The 100th Regression of the Max-Level Player

Chapter 262: Is This the Human World? (1)

At that moment, a message appeared.

[The duration of Reaper Transformation has ended.]

Simultaneously, another message regarding a side quest popped up.

[A hidden side quest has been discovered!]

└ Be the first to rescue a civilian in Round 16.

└ Reward upon success ▶ Rune of Yin and Yang

[You have completed the side quest!]

[As a reward for the side quest, you have received the Rune of Yin and Yang!]

[The acquired rune is automatically engraved onto the player’s body!]

It seemed saving his younger brother from the angel fulfilled the conditions.

‘Originally, I planned to lure the Little Drake into the city… but in the end, I still got the side quest reward.’

The Rune of Chains, the Rune of Revival, and now even the Rune of Yin and Yang.

He wanted to check out all of these rewards immediately but now wasn’t the time.

He had to return to the isolated island as soon as possible to stop the battle angels that would appear in an hour.

‘The corpses of the archangels need to be hidden. There’s no time to summon John Delgado.’

Ryu Min moved the bodies of Gabriel and Raphael.

Though their bodies were riddled with holes, he had deliberately restrained his power to leave the corpses intact.

This was so he could resurrect them as undead and claim another round of rewards.

Had he not restrained himself, the Moonlight combo attack would have reduced them to mere dust with no trace left behind.

Thunk- Thunk-

Digging into the ground with his scythe, Ryu Min buried the bodies of the archangels. He marked the spot in a way only he could recognize and then approached his brother.

“Won-ah.”

“Hyung…”

“I know there’s a lot you want to say, but let’s save it for later. The people on the island are in danger right now.”

“The island?”

“I’ll explain everything once it’s over. For now, take this.”

Ryu Min handed him a master card.

“It’s dangerous, so don’t go home. Find a nearby motel and rest there. Use this to pay for everything, including food.”

“Oh, okay. But I didn’t even bring my phone. How will you know where I am?”

“There’s no need to tell me. I’ll track you. I’ll come find you once it’s all over.”

With those words, Ryu Min switched to his Assassin’s Mask.

Wriggle-wriggle-

As his appearance shifted to the bronze-colored Lostyak, his brother looked at him with wide, amazed eyes.

“Even seeing it happen right in front of me, I still can’t believe it. My brother is Black Scythe…”

“Sorry for hiding it. I didn’t tell you because I was afraid you’d be in danger if you got involved with me. But now, it seems that’s meaningless.”

The angels already knew all about his family ties. They even knew how much he cared for his brother.

Otherwise, they wouldn’t have resorted to such a cunning scheme.

Ryu Min smirked bitterly and spread the wings on his back.

“For now, it’s a secret to everyone else that I’m Black Scythe. Can you keep it for me?”

“Of course. My lips are sealed, but…”

Ryu Min shot him a sharp glare, making his brother smile awkwardly.

“I-I’m kidding.”

“I’m busy, so I have to go. Get some sleep in the meantime.”

With those words, Ryu Min soared into the night sky and sprinted forward, kicking off the ground.

KWAANG!

After the deafening roar faded, Ryu Won could only stand there, still looking up in amazement at his brother disappearing into the distance.

The universe was divided into five dimensions.

The Divine Realm, the Celestial Realm, the Demonic Realm, the Human Realm, and the Netherworld.

Among them, the weakest species, without question, were the humans of the Human Realm.

The strongest were, of course, the divine beings.

[A degenerate race with no wings…]

Ironically, the race that despised humans the most was none other than the Celestials, whom humans revered as angels.

Though they had beautiful appearances, their insides were filled with jealousy and selfishness.

[Filthy humans, more pathetic than insects. Let’s take this opportunity to wipe them all out.]

[Why are you so angry, Baruel?]

[Why am I angry?]

When his comrade asked, 1st-class angel Baruel snorted as if it were obvious.

[Because we’re doing the work that those 6th-class weaklings should have handled! On top of that, I barely have time to breathe from training, and now this?]

[But it’s a special order from Lord Gabriel. If he commands, we obey. What else can we do?]

[If those damn humans hadn’t survived until the 16th round, we wouldn’t even be wasting our time like this!]

Hearing this, the nearby angel Demiel chuckled.

[Hey, Baruel. Just admit it. You’re mad because you lost that bet with me, aren’t you?]

[W-What? I-I’m not mad because of that!]

[A bet? What kind of bet did you two make?]

Curious, their comrade turned to Demiel, who grinned and explained.

[We bet on how many humans would survive the 15th round. I said over 100 would survive, while Baruel said less than 100. Well, you know the result, right? Hah.]

[Over 500 survived. An all-time record.]

[So, Demiel, you won? What was at stake?]

[He has to take over all my night shifts for a month.]

[Seriously? Pfft! Hahaha!]

[No wonder Baruel’s mad. Hahaha.]

[D-Don’t laugh at me, you bastards!]

Baruel’s face flushed red.

It was humiliating enough to lose the bet, but now his comrades were mocking him as well.

‘This is all because of those damn humans.’

The humans had survived far more than expected, which led to his current disgrace.

[…I’ll kill them all. Every last one of those wretched humans.]

[Whoa, look at Baruel’s eyes.]

[He’s seriously pissed off now.]

[Why don’t you use this opportunity to vent your anger?]

[Yeah, when else are you going to get a chance like this?]

When Celestials crossed into the Human Realm, they lost 90% of their power.

This was due to a special barrier designed to protect the weaker humans from otherworldly invaders.

As a result, humans rarely had opportunities to encounter beings from other dimensions.

There was no reason for Celestials to visit a bug-infested planet while suffering immense power loss.

However, there was one exception: when the system permitted it.

During the rounds, Celestials could cross into the Human Realm without paying the price of power loss, as allowed by the system.

[If not now, when will I get the chance to slaughter them? Don’t you agree?]

[I’ll even give up my share for you, so go all out.]

[Same here.]

[Me too.]

[Go on, have a proper showtime, Baruel. Hah.]

[…Thanks, you bastards.]

Baruel gritted his teeth, his anger boiling over thanks to his comrades’ teasing.

Soon, the door to the Human Realm would open, and he would descend without any restrictions on his power.

[Oh, right, you know that Sishal won’t work, right?]

[I know.]

Not that he planned to use Sishal in the first place.

‘Those filthy insects. I’ll tear them apart, limb by limb, while they’re still alive.’

Baruel vowed to kill every last one of them.
