The Invincible Full-Moon System

Chapter 1553 - 1553: Finding the Infiltrator

Quickness is the key.

Gelmar’s return, which should be a cause for celebration, has now turned into an urgent cue to summon the soldiers and sweep the entire city. A situation bad enough to warrant him going to the academy and calling off today’s training for everyone.

At this moment, the city needs every man it has.

On the other hand, Vivian told Jarvald about the situation and instructed him to check the houses.

Ugrok and a couple of strong Awakened were sent to sweep the unused sectors of the city, to see if there was any sign of an infiltrator hiding somewhere. In addition to that, Mavenna also volunteered to keep a lookout from above.

If the infiltrator was really inside the city, this sweep would basically force a move.

And if that was the case, Mavenna was ready to inform the others from above.

Jarvald looked at the approaching soldier, who was the leader of the soldiers sweeping the houses on the main street. It has been ten minutes, and the entire houses around this area should be swept clean, and this soldier was here to report.

“Any sign?”

“I’m afraid not. Nothing that screams a hideout. We even matched the prominent energy lingering in each of the houses to the owners to find any incompatibility, but so far, the lingering energy inside the houses matched the owner.”

“Okay. Finish things here, and don’t forget to apologize to the people for bothering them.”

“Yes, Sir.”

Since he found nothing, Jarvald walked away, heading to check the other areas.

On the other hand, walking along the street of the town square were Vivian and Gelmar.

Both of them were heading to the main teleportation formation building to see if the guards there could remember whether there was any suspicious person teleporting without prior notice. At this point, they needed to confirm whether the infiltrator was real.

Once that fact was confirmed, they would then take a more drastic measure.

Doing so right now would be unreasonable to the people and would only create unnecessary chaos.

It would be too much to handle since the important figures weren’t around to handle the mass.

So, before making big moves, they have to be certain.

“How long ago did the ambush happen?”

“Days. If there was really an infiltrator, he should already have a hideout here in this city, or near the city, outside the walls.”

“Days…? Is there any reason for you to come back this late?”

“Like I told you, the situation in the Human territory is not great. I wanted to go back, but got wrapped up in a problem. It’s not like I came back late on purpose.”

“Sigh… We’ll be lucky if we can even find a trace of this infiltrator.”

Upon reaching their destination, the duo wasted no time in heading over to the leading guard’s office.

It was on the second floor and overlooked the entire chamber.

“Someone suspicious…?” The guard, a seventh-rank realm Awakened, from the Hester Family, looked down—and contemplated. She thought about the last few days and remembered one odd instance. “I… I remember one instance that struck me as odd.”

“What is it?” Gelmar demanded. “Tell us!”

“Calm down.” Vivian placed her hand against Gelmar’s chest and pushed him back a little.

Demanding like this would only pressure the guard too much.

Realizing that he was too forceful, Gelmar cleared his throat and leaned back a little.

“Go on,” He corrected. “Tell us what you remember.”

“I was assigned here because I’m an exceptional Mind Elementalist, at least compared to my peers,” She started. “I can read minds, the minds of even some eighth-rank realm Awakened. I remembered one person who suddenly teleported here, in the middle of the night. I was heading back to my office after eating outside, and I came across him coming out.”

“I asked the nearby guard, Anton, about who that person was. And he told me—that it’s a soldier from Captain Gelmar’s army. It wasn’t that weird, since there are soldiers who come and go. But I can’t read his mind, which was what made him odd.”

As the guard said that, she shifted on her seat, “There are not many eighth-rank realm Awakened from Captain Gelmar’s army, and I made sure to remember all of them by face or posture. And this person was certainly not one of them.”

Upon hearing this, Gelmar couldn’t help but frown.

“If that’s the case, why didn’t you stop him?” He asked helplessly.

“I…” The guard stammered. “I reckoned the others already did a thorough search on him, so I didn’t think much about it. Had I known that he would be a big deal, I would’ve…”

Gelmar turned around, pulling on his hair in frustration.

He was angry, furious even, but he couldn’t quite blame the guard since the only ones who could even teleport here were only a couple of people from the subservient kingdoms, mainly the Kings, and also Gelmar’s forces.

It was also the reason the guard didn’t think of anything about the person.

Since only specific individuals could teleport to Dargena City, the security became lacking.

Someone who proclaimed to be from Captain Gelmar’s army would basically get a free pass.

“Our secret location became a weakness,” Gelmar shook his head. “That person took advantage of it.”

“Do you remember what he looks like?” Vivian asked.

Regretting what had happened would not do them any good, but information does.

“He’s wearing our signature crimson armor, so I can’t really see his face,” The guard replied, but she was quite attentive to details. A habit of hers—from being a Mind Elementalist, “But I’m sure that he has blonde hair. I can see strands of his hair poking out of his helmet”

“Blonde hair…?”

Gelmar turned around again, his expression shifted to that of absolute horror.

“What? Do you know who this person was?” Vivian asked hurriedly.

Gulping harshly, Gelmar looked at her dead in the eyes.

He now realized that the situation was a lot graver than they initially thought.

“For one, Richard has blonde hair…”

“What? You’re saying Richard, the supposed greatest fighter of Humans, is here…?”

Gelmar nodded his head grimly.

