Chapter 1832 - 1930: Bone Demons in SwarmsChapter 1832: Chapter 1930: Bone Demons in Swarms
This was the first time the woman in the black dress joined forces with Fang Lin to fight an enemy. Although it felt terribly awkward at heart, there was no other choice at the moment. If they did not team up, facing the formidable Bone Demons would be impossible to win.
However, even after joining forces, their situation remained unchanged. The three Bone Demons were just too powerful. Fang Lin was managing, but the black dress woman was significantly weaker and couldn’t help Fang Lin much.
As a result, the two quickly found themselves in a perilous situation. If not for Fang Lin’s miraculous Nine Heavens Step Skill, which allowed some maneuvering thanks to the cumbersome size of the Bone Demons, Fang Lin wouldn’t have had the confidence to contend with the three Bone Demons without this peerless movement technique.
The woman in the black dress was in even worse shape. Although her movement technique was also remarkable, it couldn’t compare to Fang Lin’s Nine Heavens Step Skill, especially given her limited strength. It was naturally difficult for her to hold on at this moment.
Soon enough, the woman in the black dress was struck by a Bone Demon, feeling as though she had suffered a heavy blow, spitting blood as she flew backward.𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
Seeing this, Fang Lin paid her no attention. He was also being fiercely attacked by two Bone Demons, leaving him no time to worry about the woman in the black dress.
"Hopefully, no more Bone Demons will appear!" Fang Lin thought to himself. Although three Bone Demons were terrifying, they weren’t enough to kill Fang Lin. If a few more Bone Demons appeared, Fang Lin wouldn’t be able to handle it.
Just after Fang Lin had this thought, there was movement from within a pile of bones not far away.
Fang Lin’s scalp tingled. He turned to look and almost cursed out loud.
The fourth Bone Demon!
It was exactly as feared; Fang Lin wished he could slap himself for being so prescient.
However, Fang Lin knew that there were probably many Bone Demons in this place. Even with all his prayers, they would still appear as they were destined to.
The appearance of the fourth Bone Demon left the injured black dress woman pale, her inner shock indescribable.
"This is impossible! How can there be so many Bone Demons here? No ancient battlefield has ever seen such a number of Bone Demons!" the woman in the black dress shook her head, almost unable to believe what she was seeing.
Fang Lin felt similarly. They were not unfamiliar with ancient battlefields, which indeed sometimes had Bone Demons.
But it was usually only one or two, never had an ancient battlefield produced four Bone Demons at once, all with similar power.
The emergence of Bone Demons was extremely peculiar, and for four to appear at once meant there was something unknown about the ancient battlefield beneath Fang Lin and the woman in the black dress.
The fourth Bone Demon coalesced and started striding towards Fang Lin, meaning Fang Lin now had to face four Bone Demons simultaneously, equivalent to confronting four Immortal-level formidable foes.
Fang Lin knew they could no longer continue fighting. If they insisted on enduring, no matter how powerful his body was, he would be beaten to death by the four Bone Demons.
"Run!" Without hesitation, Fang Lin shouted to the woman in the black dress and then directly fled towards another direction on the ancient battlefield.
The woman in the black dress reacted quickly, following closely behind Fang Lin. Both their faces looked extremely grim, especially Fang Lin’s, which was so dark with gloom it seemed like water could drip from it.
Regardless of how they fled, they were still within the confines of the ancient battlefield. Unless they could break through the invisible barrier preventing their escape, they would continually be pursued by the Bone Demons.
At this moment, they could only use these fleeting moments of respite to find a way to resolve the crisis they were in.
"You’ve been here before, haven’t you noticed anything unusual?" Fang Lin asked the woman in the black dress peevishly as they fled.
"Last time I only stayed briefly, I didn’t really explore the place at all, and I definitely didn’t discover Bone Demons here!" the woman in the black dress said in a deep voice.
Fang Lin glared severely at the woman. If she wasn’t trapped here just like him, he would have suspected she deliberately lured him into a trap.
The woman in the black dress was similarly regretful, wishing she hadn’t brought Fang Lin to this perilous ancient battlefield. Now, both were trapped and being hunted by Bone Demons with no way of escape.
"Can’t you call for help from outside?" the woman in the black dress suddenly suggested.
Fang Lin held a Jade Slip, which had been given to him by the Old Palace Master, yet he couldn’t use it to contact the Old Palace Master, suggesting that some force here was blocking the use of the Message Transmitting Jade Slip, rendering him completely isolated.
"If I could call for help, would I need you to tell me that?" Fang Lin cursed and continued to flee ahead.
The woman in the black dress was restless, and when she turned to look back, she was almost scared out of her wits. There behind them, a fifth Bone Demon had appeared, joining the other four in chasing them.
"Five Bone Demons!" the woman in the black dress exclaimed.
Fang Lin glanced back, indeed, there were five Bone Demons. Who knew where this fifth Bone Demon had come from.
Fang Lin’s head was starting to hurt; it was as if these Bone Demons just kept spawning endlessly.
Fleeing in circles around the ancient battlefield, the number of Bone Demons behind them gradually increased. Unbeknownst to them, there were already a dozen or so Bone Demons in pursuit.
Fang Lin was becoming somewhat numb. The number of Bone Demons grew, and so did the danger for the two of them, but there was no way to stop their birth. It seemed irrelevant whether more appeared; it was already overwhelming.
The woman in the black dress, however, felt entirely hopeless, believing she would meet her end here with no chance of survival.
With a dozen or so Bone Demons, if they were released into the outside world, many first-rate powers would surely be devastated; it would undeniably be an unstoppable force.
Yet now these dozen or so Bone Demons were solely focused on hunting them down. Under such distress, any Immortal Martial Artist would be likely to despair.
Despite not being in despair, Fang Lin knew that continuing like this was futile. Although they could delay by fleeing in circles on the ancient battlefield, they could never escape the confines completely. And heaven knows how many Bone Demons could appear; if the entire ancient battlefield was filled with them, the two of them might not even have a place to run, only to be trampled alive by countless Bone Demons.
Even as the situation worsened, Fang Lin remained calm, continuously pondering why Bone Demons kept appearing in this place.
Suddenly, Fang Lin seemed to realize something. He patted his Nine Palace Bag and pulled out the first mysterious relic he had found from this ancient battlefield.
