen Lunara nodded, knowing the question had to be asked.
‘What if he was right? Was I really his lover from our past lives?’ she wondered.
‘But what then are past lives? Does it mean I had a different life I will one day remember?’
Her mind spiraled as she started asking herself questions. She could only try to regain her resolve before moving on to the next topic.
Two hours later, the Void Drive activated, and they jumped 12 million miles ahead. Soon, they had traveled several million miles but still had millions more to traverse.