Of course, while he was talking with President Sebrof’s messenger, he asked to see Richard’s face, and she showed it to him. A striking man in his thirties with pale blonde hair, one who was a perfect image of a holy knight.

So, if this unknown person has blonde hair, then there’s a chance it could be Richard.

Not a big chance, but regardless, it must be taken with absolute certainty.

Knowing that things could get entirely worse with Rex being in a coma and the others being out, Gelmar turned to leave the office, “We need to move quickly. After we swept the city, we’re also going to sweep the Humming Damned Forest all the way until the Chrono Hollow.”

At this moment, Dargena City couldn’t take any chances.

Pausing at the door, Gelmar glanced over to the leading guard.

“Lock down the teleportation formation. Nobody can go in or out of the city, do you understand?”

“Yes, Sir!”

Standing up readily from her chair, the leading guard excused herself and went downstairs.

Once she left, Gelmar fixed his eyes on Vivian.

“Since you’re new, it’s time for you to show your usefulness,” He said with an authoritative tone. We’re one captain short, so you and your spouse would be leading our army to sweep the outside. I’m going to oversee the inside.”

“I’m not much of a field person,” Vivian answered truthfully. “I’m a Luna before this, so let me do what I do best. My spouse, Jarvald, to lead the soldiers outside—while I’m going to think. Searching for the infiltrator blindly wouldn’t be effective, we need a lead.”

Gelmar nodded in understanding.

Everyone has their own expertise, so he wasn’t going to force Vivian to do anything.

“As for the way of handling the sweep, I’ll follow your lead,” Vivian added.

Not wasting a single precious second, as the infiltrator might have more plans than finding out the city’s location, Gelmar rushed out of the building. He looked around and called a guard nearby, “Call Jarvald. Tell him to meet me in the courtyard as soon as possible.”

Upon hearing that, the guard nodded and sprinted away, enhancing his speed with the wind element.

Just when Gelmar was about to rush back to the castle, his eyes caught sight of a place.

It was the cemetery where Dindora’s grave was.

He was notified about Dindora’s death on the same day, and it came as a shock, as her death came out of nowhere. Naturally, his initial thought when he returned home was to visit her grave. But with the situation like this, he could only suppress his emotions and move on.

‘First, I need to make sure Calidora is safe…’ Gelmar thought before disappearing from sight.

On the other hand, Vivian placed both hands against the wall.

Her eyes stared at the cobblestone floor, deep in contemplation.

‘Okay, think, think!’ Her brows furrowed in tension, ‘Richard wanted to recruit the empire to fight the Angel race, despite the strained relationship between Emperor Rex and the Humans. I’ve heard of the Emperor’s rage—how his rage wiped out millions. That kind of destruction doesn’t happen without a deep and strong emotion. So, it’s safe to assume he’s still bitter toward the Humans… at least for now.’

‘If I’m Richard, what would I do? How would I recruit the empire?’ She thought deeply.

But it was hard to think of a method when she never knew how a Human thinks.

All she knew about Humans was that they were incredibly wicked.

So, whatever Richard was going to do, it must be something wicked.

Clicking her tongue in displeasure, she decided to go downstairs and meet with the leading guard again.

“Inform this to the other subservient kingdoms,” Vivian instructed with a firm tone. “You must be the one who informed them. I don’t trust anyone else to do this. Once you’re done, report back to me. I should be near the castle or at the main gate.”

Moments later.

Under Gelmar’s command, the soldiers, separated in groups, began to sweep the forest.

Jarvald and Ugrok were the ones leading them.

Since the people of the city had been hunting relentlessly in the forest, the cursed creatures and mutated animals had developed a tendency to flee rather than confront intruders. Of course, most of the cursed creatures still attacked on sight, but the forest was no longer as hostile as it once was.

All soldiers searched for any sign of intruders aggressively.

Not one rock was left unturned.

If the intruder made a hideout nearby, it would be found.

Knowing that the risk was too high for the city to remain passive, Gelmar issued a drastic measure.

And now, it doesn’t matter if the people knew about the situation.

Getting rid of Richard is the first priority.

Meanwhile, Vivian, who was standing near the main gate to the city, turned to the side—when she heard someone calling her. She realized that it was the leading guard—from earlier. Weirdly enough, the guard came back faster than anticipated.

“Have you finished informing all of them?” Vivian asked.

“No…” The guard shook her head, panting heavily through her mouth, trying to catch her breath.

“Hmm?” Vivian frowned. “Then why did you come back already?”

“I… I went to inform the Dark Elf Kingdom first, and they said that recently, an Angel managed to get into their territory,” The guard explained, recounting the information she gained. “It wasn’t caught, and though they tried, they couldn’t locate that Angel.”

“An Angel…?” Vivian frowned.

Based on what she knew, the Angels’ temporary heaven was far away from Dargena City.

It would take days for a high-ranking entity, and months if using a carriage.

Not to mention, going there would also be stepping into multiple other foreign territories.

So she was confused as to how an Angel somehow was able to find its way here.

“In fact, the Angel was even able to wound—Lady Naela,” The guard continued. “I don’t know if you knew who she was since you’re new, but Lady Naela is Lord Kyran’s fiancée. She was now under the Dark Elves’ care until she recovered.”

Vivian’s expression froze when she heard that, “What did you say…?”
