The girl dressed as a young man hurried over. The sunlight poured into her bright, captivating eyes, making them sparkle so brilliantly that Xi Weizhi could hardly keep his eyes open.

Xi Yue was the only sunshine in his life. Being close to her would burn him, yet if he stayed too far away, he would lose everything—forever and ever immersed in darkness.

Xi Yue ignored Weizhi and hurried to Jin Zeyu and the others.

After seeing the identities of the people who were waiting to be confirmed, and seeing their miserable looks, she was dumbstruck.

As she tried to confirm their identities, the sight of their miserable state left her stunned, almost unable to process what she was seeing.

If it was just one person, she might have mistaken it.

But everyone was here… all her old friends, standing before her once again.

Xi Yue squeezed her eyes shut, her voice urgent as she spoke to the servant and Anling Yuan. “Carry them inside. Prepare clean rooms for them, now!”

“Yes! Yes!” Anling Yuan and the servant snapped back to their senses, quickly rushing to help carry Jin Zeyu and the others.

As they lifted them, it was clear that the others were soaked in blood. The moment their hands touched, they were met with a sickeningly wet and bloody warmth.

Just as Xi Yue was about to follow them inside, a hand suddenly gripped her shoulder, stopping her in her tracks.

She turned around and met Xi Weizhi’s gaze—his alluring eyes, cold yet seemingly full of unspoken emotion. His voice, tinged with a hint of grievance, reached her ears. “You promised you’d come within three days.”

Xi Yue yanked his hand off her shoulder, her eyes blazing with icy fury. “Just because I returned a little late, does that give you the right to kill without question?!”

“Have you forgotten what you promised me, Weizhi?”

In that moment, the cruelty in Xi Weizhi’s eyes vanished, leaving only a chilling coldness behind.

He stood there quietly, gazing at the person he had longed for over the past few days. His voice was calm and faint, yet carried a lingering weight as he repeated, “You promised you’d return within three days.”

Xi Yue’s eyes were filled with disappointment and then turned into complete indifference. She threw his hand away and said coldly, “You should go.”

A low, hoarse voice drifted from behind her, barely audible. “Do you plan to leave me again?”

Xi Yue’s steps faltered, a wave of reluctance stirring in her heart. But as the image of Jin Zeyu and the others’ tragic state flashed in her mind, she steeled herself. “Weizhi, you promised me there wouldn’t be a next time, yet you broke that promise. Our paths are different now, and we can no longer work together.”

After saying that, she walked inside without stopping.

Anling Yuan stepped forward, nervous and wary as he glanced between Xi Weizhi and the frost-covered expression on Xi Yue’s face. He hesitated, then spoke up, “Xi Yue, Weizhi, he…”

Before he could finish, a shout came from inside, “Young master, young master, come quickly! There’s someone here, suddenly convulsing and struggling to breathe!”

Xi Yue was startled and could no longer care about anything else. She disappeared in a flash.

Anling Yuan also hurriedly followed.

Only Xi Weizhi remained, standing motionless at the entrance of the clinic. He gazed quietly in the direction where Xi Yue’s figure disappeared, his hands clenched tightly, as if he had turned to stone.

The city guards of Skyrise City rushed over upon receiving the news. But when they saw the people from the Chen Clinic pointing at Xi Weizhi, the guards, including the captain of the Void Darkness Stage, felt a bone-chilling cold and a deep, instinctive fear emanating from the young man in the red cloak.
