Chapter 159 Future Memories
Amidst the vile taste of blood and raw flesh, Long Tian disregarded it entirely, consumed by his insatiable curiosity.
After a few moments, he devoured Lei Guang's heart entirely, blood streaming from his mouth.
Long Tian remained motionless, anticipating what would unfold.
And then, a searing pain lanced through his skull. He collapsed to the ground, his eyes wide, crimson veins pulsating in them.
His hands clamped onto his head, the agony unbearable.
"Aaaaaargh!" he bellowed in torment, a sensation foreign and excruciating.
It felt like an explosion, accompanied by thrusts of swords assaulting his mind.
"Aaaaaaaargh!" His cries intensified, reverberating in the dark chamber.
Suddenly, memories inundated his consciousness—scenes of brutality, sorrow, happiness, and disappointment invaded his brain.
Each memory detonated in his brain, causing it to feel as though it might rupture. Yet, he remained powerless, writhing in agony on the cold floor.
---
Not knowing how much time had passed, Long Tian gasped on the floor, his head still pulsating from the billions of memories flooding his mind.
He clutched his head again, the darkness covering his mind, giving a chilling sensation.
After a few moments of recovery, he rose to his feet. A grin stretched across his face; he had just seized Lei Guang's future memories!
"Reiki enhancement, era of disaster, Kunlun Mountains, the great venerables... I remember it all!" he declared.
Through the memories he acquired, he learned the identity of the man he had just killed.
Lei Guang, just an ordinary person born into a fairly wealthy family, lacked exceptional cultivation talent but possessed an A-Class martial spirit.
In the future, he didn't become a significant figure. Instead, he died during a soul beast outbreak incident, without marrying or having romantic relationships.
"This guy's truly pitiful. I'm still astounded at how he managed to journey back in time," Long Tian murmured.
In his memories, Lei Guang had only died after living an ordinary life, waking up thirty years in the past.
"Nevertheless, this is a good thing. I can imagine what I'll gain after consuming Qin Chen's heart," he declared, a sinister grin etching its way onto his face.
With these memories, he now understood how valuable this place was and what a blow it would be to Qin Chen if he managed to take away all the good things in this place.
His focus turned to the sword beside Lei Guang's lifeless body, radiating a sinister aura.
He lifted it, studying its contours. In his mind, faint whispers resonated from the blade.
Long Tian smiled, "So, you're a cursed sword, huh? We can make great allies," he said contentedly.
He felt a profound connection between himself and the sword, a bond that made sense considering their shared affinity for the element of darkness.
Long Tian stowed the sword into his spatial ring and approached the hole in the wall. However, his advance halted abruptly as the wall restored itself, reverting to its original state.
"What the hell?" he furrowed his brow in confusion.
His eyes scanned the area, now shrouded in complete darkness without a glimmer of light.
Then, his gaze sharpened; his instincts warned him that something was imminent.
And indeed, fire torches suddenly appeared on various sides, illuminating a vast and opulent chamber.
Long Tian was taken aback; if measured, this room was twice the size of a soccer field.
The flames burned brightly, casting their glow into every corner of the room.
Ten pillars with black-flamed tips adorned both the left and right sides.
Long Tian's attention fixated on the majestic throne at the far end.
However, out of nowhere, a middle-aged man with long black hair, crimson eyes, crowned head, and clad in dark armor materialized in front of him.
Long Tian grew wary and instinctively stepped back a few paces.
The man, however, wore a smile. "Relax, I harbor no ill intentions towards you," he assured.
Long Tian narrowed his eyes, his tone resolute. "Are you the god of death?" he inquired.
"That's one of my aliases. Some beings call me the fallen, ghost, and king. Anyway, you've shown me something intriguing. Why did you consume that boy's heart? And when you say you remember everything, what exactly do you mean?" the man inquired, his eyes narrowing.
"Does a god of death enjoy asking so many questions?" Long Tian retorted.
"That's what makes it fascinating. Plus, you're within my castle; you must adhere to my rules, including answering my inquiries," the man countered.
"Then, I choose not to answer," Long Tian replied, his tone unwavering.
The man's expression grew stern, "That might not bode well for you," he warned. "However, your silence won't affect much; besides, it's not crucial," he continued, his demeanor becoming nonchalant.
Long Tian raised an eyebrow. This self-proclaimed god of death was entirely different from his expectations.
"Alright, let's delve into a more substantial conversation. You came here seeking great power, correct? What if I bestow it upon you?" the man suggested, a grin stretching across his face.
"What do you mean?" Long Tian asked, his eyes narrowing with suspicion.
"Like I said, I'll grant you immense power, a power beyond your wildest imagination. But you must join me. Together, we will mend the world, your world, our world," the man declared, his grin widening.
Long Tian stroked his chin, momentarily caught off guard by the man's invitation. "That sounds like a tempting offer," he said.
"Then, are you in?" the man inquired, extending his hand.
Long Tian stepped forward, his hand moved, not for a handshake, but to draw his Darkblade from his spatial ring.
The man was taken aback, yet his reflexes weren't swift enough.
Slash!
Long Tian severed the man's head, causing it to tumble to the ground.
Long Tian's expression turned icy, his gaze fixed on the headless body sprawled on the floor.
True to his intuition, the man's body stood up again, his head reattaching itself through the darkness.
The man's expression soured. "You've made a grave mistake," he said, his tone as cold as ice.
"At least I know the conventional methods won't kill you," Long Tian retorted.
"Then, prepare to face a real nightmare," the man countered.
With that, he floated away from Long Tian and landed back on the floor.
His voice pierced the silence like a dagger, "Arise."
With a single word, darkness suddenly shrouded the entire floor, and shadowy figures of various forms emerged, numbering in the hundreds.
"Now, you shall learn your place, human!"
